From that I learned that we are poor because we make ourselves poor. Also a reminder that something is worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.
The main reason the resell is more is because it is more limited so that causes hype because it makes people want to have a shoe that less people have and there are less shoes for everyone (supply and demand)
In the old days sneakers were just for gym class nobody wore them outside as dress shoes, then something happened and companies started marketing them as a status symbol, everyone had to have the latest new balance or british knights or reeboks and of course the price reflected this.
because they are so hyped! That’s it. Scarcity is a factor but not important because if people don’t go nuts over these pairs of shoes, having 1 or 2 or 3000 pairs just doesn’t matter at all.
this hurts to watch, not that it was hard to watch it was really beautifully made but come one, everyone knows that it's because of rarity, demand, and on of the biggest players of all time being the inspiration

1:04 I have those black and red Jordans. Never wore them twice because I feel uncomfortable wearing them. Now all I hear is scolding from parents for buying such an expensive pair of shoes
I could write a whole thesis paper on the gentrification of the sneaker industry lol
i stop being a sneaker head when i saw my room and sid " what i have i done"
Da faq
that and the kidnapped children in your basement
TLDR: False scarcity, and demand from iconic designs
That’s the difficult part is when you’re not a super sneaker fan you see a shoe you really like but…yeah it’s crazy expensive and honestly that money could go to gas, food, rent, etc ya know :/
You can’t compare fragments with the entirety of the yeezy v2 line, that’s just one shoe that does get an exultantly high resale value.
The reason they are 2000 is cause they are fragments lmao not just cause they jordans
What are fragments?
Éclair Limited collab between Jordan brand and Japanese brand fragment design
Éclair some high end foreign brand that put their logo on it 😂
Because theres a stamp and that colorway. Stupid AF to pay for that much for shoes. Use as it decor cor your house if you even own a house
tyler durden it’s the resellers man. Retail is like 160 US
Jordan’s Top priority was always addidas and they straight up rejected nike tried all thier best to presuade him from the start and he still didn’t wanted it and next option he went was Converse and they did the same and at the end they got him and now they made that shoe a legacy and the company is right there in the top.
they don't sell you the product, they're selling you the idea.
Right. It's very cheap to make the product, but pricey to hire marketing specialists and talent to sell the idea.
If the shoes really held value, they wouldn't have to make it more expensive by hiring professionals
Yeah right idea. Fragment is very creative with the colab with Jordan lol.
and what's the idea? hh really just bs. But I think it's something to learn from. You make something attractive with reasonable to good quality, an everyday use item, make them limited and keep it that way, you're in for a competition.
"buy these and you'll be cool/athletic/skilled/rich/famous like mj."
What do you expect people are idiots
The same idiots that wait in line for these for hours are the same idiots that think getting into NBA is easy (it's not)
RG really? Do you know every single sneaker enthusiast?
The people that buy reissues are smart. They are collectors ítems that only increase in value. It has nothing to do with wanting to be like MJ. The people calling others idiots for buying them are probably too broke to afford them.
Yes and that’s why I prefer luxury brand sneaker for similar prices.
IM STILL HERE WEARING MY FLIP FLOPS
a fool and his money will part! that never gets old! I've had problems with Nike shoes period though. Made me try other brands. Adiddas, Asics, UA, Fila ect. Good stuff.
Who is here after watching „Air“? This is your post😍
It’s supply demand and hype there’s no marketing or commercials for these hyped sneakers you guys should do some research because every OG shoe you are calling expensive are going to $20-$100 over retail and one of the most popular Jordan of all time, the 11 concord, you can find for $250 brand new.
I paid $125 for Jordans back when they came out...starting with the #3.
Compared to today....its way cheaper today.
There was a time and still a time most around the world where people worried or worrying would they get to eat tomorrow
People pay that price because P T Barnum once said, "there is a sucker born every minute."
E P Ramos do you wear sketchers or shaqs?
K Jeezy 😂
E P Ramos your living proof of that 😂😂
People pay those prices because they're insecure. They require validation from others. They have 0 style. Sneakerheads are mostly sheep when it comes to fashion. It's an addiction. A disease.
BloodFacedBeeatch not really
Outline is that they are making less shoes to keep the demand inflated cause of their brand value
Real talk bro 💯 Tru

@Hello Jason s p u r l e y, How are you doing?
