Got a suggestion for a name for the site: the Pacific Railroad Museum or Pacific Coast Railroad Museum. PLA has been wanting to establish an actual museum for a long time, but until now there was never a practical way to display equipment that the public could see other than riding the train as it passed through Brightside or by invitation. Looking forward to seeing this project come to fruition!

Great plans for the Niles Canyon! If this all gets real it can compare with the top of preserved railways around the world. Also great to see the progress on 9010. If they want the thing running on 2 engines it would be possible, still Maybach MD870s around, its just the cost and the fact that 2500hp is already enough for operations on the NCR, even if trains get longer in the future to 7-8 coaches.

I'm primarily a steam guy but I just had to read up on the 9010 after it was mentioned. That thing's got a really cool design and history, holy moly.

Thanks for the update Henry, exciting stuff is happening! I'm curious, what are the plans for the other end of the line in Pleasanton? What will the station complex there look like?

Let me get this straight. Once 1744 & 2479 are back up & running 1744 would be the main steam locomotive on the railroad while 2479 would be steamed up a few times a year to do special excursions that may include some photo runbys.

If they owned sp 2467 why did they transfer that to the csrm instead of restoring it?
It is awesome they are restoring 2479 but why get rid of one pacific just to restore another pacific when they could have restored the one they already had?

2467 should be returning home soon. Unknown time frame though

Hi VintageRenewed -- the PLA never actually owned the 2467; it was always owned by the City of Oakland, who had loaned it to the PLA, but ownership remained with the City of Oakland. So, the transfer of ownership was from the City of Oakland to CSRM, and did not directly involve the PLA.

Where are you getting all of the money($100 million + -) to fullfill this dream? Do you have the Governor in your pocket like the California Rail Museum in Sacramento did?!
