This was all done on my 2019 BMW 330i with the B46D engine. Just like the legendary six cylinder B58, modern four cylinder BMWs have a lot of potential.

Modern BMW engines have so much potential I am just wondering what reliability will be like in the future.
These B series are potentially the best design yet. Especially being a solid deck block with a block cradle. I have a 2021 430i msport. It has the B46TU. Stock at the moment its pushing 20-24psi boost. Im i highly considering this turbo package once my warranty is up
@@tlcj3838 i do agree that the b series are the best modern bmw engines in terms of reliability and tuning by design, but everything around the engine itself are something that we're yet to see in terms of longetivity and obviously reliability since they're relatively new 👍👍
@@indomieforlife I am currently at approximately 48k miles on mine. Still stock other than Dinan axle back exhaust. In eco pro if I hypermile it I can get 43-47mpg depending on wind and she’s seen 161+mph somewhere in Mexico lol. Will be doing Dinan Intake and a charge pipe upgrade to help with the longevity since the factory charge pipe is plastic. Supposedly they beefed up the plastic charge pipe.
@@indomieforlifeyeah so far emerging b48 issues seem to be related to rubber/plastic external cooling components failing with age and heat cycling. Plastic oil filter housing cracking, certain coolant houses also failing. The internals seem solid. Seems pretty typical for BMW based on my readings.
Any B46/48 gurus around? Got a 330 stage 2 BM3 with custom exhaust but having weird codes but cars running fine

Yeah approximately 475 horsepower at the wheels and 700NM at the wheels is what I’m driving it around at.
I have a 2022 230 and would love to get 350/350 HP/TQ on a 93 octane. This channel really makes this sound pretty easy.

Great result! I also expected b48 to deliver, it has all the ingredients to do it. Maybe the next step is to go into the engine and do all the stuff typically done to build b58s and see where it gets you powerwise?
Also, would be good to see you try swapping b58 from the f30 340i into f30/f31 328i
Yeah I’m debating if I want to throw a rod and piston in and target 500 whp but 600 WTQ all day long. Would be significantly faster drag racing with that much more torque.

We have made in Poland m140i with b58 engine for 675hp and 760nm of torque, so it’s like 560 ft lb. It’s doin 2,7s 0-60, 60-120 in 5,5s, you need to just made a hybrid turbo from it, hpfp dorsch stg2, downpipe and e20 fuel 😊

Yeah lol I still have the 135i manual that I beat on once in a while. But yeah the auto is lightyears ahead of the zf6 on the N54s and it wasn't bad with a service an XHP.

This is so cool to see, I have a 2018 f30 330I b48 engine I’m running a catless downpipe from VRSF and a aftermarket charge pipe from FTP motor sports, as for the tune it’s a simple stage 2 OTS map from bootmod3
I have same car but f31. Go for the e30 tune, it’s free and you get some more power and it sounds a little better. Where did you get the turbo downpipe gasket and clamp though? Cause when I ordered my downpipe it was out of stock and I can’t find them anywhere

The logs are happy thus far. Not worried about the pistons since I'm running ethanol, it would only be the rods but they aren't the week point even on the B58s being pushed to the limit.
Now this makes me excited for when the warranty for my g20 330i runs out! Over 500tq out of an unmodified 4banger is insane!

thanks for the very informative video! i have a f30 330i and ive wondered what the upper limits are on the engine. theres so little content/info out there for the little 4 banger! i a have a jb4, catback, mst intake and ftp charge pipe, as well as lightweight forged wheels and im really happy with how peppy the car is. not pushing crazy amounts of power but i think its perfect for a daily.

I've been watching you for YEARS. I let go of my FBO MHD stage 2+, X-hp stage 3 E93 335i a few years ago and bought a Model S. The Tesla is fast and I'm hooked, I'll never be without one moving forward. I have a 1995 Lexus LS400 that's got 150k and is clean as a whistle. I thought I'd keep it forever, but I think you might've got me thinking about a B48 as a 2nd car now!!!

Such a cool build, i’m glad this channel is getting the recognition it deserves.
We’ve all seen the run of the mill downpipe and tune B58, it’s boring now.
But a B48? You never see that, it’s awesome!
While i think the exhaust sounds good as is, i would love to see an unequal length turbo manifold/ header.
Some S63’s sound like a boxer 4 cyl (or any unequal length exhaust 4 pot), i think if the B48 had that and also had the same active sound design from an S63 powered car like the M5, it would be even cooler.
Inside it would sound like an M5 and outside would at least be reminiscent of it. The rumble and V8-esque sound.
The S63’s unequal length turbo manifold has a mix of cross plane crank and flat plane crank sound. A similarly designed turbo manifold for the B48 should yield similar results

Yeah the 60 to 100 mph pull is much stronger and 100+ is very surprising. Seems like it's pulling much harder than you'd expect even with north of 500 HP. I plan on timing 60 to 130. I bought a Racebox mini device to do so.

