Here in Argentina we have a 1890 cookbook, each recipe has a different author (friends and acquaintances of the lady who compiled it). Some are like this book you have, other are extremely detailed. Some recipes are amazing, and some wouldn't be considered completely edible nowadays. It's called "Cocina ecléctica" (eclectic kitchen or cuisine, not sure) by Juana Manuela Gorriti Zuviria
I love this one... They all deserve it.. even though there were some disagreement every team disagrees at some point but they worked TOGETHER to get it done. 👏👏
That is the BEST DAMN BOOK you guys ever found. The vagueness invites innovation not in the absence of knowledge but in the presents of naivety... love it.
The fact that it was exactly what it should have been is amazing, given that there was no picture and they had never made it before, AND they had a time limit. (Although we all know that's what makes them so amusing.) Practice is what aesthetics come out of, so I didn't think the criticism was valid on the pastry. Yes, of course they get the badge!
Here's a fun food fact for you guys: Did you know that pasta salad was invented by the Italian Jewish population due to not being able to cook pasta on certain days of the week, and as of such they needed to reuse cold pasta for meals on certain days Edit: also I vote for Mike, not only because he helped bind the team together, but also because he has had a LOT less opportunities for badges lately
@@hah3456 We can literally trace the origin for Fish and Chips to Sephardic Jewish immigrants from Spain and Portugal, who had been making it since the 16th century. In fact, the most famous cook in Victorian England, Alexis Soyer, had written in 1845 a recipe for "fried fish, Jewish Fashion" which had the fish coated in a batter before frying. IE modern day fish and chips. I don't even know why it's surprising. Jewish people have been serving fritters for Hanukah for ages
I think all 3 deserve the badge. Yes there was a bit of flaffing, but they each discussed their thoughts, and contributed to the whole. Especially the pit crew bit at the end lol. Barry may not have got the rice right, but he did know enough about the salmon to get the length of cooktime right. In the end no one is perfect, and mike noticed the mistake, dealt with it and made it work, maybe gave barry a bit of a hard time about it, but it was all in good fun.
20 seconds in and I'm already laughing. The choice to still frame up where Ben would be standing but having nobody there was perfect. Edit: The choice of a fish pie... even more perfect
I think that it'd be even funnier if there was a cardboard cutout of Ben there. Possibly even funnier if it was one with Ben's head on a physique that clearly wasn't his.
Considering none of you had any idea what you were making I think the finished result turned out stunning. Badges for everyone and each of you can choose a second badge of your choice from Ebber’s arm band. You functioned well as a team without a chef in the house!
Yes give them each a badge. I thought there were less meltdowns without Ebbers there. Just wondering could you have a soup off? Each of the guys given the same range of ingredients and they have to make a soup and maybe make the bread rolls to go with it. Thanks for more fun guys

Where do half the sounds in the french language come from? Also I think it's coming from the "eu", which, followed by the i, makes a "wey" sound. And of course, since it's french, the last 4 letters are completely silent. That's my uneducated read on how an uneducated man would read that word.
@@ozzem As a francophone... I also have no idea as to where half the sounds come from. I've learned not to question it too much and just go with the flow. The "eu" would make more of a "uh" sound, like saying the letter "E" in French. The "ille" as the end of it is not silent either, it's more of a "Yuh" sound really.
i think the badge should prob go to Mike this time around, he was the first to take charge and was the one to make the choices in the end. he kinda took the leadership role and kept the flow.
All the guys did work together well, debating and thinking aloud, Mike got me when he said took responsibility for not double checking the rice. Teamwork badge achieved in my opinion.

