The reason runescape will always be better in our childhood is because we didn't care to ask "What should I do?" There was never a mentality of how can my time on this game be most efficient for progression. Instead, what we actually did as kids is explored and created an adventure that made the game actually fun. In other words, don't be a tryhard.
I agree 100%, however for some of us, the progression efficiency guides are extremely helpful to maximize our time online because a lot of us are in our 30s now with wives and kids. So having a plan when in-game really helps me progress and not waste a lot of time.
you don't have to be a try hard to ask waht you should do, new players can easily be overwhelmed with the amount of possibilities available from the start

Pretty true. My Strength skill is extremely high compared to my other attack skills because when I was a kid for some reason I would train melee with fist only and on goblins for hours on end.

I'm the same. Quit in 2006 to play wow. Come across his video 2 weeks ago and I started up and I am loving it. Hit 500 total last night. Got 5 quests left to do, not sure wether to get mems once I've done the quests or wether to aim for 750 total first as I still feel like a noob. Dont want to jump in the deep end already.
I'm just coming back myself. I play on my phone but osrs. I'm 28 now and I played when I was 9-14. I had so much stuff but didn't really know what I was doing. The g.e was new when I left haha.
Love how you included f2p pvp, because that's honestly what made me fall in love with the game all those years ago
When I started a PvP world didn't exist, but wildy was just as fun, I have to agree. It's probably the nr. 1 goal after quest completion, for most of us. However I also agree it's good to do the basics of each skil at F2P, except maybe runecrafting, leave it up to P2P quests and abyss.
Bryophyta's essence won't drop on f2p worlds
it's worth about 6m, about 15x more than the next most valuable F2P drop (hill giant club) - maybe jamflex doesn't want F2P to have such a pricey item

You enjoy the game and think fondly of the days it wasn’t so complex. I’ve been building a CC around the concept of anti-classism which is what pushes a lot of new players away from playing and towards botting/farming.

I started a year before EOC, and I quit when that happened, but the day OSRS came out I've been playing daily since, crazy to believe how far along the game has come, I have 2 accounts with thousands of hours played and its honestly a hobby. Just love my clan and the community too much I can't let it go.
0:35 I’m genuinely surprised at that, I just wandered about lumbridge soaking up the atmosphere and clicking on stuff to see what happened and whether it was fun. It never occurred to me some people are all about progressing fast🤣
There's literally leaderboards for people to see how much xp can be gained in 24hrs. There is a famous story in the community about some guy who was going for the overall smithing xp record in a day. Got to the point where he shat himself in his computer chair, so as to not lose any time and still only managed to get 2nd place.... There are god bit too the community to, I Just thought it was a funny story
I played 20yrs ago & just started back in Jan. I'm a f2p player. So far I've got 3.5m, 852 total lvls 70 attack, 70 strength & 69 defense. It's been a lot of work tho but it help pass the time with the pandemic going on. I wish I'd thought of it sooner

@@heroesofthestormmurky3092 The saddest part is it's literally even not as good as r2h for thee majority of users. The club is literally -4 less accurate than r2h, and that's even assuming the opponent's slash and crush def is the same. Here's the problem with that. For 40+ def PKing, the kite and platelegs are nearly tied for both, like maybe -2 less crush for each. It's only for platebody where there's a big difference (-8 less crush def), and I guess full helm (-5 less).
Well, if you're fighting a ranger, chances are they're either wearing a rune chain (+6 more crush over slash) with green chaps (+8 more crush than slash), or green body (literally +13 crush def over slash) with rune legs (only -2 less crush over slash). So even with the helm being rune, rangers are going to be tanky vs. crush.
As for pures, it's the same concept. Their dhide chaps are best against crush Again, coif is +2 crush over slash. Surprise surprise, both leather body (+1 better vs. crush) and iron chainbody (+4 crush over slash) are also strong again crush.
Like c'mon, what was jagex thinking? The meta is usually range to scim to bax/2h, or range to 2h. All logical range hybrid builds are tanky vs. crush. Pures are inherently tanky vs. crush.
They couldn't EVEN make it at least equal in accuracy? Are you shitting me? It should be +4 more accurate than r2h, not -4 less. And frankly, if you're risking it on death for what ever reason, it should be either = or +2-4 atk and an additional +2-5 str, whatever it takes to provide exactly 1 higher max damage hit. Even if they made it some weird shit where you only hit the 1 higher max say half or even 25% as often (if you roll your max hit, it would then roll chance for +1 "crit" higher, say 25-50% of the time) and equal or say +1 more accuracy, it would actually make sense.
Jagex was being dumb when they made that item. I'd genuinely risk it for fun more often if it was at least as accurate as r2h against my usual opponent, not to mention the weird delayed animation thing that kind of throws you off.

