seeing this organization of the charger from Dell makes me respect them. This seems like a really good and long-lasting design.

I think some people are here just to see how you open the brick. Perhaps a little more detail on how you opened it and where the clips are might help us open it without destroying it.

Most of chargers currently adopts ultrasonic welding, not fixed by clips.

why you are not teardown usb c cable? On this video we can see, what from usb c conector to power adapter soldered only 3 wires, that tell about smart usb c conector that speak with power adapter via one wire protocol and via standart usb with latop, smartphone, etc)
Thanks for video, its realy interesting)

    Bravo for all these details.
I have the same one with a problem, could you direct me to the problem?
The output voltage reaches 16 volts and cuts off to 8 volts and slowly rises back to 16 volts. he does this over and over again. I thought it could come from the NCP1937C4 primary power supply IC, I replaced it without success.
    Could you direct me?
    THANKS

Is the usb-c cable angled end removable from the box, can you simply unplug it or is it hard wired?

Do you know if a dell power companion Li-ion battery can be recharged after sitting unused, still in its packaging, after 5 years? It won't 'hold a charge' - pw7015L-65w.

90w Dell charger with barrel connector .Generated buzz sound and heat on day one itself .After 3 months, damaged with pop sound and smoke .Can you give a clue on likely cause. Was it a faulty piece .Its is useful as a firecracker to generate pop sound and smoke . 😀.I took a new one and again overheat on the. brick .Thanks in advance.

A non-USB-C HP charger typically doesn't work on Dell.. even though the specs are the same. I assume there is some Power Line Communication happening so that you buy only Dell chargers.
But does that apply to USB-C chargers as well? Can a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen9 work on a Dell?

the barrel jacks on HPs and Dells have a small sense pin in the middle that does very basic communication between the laptop and charger (I think it just outputs a fixed low voltage) so that they can verify that they are genuine/working correctly. In my experience at least, a Dell laptop will refuse to charge from a genuine Dell charger if the sense pin is not present, and a HP laptop will not charge from a Dell charger if the sense pin is present or not. It seems basically that both brands work the same on their own systems.
The USB-C on the other hand is universal (that is, in fact, what the 'U' stands for, but that is more about data transfer protocol) and uses the PD (power delivery) standard which is used by every laptop I know which supports USB C charging. So yes, you can Dell (or HP) USB C chargers on laptops from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple. And because these chargers are multi-voltage you can use them to charge your phone as well. The device communicates with these type-c chargers as well and this is how they can decide which voltage to output.

search them up to see what they look like and see if the leak originates from the base of one of those
