- The Golden Gate Railroad Museum was running Southern Pacific 2472, a 4-6-2, in Niles Canyon, California on March 28 and 29. I saw it in several locations between the stations at Niles and Sunol. When 2472 was at the end of the train, SP 3194, a GP9, was at the front.
Really enjoyed that John, especially since I wasn't down there. Great detail work there with the last few minutes !
Paul Lanyi Thanks, Paul. SP 2472 is such a beauty. I prefer 2467 a tiny bit more but I love 2472.
That's a VERY nice video! SO good to see "the old girl" in action. :) And thanks for including footage of the train in Niles -- have not seen that yet in the videos of her that weekend. GREAT work! :)
She is a classic, isn't she?
Yes, definitely! Beautiful locomotive. Thanks for the comments.

Is that an M5 on 3194?
I think it is, but the horn authority is right under your roof :D
@@jreichel1where was the m5?
@@Ash_huntslocomotives Cab roof
@@jreichel1I see now, thanks! :>
Great video, John! Where's the location where you shot the video at mark 3:25 at?
Guillermographymedia Thanks! I like that spot. It's in Niles (not Sunol, thanks Randoman35) behind some of the businesses. You can get there through a parking lot.
+Guillermographymedia Looks like Niles.
Nice video. is this train steam driven?
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Yes, when the steam loco was leading, it was pulling the train with no help from the diesel. When the steam loco was going backwards, it was running, but the SP GP9 was doing the pulling.
I was on crew that day
Very cool!

Great video, John. Do you have any updates on where the museum and trains will be heading due to the relocation from Niles Canyon as part of not having the PLA extend the lease?
+MossyOakRcn42 Thank you :) The plan is to move to Santa Cruz, but the details aren't out yet. I have a feeling they will run one more time in the Spring.
Plans changed, and they are going to Schellville in the Sonoma area.
