  • Interested in selling your old car and are located within the Washington DMV area msg me at Vehiclehunterz@gmail.com Upper control arm from rear wheel broke off the frame. Nothing a good welder can't do right?

That little piece of plastic under the sunroof serves as a spoiler when you remove the sunroof, and sort of a guide to ease it down when you reinstall it. It's spring loaded so it pops up once the sunroof is out.

When I had my 06 element I even had the storage bag for when the sunroof was out which I did take it out quite frequently.

If not a video of the repair process a follow up video of how it came out would be awesome.

Picked up an 08 CRV with 120K miles for $400, with the same issue. Boxed up, and reinforced the LCA mount, aligned it, been driving it as a winter beater, I am plasma cutting the rear floor open to tie the top sides of the LCA boxes together to complete the repair, despite it being solid so far.

I have the same color Element , a 2003. Original owner. Still runs strong at 185k miles. Owned 6 Hondas since 1995, some new, some used. This one is by far the best.

It must have some serious rust issues on the under body for that rear lower control arm to let go like that. Hopefully for you, there is something left to weld to in order to make the necessary repairs!
It's more that a bit scary to see what level of damage road salt can do to these Elements. This is not the first time I have seen the same problem yours has. But even if it is too far gone with rust, you certainly got it for the right price, and you can still make a very nice profit selling in parts. I spend a lot of time on the Element Owners Club website, and there are a lot of people on that site who would love to buy just those running boards from you!
I have an '03 Element with 137K miles on it that thankfully spent it's entire life here in Florida. It's under body is as clean as you will ever find on a 17 year old car. It's Sunset Orange Pearl, 2WD and Automatic trans. And I love it! Great multi-purpose car!
The color of yours is called Galapagos Green BTW. I hope it all works out for you!

Honda Canada just announced a new recall to address that kind of rust corrosion. They perform an intrusive test on that part of the frame and if it passes, you get a free installation of a reinforcement bracket and additional work to seal the welds in that area. If it does not pass the test, Honda will buy back the car.

Squeaky noise from bushings, shocks or struts, swing arm not sure? What has been anyone's experience and what was your cost if you had to fix any of these!...

Hi Andrew, welded it fixed, reenforced it. Was thinking of filming and showing but difficult to work on the ground and film. Sold it as soon as I listed. The element drove really well. Turns out Elements have a recall on this rust issue as well.

@@VehicleHunter Glad to know that such repair can be successfully done. Yes, as I noted below, Transport Canada issued a recall for corrosion in the rear trailing arms in February of 2021.

They do hold their value because they are so unique and good. Unfortunately the best way to get an element these days is to know a person with an element. The prices have climbed up over the years like many Honda products that were discontinued.

Someone on the channel said this was a recall. But i fixed it by cutting the frame and rewelding a new piece and then reinforcing it with another section of steel. Stronger than it will ever be.

    STOP!!!!
Honda had a rust recall about this specific rear trailing arm separation due2 excessive rusting of frame stiffeners or suspension pivot point supports. Search:

Nope, in 2021 Honda canceled in bringing back the Honda Element due to development issues and cost.