I used to play this game when it first came out & I loved it. I quit playing for years & just recently started playing it again. I wish I had my old character bc I was way up in it. Now I'm starting all over again. They have added a lot to it since I played years ago.
I played for my first time ever a few months back. Was fun, but I was so overwhelmed with all the content. Coming back hoping I won’t be so overwhelmed again lol
I'm up to lvl 84 combat 68 attack 68 strength & 67 defense, I've recently been working on ways to make money. Sell leather is good but takes some time. Saph necklaces are ok. Red spider eggs & limpwurt roots are some of the ones I use to make gp
@@jburg07 I did the same as dicerz buddy in the video came back years later after playing in like early 2000's high-school came back couldn't get my old account and felt lost coming back. I watched a load of money making earn a bond videos etc. And honestly the first things I'd recommend because it's just fun and your not grinding or anything too much is doing all the f2p quests (possibly find a guide for the best order) and then start trying to knock off some of the easier town diaries. Once you've done all that you'll have acquired quite a few levels as well as learning how certain mechanics and stuff work as they get taught to you in quests. And then if you've enjoyed it I'd consider getting a bond and doing a few members quests that give huge exp and many levels easily such as waterfall.
I'm a beginner and this helps a lot. Thank you. I've seen many people saying that they've played this when they were teenagers and now they're adults.

I got to the 750 skill level restricted world as a f2p and I still am f2p. Got some goals I want to achieve I never reached as a teenager when I played the game.

Like all i was doing was killing goblins which was fine because I was getting levels but I knew there was so much more to the game because I had seen clips. Ive gotten into osrs recently, and your videos have really made my life easier there, all love man, bless you. Your accent is the best as well, sometimes I dont even listen to what youre saying, i just listen to the way you talk :DD
The community is full of people that would have no problems chilling and helping new players. There is just such a massive disconnect between new and veteran players that has nothing to do with “elitism”. Ask for advice in-game. Many of us are simply too shy or don’t know how to go about offering help.
So apparently theres an npc in lumbridge that appears if you answer you are new to the game when talking to the first guy on tutorial island. he will give you little missions to level up skills along with rewards that involve the skill, like ores for mining, armor for defense bows for ranged so on so on. Highly recommend taking up this helper if you want some sort of guidance in the beginning.
Flipping on GE is a valuable skill to learn before going to members. With less items you get and idea of variety of ways to make money through trading what you got and can help pay for membership if someone decides to not pay to do memberships

@Rock Golem that's true, I always thought that upgrading to membership right after a fresh account wasn't worth it because of how little time you got in the f2p world. Yes, you could probably skill a little faster, but you could still save some bucks before going to membership. Also another reason is because of how much membership you might waste because of your low levels.
@Rock Golem You can literally quest a lot of your lvl 1 skills into twenties or thirties way faster than leveling normally. Yeah not the noobfriendliest way to do things, but you can't just say members isn't world's apart in xp rates if you want efficiency. Also a lot less crowded skilling areas with faster banking.
They should realistically expand what is offered in f2p for osrs even if just a little
I feel like I remember a section in osrs lumbridge that I can’t find online. There was a quest and area in the cemetery area that you could progress through and it was a marble looking area that once you got to the end and killed this skeleton (if I recall) you get a staff and then you could rinse and repeat. I play now but that area is gone and it’s just a quest for the ghost amulet now.

