We were shocked to find a grandfather clock thrown in the trash. We took it home and gave it a new life. We decided to upcycle it into a bookcase. What do you think? Follow for more trash to treasure finds!

It looks so cool! The amount of hate for such a lovely piece is insane. I mean One, this clock isn't valuable necessarily and it isn't some rare priceless artifact. Two, it's their clock. If you don't like it just scroll instead of leaving a snarky hate comment. Half of these commenters are grown ass adults too, it really makes my blood boil. I really do love what you did with it!

I have a diferent clock a grandmother clock that i got it broken but i fixed all and the entire movement and now i hear gorgeous Westminster Chimes

It’s not trash because it’s from the 1970’s. It’s trash that was coincidentally made in the 1970’s. There are clocks made in the 1970’s that have value. This isn’t one of them.
My parents got a brand new Seth Thomas grandfather clock made in the late 1970’s / early 1980’s when they first got married. It’s solidly constructed with cherry wood and has a German manufactured movement that plays Westminster Chimes on tubular bells. My parents’ clock is worth something. Not this piece of shit they picked up off the curb.

My husband assembled a very similar clock. The kit came from Emperor Clock Co. I think it is cherry.
After seeing how it was constructed I’d just put it back in the trash.

This was a very bottom rung el-cheapo clock to begin with. It was poorly constructed and had an electric motor.

I'm glad you decided to trash an electric clock that was already worthless to begin with. But if you think ruining things is "upcycling" you should stay away from actual antiques and don't ruin them for the rest of us.
Just because it’s electric doesn’t mean it’s bad. These clocks are still important and if everyone keeps hating on this, there won’t be any of these left in existence.

Some people think this is an heirloom. I bought 2 of these clocks in 2002 for $100 each at a furniture store. Edit: and always wanted to paint one white but freinds and family lost their minds when i asked them what they thought 😂

I did some research. This clock is the “Sheridan” model manufactured by Spartus Corp. (if anyone is interested). I don’t know how much they’re worth, but I don’t think they’re too particularly valuable. It’s not like they desecrated a Howard Miller.

The clock was just chilling until you came, picked it up and really trashed it. What the hell was the point of ruining such an amazing clock
So you removed the mechanics, pendulum, didnt replace the weight or oil the gears and painted it a different colour? You made a useless cabinet.

As soon as they pulled out the paint I knew the comments were gonna go wild lol. I also prefer the original wood colour, but it's not our clock so not our business. It's very neat and different now though! I bet no one's going to have a grandfather clock like theirs!

I would like to find a dumped grandfather clock. At least I can get one without spending $1M. All I need to do is figure out how it works and how to make it work again. Tools and the parts cost a bit only.
Looks like a grandmother clock to me and like mine. The whole top unit should just come right off because everytime you move it, its gonna need to be redialed

I'd agree they ruined the clock but it had a cord and incredibly thin housing so it wasn't really a true Grandfather clock anyway. Did you see that backing? 🤣😂

It's not worth investing in a low end clock .then u need westminister chimes if those are the fancy bell
@@robervar1097 if you have few sets of if you have few spare Westminster movements then it’s worth trying to make it work and having few spare sets of Westminster chimes bar allows you to make customized clock
