Maybe, in a alternate dimension, this show would have its own Voltron: Legendary Defender. And would have people complaining about how its final seasons suck. Unless this dimension really has the better VLD.
When you refer to final seasons, I sincerely hope you are referring to seasons 7 and 8(although I honestly didn’t mind those two. Mostly because they had Keith in his rightful position at the head of Voltron!) because season 6 was amazing!
This is what was intended by World Events Productions to be Voltron III/Far Universe before Toei mistakenly sent them tapes of Beast King Golion instead, all due to requesting "The one with the lion." so yes the series as we know and love it was the result of a miscommunication on the Japanese end. It's funny how something like a mix up due to language barrier resulted in Voltron becoming the successful series that it did. It's even more apparent when you watch the early test pitch pilots when the "Voltron Trilogy" idea was still in place, as Daltanious is one of the robots shown in the opening in those along with Vehicle Force/Dairugger XV and Albegas. Yes, originally Lion Force/Golion was nowhere to be found in that plan until the aforementioned mix up happened and eventually the trilogy concept was dropped when they ultimately went ahead to adapt only Golion and Dairugger for the final series. There were at one point plans to go back and adapt Albegas to make that intended trilogy but given the strong reception to Lion Force, it was decided on producing (in conjunction with Toei) those 20 dub exclusive episodes aka the Queen Merla arc.
It's a song (and show) all about optimism and pushing forth in what looks like a losing battle, for a better future... And also the OP to a show made to sell toys but I guess my point is it kinda makes sense to sound this way.

And guess what, Discotek has announced this anime has now been licensed and will get a US release for the first time. Discotek just announced it yesterday. It is honestly insulting that the broadcasting companies treated us like such babies back then when countries like the Philippines got actual good shows like Voltes V relatively untouched!

Voltes V, and Combattler V was never shown in the US like it did in your country. Hell, beloved anime like Candy Candy was never shown on US TV the same way GoLion/Voltron or Robotech got. You understand. Did the Philippines Zambot 3 like Italy did? What about Space Runway Ideon?