The rune scape community is a generous bunch. Cause this happened the other day (2023 September 6th is when this happened for the future friends) I made 1.4 million off fish, 25K off a sandwich, And 10K off of a little story I told. I have 4.1 million gold.

My buddy, who is a seasoned osrs player, told me to finish dragon slayer as f2p to see if I really enjoyed it before going into members, and it was totally the right decision. You get to enter members with rune, which is a huge burst for blasting through members' questing and training
Yeah it is the natural way! Too many try-hard players try to get newbies straight into members to be more "efficient"
Brys essence is up to 6.8mill and making the staff bumps it all the way up to 8 mill, that's insane! Def gonna try to grind that out just to have one

currently my fav money making method is selling capes simply stock up on team 1 capes till ur round 1000-2000 then sell them all for 1000-1500 depending on demand and then work on skills in the meantime or keep getting capes till they all sell u pay 50 per cape so a HUGE profit margen with capes rn

I used to play RuneScape back in the golden era around the mid 2000s all my friends at the time played but I was always behind them as I just didn't invest my time into playing the game, I preferred console gaming, when OSRS released I started playing again but I was on my own so I didn't last long playing the game before I got bored and stopped. since then I've reunited with my best friend and he plays OSRS I would love to be able to play it with him but he's pretty far along and a member and I would be starting from the beginning again so I can't see how we can really play together unless he agreed to make a new character I would like to try playing group Ironman with him possibly I just think it's a shame you can't really catch up to people in RuneScape.

Lol. I'm in f2p end game (post dragon slayer) and I came to this video hoping for an idea on things to do. I've got 4mil in the bank, all best in slot items, I've unlocked the ornate armor set and the skull scepter, all my amulets are trimmed. Getting close to base 60s in all my stats. It's getting to be time to go members, I just don't want to empty my bank for a bond and I don't want to spend money on the game

I'm brand new to OSRS and my friend finally got me to try it. my goal is to 100% F2P before i use the bond he's giving me.
so far my favorite area is after the quest Below Ice Mountain. killing those golems is really fun.
I don't think I'll ever convince my girl friends to play OSRS with me haha.

I have a f2p account that I originally planned to make into a members account once I got the money for a bond, then I delayed it to green cash stack. Just got my third green cash stack after buying gear and huge stacks of runes and whatever else I wanted/needed and I'm now considering keeping it f2p and maxing it eventually.

its funny watching this because all my time playing RS since 2008, i've never once felt the need to get membership. there's just something pure about an account where only the f2p stats are levelled up, or maxed
Wish I could transfer my gp from rs3 to osrs. I'm max combat on rs3 but osrs gives me the simplicity I crave.
Low level prayer is easy to train, slay what ever pick up loot n bones, click on next mob to slay and when the animation for attack is drawing back click bury. Insta bury's bone prayer xp will show up with attack xp and hp xp and no animation, no time spent really. Its just not a higher level method as fighting and strategy comes in to play with multiply zone combat best to rotate in 4s in a + symbol one hit to each mob. Learned that method doing slayer while pot'ing and praying in a area I couldn't use my Dwarf Cannon so I became it. 😂 would use 1 prayer pot up before running to alter for a full recharge. Turned 5 hellhounds per pot into 15.
Picking cabbage together is so fun. Wow.

When I first log into the game I just want cutting down trees And making campfires I had no clue what to do so I just made my wood cutting and fire making level go up I believe before I finally figured out that there is stuff I can do outside of the lumberjack live I got my wood cutting to 30 and fire making to 35

Idk if it would help but I made some videos on "maintaining membership", basically 2 videos of me becoming a member on a new account and showing how to make money to maintain membs through bonds

There are some great members quests that boost your stats.
I know one quest a lot of new members start with is the Waterfall Quest. Worth looking into to see if you meet the requirements

Find a money making method you like in order to get decent gear. You can’t do anything as a member if you don’t have a cash stack. Also do barbarian assault to get fighter torso

I JUST got started on this 2 says ago and I feel so bad because only a couple people have spoken to me but I usually go AFK to deal with my crotch goblins, rush back to my computer and Low and BEHOLD... someone spoke and left before i could respond... *sigh *