Crazy power! Whats your 0-60 and quarter mile times for your G20?
My map 6 JB4 G22 x drive hits 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and my best quarter mile is 11.8.
Water methanol injection on the turbo intake side should drop intake temps by a lot. And you should be able to push timing. Most kits are cheap and can use the the stock washer tank so keeping the stealth look. You should get 50 ish more HP and 90ish WTQ. But this would be crazy good with upgraded wheels and brakes and suspension. But one of these in Xdrive would really be great of the line in the 60ft and in the 8th mile but they would get passed in the high end.
Yeah luckily it has optional upgraded brakes already, adaptive m sport suspension and LSD. Wider tires in the back could help off the line.
Awesome to see somone with such ambition and dedication to a 4 cylinder BMW! I would ask you kindly to link me the connecting rods, wrist pins, piston rings and possibly con rod and main bearings that a performance B48 would use, because I have a 2009 BMW 318i with an N43 2 litre and I am researching into reinforcing bottom end, to prepare it for boost and long term endurance, might as well scoop out compatible parts from a B48, and I would love to hear from an experienced user like you.

Yeah on a big single should be able to do 600 whp as the torque would come on later and can be dialed down.

God knows how much horsepower the 300hp B48 (M35i, JCW GP) can handle... They have further strengthened pistons and rods. 700 maybe?
Yeah sounds like it, only issue is the auto trans that comes with them can't handle the same amount of power from what I've heard.

Thanks for the vid! The results are ridiculous and car sounds amazing. I plan on doing the same thing pretty much to my f30 330i 2018. For me to run the 330i pretty hard at the rack with reliability, what horsepower and torque do you recommend staying around (track) with the dyno and im450 turbo thats NOT going to stress the weak pistons in any way.
Since I love the canyons and track I def don’t need the bigger 500 turbo. I’m just concerned with acceleration & mid power basically and suspension. With the 450 turbo upgrade, the downpipe & charge pipe, intake, and b58 HPFP would that be cold killer at the track? If not what else would you add? Thanks!
That diffuser is special looking. Most these days are nasty vertical slats :\ This one is reminescent of E46 CSL fins.

I'll be timing the car soon, got a Racebox mini. If you have a 21 there is a small chance your car was made before June 2020, I'd check the production date. Otherwise yeah FEMTO unlock unfortunately.

I have a gr Supra 2.0 I love it how it is especially the handling I couldn’t afford the 3.0 at the time but now I paid it off and have some for mods I really wanna get it to 350-400 hp but I’m nervous of the parts and engine

Other than the 2019 G20, does the 2020, 21, 22 still have the same engine / Supra pistons prior to the LCI ?
And does the 2019 or above G20 330i have a tunable gearbox?
I paid $39k back in May with 17k miles loaded m sport with stitched seats, same color as you. It was hard to find and I waited 2 months on national and statewide sales of used 330is. I found they are hard to find in those loaded configurations.

I’ve been waiting for this !!! I’m glad to see you doing these videos on the B48 platform as I plan to get one soon. I’m now driving an Audi A4 Avant B8. These bimmers have my attention and I want something RWD and still fun and good on gas. I have V8’s already but there is something about making a 4 banger whoop some asses…nothing mor fun in my opinion.

My first car was a b8 saloon and it was an absolute shitter 😅. Burned and leaked oil like nobody’s business. I’m sure that your familiar with the timing chain/guide/tensioner situation as well that affected n20s
Yeah I’m familiar with the timing chains… weak chains and shit tensioner’s. I also know to stay away from the N20. I’ve been watching this channel since the start with the 335i content and all the nursing these things back to life and saving them from the scrapper’s. I’m a VAG guy at heart but I’ve always respected BMW and admired the way they appeal in all departments. This would be the perfect place to get my feet wet with in bimmer waters. It’s 330i or 230i. Any other suggestions as to weight or sport packages to look for would be helpful… thanks 🙏🏽
I have a standard option 2019 g20 330ix sport line. I've read that the m-sport has additional oil cooling. Beyond that are there other parts mechanically that differ/limit the sport line 330ix?

Around 320 oh e85 and closer to 350 with an upgraded intake manifold. No port injection required and torque will be over 400. This is at the wheels.
