Hello Ashley and everyone watching this video! I made this bed a year ago using Ashley’s wonderful tutorial! My cat loved LOVED LOVED IT! Now a year later, my kitty has made good use of her bed and I’m ready to make another one for her. I’m going to work on it today YAY 😍 I highly recommend this tutorial and it’s perfect for beginner sewers too! Your cats will thank you for it as well 💝

A little tip I learned, put the cord in a straw and stick it through, it’s so much easier! I kept losing my cord so I put it in a straw with a rubber band around it and stuck it through it works perfect

This is a great way to use scraps as filling. I am definitely making one soon!
That’s why I was looking for a video! I have so many scraps, that I can’t use but also don’t want to throw them away, cause environment... so I thought I just make a pet bed, keep it next to my sewing machine and put all the scraps I can’t use in there, once it’s filled I close it up and donate it to one of the local animal shelters

Even though I’ve been sewing for over 50 years, I learn new tricks and techniques from you, Whitney, Vanessa and other talented sewists on TH-cam and Pinterest. Your hint to put tape around the safety pin before threading it through the casing is brilliant. Just last week my safety pin opened up midway through the process. UG! Bring on the seam ripper.
I saw this project demonstrated in another site - Sew Yeah - recently. Very cute, easy and practical idea, and easy to wash! I think I’ll use elastic around the outside edge rather than cording.

I use a "hair clip" to threaf the cord...can never go wrong..works like a bomb..thanks...your video is great!!!

That's awesome! And they are so quick to work up, people even use old blankets or maybe to to the thrift store to find some blankets to cut up

@@Charmedbyashley I did my first "practice" one yesterday, so learned a few things to make it easier, especially re the packing. So now I will get some material in our club colours and make four for our Supreme" winners cages, these cats will get to take them home as prizes. Thank you again, I will try to get pictures for you but I am the Secretary so the day will be hectic at, "The New Zealand Shorthair Cat Association" Championship Show on 13 August.

Aaaawwww. A wonderful idea. LOVE IT. I've got 14 cats all were ABANDONED, ages 4 years to 20 years. Can't believe I've had him for 20 years. The 19 year left me in Feb 2019. The 2 oldest cats were found in a basket at a bus stop. There were 6 kittens, they left me from the age of 7, one by one, only one is left. My giant puppy my baby Newfoundland runs off with my kitties pllows. Sometimes I find them in her pool. I'm shy to say but 8 of my rescued cats occupy 3/4 of my bed. I gave the others a large bed so they are comfortable downstairs. Some of them get under the pillow cases to sleep instead of lying on the pillows. Worth making YOUR pillow for my puppy. It looks soooo beautiful and comfy. thanks for sharing and caring.💕👍👍👍🐾🐾
Ahhh!!! Haha that's awesome! These beds can be so cheap and easy, even using old blankets and those blue whale pillows for stuffing u could make one for the whole fam jam! Haha

Oh y're RIGHT. One XXL for the 5 of them would be great. I can visualize the 5 heads in YOUR pillow and their tails sticking out. My cats are really big. 5 always bundle up together on their big bed. The old boy has his big bed and prefers to sleep alone. He's sad as he lost his last sister. Wish you a pleasant nite from France. Its 1.20am here. I'll cut out my pattern first thing in the morning when some of the cats are outta the room. If not they'll sit on the fabric or play peek a boo. 😴😴💤

Once I got this tiny kitten, we named him Gizmo, and he grew up to be bigger than his half brother, they share a mommy, his half brother, Maximus was two years older than him and still Gizybee was larger than him. And Gizyboo was so Beautiful he had blue eyes and big six toed paws, a loud meow, a dark brown tail and face a light brown body from neck to top of legs and bottom of tail, his fur was so long and beautiful and his ears dark brown, he was Siamese like his mommy.