That is the BEST DAMN BOOK you guys ever found. The vagueness invites innovation not in the absence of knowledge but in the presents of naivety... love it.
Best summary ever!
An excellent format. Much more instructional than the battles imo as it is less fast-paced.
so so so much love for these kind of videos! the lack of prep, the delegation, the CHAOS, what more do you need!
It's almost absurd how much Jamie has leveled up
Honestly, they all did amazing in the realms of teamwork.
sorted: WE ARE DOING A RECIPE FROM 1914!
Townsend: I was born in the nutmeg, molded by it. I didn't see a modern oven until I was already a man.
Alternatively: Finally a worthy opponent! Our Battle will be legendary!
Here's a fun food fact for you guys: Did you know that pasta salad was invented by the Italian Jewish population due to not being able to cook pasta on certain days of the week, and as of such they needed to reuse cold pasta for meals on certain days
Edit: also I vote for Mike, not only because he helped bind the team together, but also because he has had a LOT less opportunities for badges lately
That's super interesting - thank you!
As was fish and chips, for similar reasons!
omg thats fascinating! where did u learn this?
Lol sure they invented cold pasta. They also say they invented fish and chips hahaha. They do like to brag on themselves with untrue wild theories
In the end no one is perfect, and mike noticed the mistake, dealt with it and made it work, maybe gave barry a bit of a hard time about it, but it was all in good fun.
as a person with Russian roots I'm excited to see this one, especially that Kulebiak is sooo easy for me to make ;)
Great job gentlemen! I love when that 1914 cookbook comes out! Bravo to all three of you! 👏
Hello Tammy
The boys should definitely get a teamwork batch👏👏
Mike - For comprehending it was similar to a wellington from the beginning, and for being so encouraging of the others
More of this! Would love to see the chefs do more of this as well.
Considering none of you had any idea what you were making I think the finished result turned out stunning. Badges for everyone and each of you can choose a second badge of your choice from Ebber’s arm band. You functioned well as a team without a chef in the house!
honestly yeah I think you guys do deserve a teamwork badge, also more of these "pre-historic" recipes
Mike undoubtedly gets my vote. Great leadership shown and great teamwork too even amidst a lot of confusion 🤣
Team effort was a win; all deserve a badge. Everyone worked well together and played a role throughout.
Yes give them each a badge. I thought there were less meltdowns without Ebbers there. Just wondering could you have a soup off? Each of the guys given the same range of ingredients and they have to make a soup and maybe make the bread rolls to go with it. Thanks for more fun guys
Mike wins the teamwork badge. 🤩And Jamie and Barry a big hug for their efforts. 🥰
I honestly think it was a bit over the top but they all deserve the badge. Mike deserves a leadership yes.
That was bang on! For the first try, without looking at a photo, that’s amazing!
So the normals scrambled in the kitchen while Ben was on a date? 😂 More of this, please.
Also, loved seeing the boys get even MORE flustered when Ben isn't there to give hints. Still, I'd say they pass 😉
It's really delicious. I'm a chef and I love cooking and I love making cooking tutorials. Love this job
Mike gets the teamwork badge..., constantly kept the boy's on track and made the important decissions. Well done Mike..., way to step up.
They should do a team work challenge where Ben would go in the roll of a real chef and command the rest as it is a real kitchen. And they have to work everything together to impress Poppy and James
Omg yes!!!
One wonderful snippet I missed upon first viewing, Jamie in the back, rubbing his ears, chanting “Wu-sah, wu-sah”. Had to pause the vid- I was busy howling with laughter.
Ok, I know they haven't ever touched on a gaming angle on this channel but I would LOVE to see the chaos of them playing Overcooked together 😆🙏
Isn't that basically what this channel is? IRL overcooked?
@@derschwartzadder basically, but all the surfaces are properly nailed down 🤣
Mike deserves the win this time. These are akways so much fun!!
Firstly, LOVE the return of this cookbook! Secondly, Mike has to win badge for organization and leadership, and Jamie can have a teamwork one too. Barry made weird decisions and didn't play along as well haha
I think that all the boys deserve a teamwork badge.
Yeah Mike acted as a leader, but part of teamwork is working with the leader and and the rest of the team. All the boys did work together and filled a role.
Finally some Russian cuisine! Been waiting for this for a decade
Mike is a natural leader. He always takes that role when it is required.
I would love to see a pass it on with this cookbook
That has to be the endgame. Everyone interpreting the instructions completely differently.
i love these teamwork challenges!
So excited for the 1914 cookbook return
ok
Mike deserves a leadership badge. And he and Jamie should have the teamwork badge. Barry should have pleasure of awarding them the badges
Jamie cost them the teamwork badge when he laughed and said that all the critiqued parts were Barry's. NO BADGES, woohahahahahahahahahah
They all deserve a badge. They worked great together.
if the alphabet ends with L in this book, that means there's 2 volumes to it and you've got volume 1
This is true! haha.
Ahhhhh someone needs to tell Barry
@@SortedFood We NEED to get the other book started ASAP. I love the instant panic when this book is seen,

@@Annie1962 They're on EVERY channel all of a sudden. Why?!
Mike holds the team together and simultaneously pulls it apart! I love these! It is like watching 3 siblings play while mommy's away!
mummy ebbers
Barry: "Milfway"
Me, a francophone, who loves Millefeuilles: *twitchtwitch* ... WHERE IS THE W SOUND COMING FROM????
same place the Y sound comes from paella, it's in the LL
@@timhyatt9185 But in this case, the y sound should be more like the Y in "Yes" or "Yellow". Not a W or an AY sound.
Where do half the sounds in the french language come from?
Also I think it's coming from the "eu", which, followed by the i, makes a "wey" sound. And of course, since it's french, the last 4 letters are completely silent. That's my uneducated read on how an uneducated man would read that word.
Mee yuh fur yuh
@@ozzem As a francophone... I also have no idea as to where half the sounds come from. I've learned not to question it too much and just go with the flow. The "eu" would make more of a "uh" sound, like saying the letter "E" in French. The "ille" as the end of it is not silent either, it's more of a "Yuh" sound really.
Mike and Jamie deserve a teamwork badge. And Mike deserves a leadership badge. They were able to succeed despite Barry.
i think the badge should prob go to Mike this time around, he was the first to take charge and was the one to make the choices in the end. he kinda took the leadership role and kept the flow.
the problem is with that logic only jamie should have gotten the meringue badge imo teamwork badges should be an all or nothing thing
All the guys did work together well, debating and thinking aloud, Mike got me when he said took responsibility for not double checking the rice. Teamwork badge achieved in my opinion.
7 min in and my vote is for Mike to get a badge!
Loved it, brilliant! Mix in more of these unsupervised teamwork scenarios.
"Preheat the salmon" 😂😂
Ben looks so sharp with the shirt and blazer.
Jamie going "Oh, it's a book, so it got words in it" after Barry asked "so how does this work?". hahaha Pure gold.
