  • Here is a video submitted by Joe Hardwick (@timberpro_joe) with his usual style of propping his phone up against a tree then cutting. Super simple, but it works and we're glad he does it.

What's the advantage over heads that cut and strip in the same motion?

A feller buncher is much better at cutting and placing alot of timber to be skidded to a processing area. The saw lasts much longer between sharpening (rotating cutting edges actually). A processor head is very slow in comparison and requires much more maintenance if used for felling in comparison. If you are doing very small scale clearing a processing head will do the job but is not efficient at the task.

These are the kinds of machines that make me smile when greenies say we don't need fossil fuels.
i don't see Elon designing D8s and other heavy equipment with an electrical cord plugged into a solar panel.

When “greenies” say we don’t need fossil fuels, we are referencing the fact that it doesn’t make any sense to import energy from other places in the world when we have our own renewable energy options in our local water, sun, wind, etc.
I would also bet that an electrical machine can vastly outperform any type of combustible engine (except mileage but even that’s a matter of time). If Elon were to make this style of machine in pure electric form, it’d probably kick just as much if not more ass... for about 1 minute then the battery’d give out lol.
As a “greenie” I would say the priority right now is our electric macro grid, most micro stuff (like this machine) is not so much of a big deal.
Again, the issue isn’t that we pollute, it’s the quantity, speed and reasons we pollute.
