I think Snow hated that he saw himself in Katniss and saw Peeta in a way as a young version of him and thought Katniss was playing him like Lucy played him in his fuxked up head. In reality Katniss is a lot more similar to Sejanus and Peeta to Lucy, and I think Snow hated the parallels and guilt he felt and covered up with narcissism, hated how weak he was for letting them in to a degree.
True but I think he saw Sanjaus his friend like katniss he was loyal snow wasn’t and that’s why he hated katniss he respected her but everything she represented he hated hope rebellion and if he could smother that and broke the system
I see it the other way around. He saw Katniss as him, and Peeta as Lucy Grey, and himself as Dr. Gaul (in the books, in the movie the change Snow's personality a little). He probably had to sign off on the whole two victors thing, probably thinking that in the end they would betray each other the way he and Lucy did (remember, in his mind, Lucy attacked first with the snake). When that didn't happen, he got frustrated because it called his own philosophies into question. Rather than becoming monsters when pinned against each other, as he thought all of society would, they banned together. I think in the books he saw himself as "guiding" Katniss the way Dr. Gaul guided him and I actually don't think he was trying to kill Katniss in the second book (the books are from her POV and she is terrible at judging others actions), I think he very much intended for her to win, to "teach" her what the Hunger Games are for. "See, you were all friends holding hands burning seconds that all went away. That is what would happen without the government." In addition, by killing Peeta and keeping her alive you make an example, "Yeah, she briefly outsmarted us, but we got her in the end? Didn't we?"
I love how contemplative this video is. A lot of THG/TBOSAS videos have gone for a more bombastic approach, which is fun too, but it's lovely to see some variations. Personally, I think Snow sees himself and Lucy Gray in both Katniss and Peeta. Peeta as the foolish lover, while Katniss is both the manipulator and willing to do whatever it takes for her family and survival. I don't think he'd be as fond of her if not for that.
I think Snow wants to create people like himself, the kind of people who knows loving and caring will hurt you and people are in fight with each other. Thats the meaning of the Hunger Games for him. You cant trust people, you have to be the victor... Thats his view. And Katniss, a victor in the hunger games, she has a lot of reasons to not trust people. She has a lot of reasons to hate people, just like Snow. But she doesnt turn into a monster like him. She doesnt prove his point. She choose love and hope, with Peeta. Just like how Snow can choose love and hope with Lucy, but he didnt, he lose that because of himself...
I feel the same way about thg. There is so much symbolism, parallels and commentary on war, propaganda, trauma and etc. But I just don’t know how to form all of my thoughts about thg universe, there are just so many! Very glad that you’ve made thg edit, I always like the parallels and unique music you use. Would love to see more❤️
I really loved how you intertwined both series, it just feels so natural and the quiet tension and suspense you built through the whole video is so perfect.

The prequel really builds up amazingly on details from the original (already great) THG trilogy and gives them whole new layers, and you manage to take us on a gripping rollercoaster through all of them with this video (I especially loved the less obvious parallels like at 1:02, the way you imply that Snow's own experience, thinking that Lucy only manipulated him, coloured his assessment of Katniss' feelings towards Peeta). Thank you so much for always blessing us with art, year after year! ❤
