Thank you so much for this tutorial. I made one last Christmas in fleece for my daughter's dog who loves to snuggle under a blanket. She got a rescue puppy today so now they are a 2 dog family I've just ordered more fleece to make one as a Christmas present this year for the new puppy Monty. Thank you once again x

Whitney, you are a life saver! I have been trying to figure out how to assemble these so that the top has a finished seam for a couple of years! Your secret of leaving the opening in the inside pouch to pull the outside through is genius. I just made a beautiful UNC one as a Christmas gift. I will be proud to give it....

Whitney Sews Im going to need to make these for my 2 chi weenies (1 resembles the chihuahua & the other a minii dauchsand & a mini sharpei who is full of wrinkles. They r all 3 spoiled & thinkthey r part human. lol! I love them like my own kids. Blessings!
Thanks for sharing. This is one piece less than the one that I made for my dogs. It was from a store bought pattern. I will make one of these next. I have 2 chihuahuas and a dachshund, 4 cats, and a 2 guinea pigs. I made similar bags for the guinea pigs.
Whitney, that is so cute, I have three schitzu, I made them one 2 years ago, the one he uses his to lay on top of or to hide toys in, as well as the other two, well, they just had no interest in being inside.... But it is so cute, if I were a dog, I would lay in there.

We had two Doxies up until early December when our Roger passed. Now just Rosie... I made them something similar and called it a sack bed but used batting inside too for extra cushion and warmth. They loved it to pieces... I had used flannel pj material and after many years of washing it got retired. As you know Doxies are snugglers so we left two opening on the back side corners so they could escape another way. It often looked like we had a two headed doxie. Thanks for inspiration.

Love this! I have 2 small terriers and a Chiweenie. One of the terriers has a hard time burrowing under a thin blanket, but this will definitely help!

We have a 6 yr old male Pug and a 3 yr old female Boston Terrier. The Pug hates being covered up, but the Boston is always curling up under any blanket she can find, so I'm looking forward to making of these for her. Thank you so much for the tutorial.
I love your dachshunds. I have two miniatures. I made them beds with an attached snuggle bag, and they adore them.
This is a great project, I have three pups, a beagle, Shepard mix and a chihuahua. This will make a great bed for my chihuahua because I find him all the time curled up in the pillow cases on the pillows on my bed :) thanks for sharing this!
I have a Lhasapoo named Cece. She loves to stay by my sewing machine paddle when I make something and also she loves laying on my stash of fabric just like Annie did.

I would love to make one of these for our little dogs, but especially for my husband's dog Gypsy. She loves to snuggle and really needs a little bed like this one! I wish that my sewing machine wasn't broken so I could make one faster than hand sewing. My husband has bought me several sewing machines in the past 3 years, and I just have bad luck when it comes to using one! GRRR! I can never seem to get the tension right and it always bunches up the thread on the underside. (pulls hair out!) ;) ♥
Before I had come to see this video, I had made my little chihuahua her own little "puppy pocket" although I called it her little "nest". I used my son's baby blanket (he's 18 now) comforter. I folded it in half length wise and sewed it from the bottom and up the side. Left the top opened. Then I took another blanket and folded it and tucked it in. I'd show you but I don't know how upload a picture on this site. Thank you for sharing.

Omg this is awesome!! My mom has a dachshund/chihuahua mix and another mixed dog we dot know what sh is and they both love going in blankets!! Def gonna tell her to do this :) too bad my Boston terrier hates going under blankets lol even when it's freezing!

Love this! I'll have to try it. I have 2 King Charles Cavaliers. They are such good girls and would love this snuggly pocket to cuddle in together.
I have a Boxer/Shar Pei mix named Lulu (or Lady Lulu by me) that just loves to play. Then I have 3 cats- Xerxes, who stays at my best friends house, Zio is a stray that we took in that's usually too shy to be around peopple but brave enough to come in the hosue when it's time to eat and sleep (usually with my mom) then my third cat Desmond who is a little momma's boy that always stays by my side when I'm sewing or card making. :D

Why is it that Dachshunds are always cold? I'm looking to make a snuggle bed for my Dachs too, just want a design that keeps the 'entrance' a bit open, so I know there's always enough oxygen getting in.
Wynter192 I read one time that they get colder because they are lower to the ground then most breeds of dogs. My dogs have never had a problem with not having enough oxygen when in there bag, but you could try putting a bit of wire or something in the front cuff to give it some shape and keep it open.

Aww! So darling! And your dogs snuggling in it, crazy cute! Me and my guy have a Sheltie, she likes pillows and armchairs but is too furry for blankets or puppypockets. We also have two house cats, might make this for them! They love anything cave-like. =)

I've got 3 cats and one that LOVES being covered up. She would really go for something like this. I've gone into our bedroom and witnessed her using her nose to open the covers enough on the bed so she can crawl in, lol! She would really like one of these pockets. I was wondering if sewing fleece requires any special considerations before sewing. How big/small of a stitch should you use with the fleece, or doesn't it matter?

I would love to make puppy pockets for my Basenjis but 2 of the 3 shred any blanket that is not crocheted. I do plan to make dog beds for them off your dog bed tutorial though. =}
My boyfriend has an outdoor cat, who spends most of her time on the porch. It's a small porch so I can't put anything big there. His parents made a doghouse for her in the backyard, but she never uses it because wild animals tend to steal it. I've been racking my brain to make something weather-proof, small, and cozy for her. If you have any ideas Whitney I would really appreciate it! Thank you :)

Well, Snoopy the mix Jack Russell /Chicuacua is going to get a puppy pocket from Grandma E.. Then maybe he will only sleep on /in the pocket and not on the couch or at least take up less room. Cute tutorial

We have 4 dogs. 2 toy poodles, a cocker spaniel and one large saint Bernard!!!! We also have 2 adult cats and just acquired an abandoned 3 week old kitten. Will definitely be making one for the toy poodles who insist on sleeping UNDER MY BLANKETS!!!!
What a fantastic idea, and Whitney your dogs are so adorable. We have a cat and she'd LOVE this. She is constantly climbing into bags and boxes and even my handbags, whether she fits or not! Its cold in Northern Ireland pretty much all year round, so she'd probably love a snuggle bag despite being a long haired cat. Boy oh boy does she puff up to nearly twice the fur in the winter. She looks massive but its all fur, she looks so funny.....just a big grey fur ball with eyes, lol. Lee xx

I am going to make my dogs one, but I figured to let an opening so they can see where to get in, instead of having it lay flat, I thought of putting a piece of garden hose from one side to the other through an opening before I close that outer hem, only on the top half. I wonder if that will work, it should.

I grew up with weiners, my husband grew up with weiners, our parents still have weiners but we have a siamese cat who might as well be a reincarnated weiner. She (Bella, short for Bellatrix) snuggles under the the blankets with us and sleeps curled up in a body crevice, pokes me in the face at 5am with a soft paw and a little meow to let me know she wants snuggles, and looooooves to play. We sometimes call her Rumpus Kitty because she gets so rambunctious.