@@lydiaanderson2870 We rich We see the hype outside Eyyy Fireeeeeee GLock Chains Eyyyy Millinal GANG EYYYYY Got 90k Chain OMY NECK EYYEYYEYEYYE RIVCHHHC
Also, the "Jordan 1" that MJ wore that got him banned weren't Jordan 1s, they were Nike Air Ships
5:23 my guy Seth Fowler made it
Owning a pair of Air Jordan is a dream come true
“The sneaker jorden is the jorden shoe that sparks niga-culture today”
Am I the only one that heard that? 7:39
Abel Martinez he said sneaker 😂
Oh
Snacks culture I hear
I heard him say it with a hard r
Limited amount of shoes + Big demand = large resale profit
Also these Jordans were a collaboration with a Japanese designer brand
Aside from Air Jordan, I also like their Zoom. Great for running and biking. I hav both AJ1 and Zoom.
The creases...
They’re killing me
Nike should make more Stores so People can buy Jordan's and all of their shoes
whenever they want.
Ayo imma need that beat/song during the closing section 🙏 fire vid too 👍
"Those were the first shoe that people saw and wanted more than the average shoe."
There are a bunch of old, reputable shoe manufacturers that would like to have a word with you, young man.
When you live in america and you find out going to university isn't a big deal in other countries.
XpertPandazz When our wages let us buy shoes without worrying about money.
@@A.D.D.O.C.D.T ?
Thanks for making this informative and interesting video just subscribed
let’s ignore the fact that you can to buy a pair of air Jordan’s for well under $100 and and say they’re expensive because certain pairs (usually collaborations) RESALE for thousands
From that I learned that we are poor because we make ourselves poor. Also a reminder that something is worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.
I got into Sneaker seeing Miles Morales rock that Jordan 1 chicago. I never realized those were so expensive.
The main reason the resell is more is because it is more limited so that causes hype because it makes people want to have a shoe that less people have and there are less shoes for everyone (supply and demand)
I'd never pay for more than 250€ for ANY shoes, no matter how good they are. My most expensive ones were 210€
In the old days sneakers were just for gym class nobody wore them outside as dress shoes, then something happened and companies started marketing them as a status symbol, everyone had to have the latest new balance or british knights or reeboks and of course the price reflected this.
Min 7:06 The 100 on the graph should be a 1000. @business insider
I know their profit margins must be real juicy...
Probably but Nike doesn't make that $2000 since it's resale not retail
because they are so hyped! That’s it. Scarcity is a factor but not important because if people don’t go nuts over these pairs of shoes, having 1 or 2 or 3000 pairs just doesn’t matter at all.
Most branded items shoes cost 30$ to make but the logo costs $1970.
fragments were also way harder to get and waaaay more limited than red stripes lol 💀
The Fragment 1.0 2014 are so fire
I think you guys missed the mark, using the fragments directly, collaborations and limited supply is the biggest reason. But okay.
if the questionable 3s they used at 2:53 were any indication. They have no idea what they're talking about in this video.
this hurts to watch, not that it was hard to watch it was really beautifully made but come one, everyone knows that it's because of rarity, demand, and on of the biggest players of all time being the inspiration
I can't even find a pair of jordans online to buy anymore
So initially Jordans cost $65 and even today I would not pay $65 for a pair of shoes. I don't despise sneakerheads who have the money and are independent but the ones living with their parents are apparently lucky enough to be special.
Damn
You must have some shitty low quality shoes lmap
Damn that's too bad you won't spend over 65 there are shoes that are very comfortable but priced at 100-200
Yeah some good sneakers for like 100-200
Never knew about sneaker culture and sneaker heads
All my life wearing shoes so I won't be barefoot XD
I got a pair of Jordan 1 Patton leather, I got in Miami.. they are not in perfect shape..but they are still worth over $100 use 🤯
im 40 and still wear my J1s to work from time to time
Gold Dragon what colorway you got?
Your cool dad
Can't wait for to see the next generation kids to start wearing yeezy as retro sneaker and tell that bring nostalgia of their childhood 😂
This video has incorrect info. MJ did not get injured in the Air Jordan II. He was wearing Jordan Is. He came back wearing the same shoes after the injury, as well, and went on to drop 63 pts. on the Celtics that playoff season. He wore the second Jordans all year in the 86-87 season, the year he averaged a career high 37.1 pts. in the season. The third Jordans came out the year after.
@ 0:29 Business Insider messed up the graph, it says $100 instead of $1000.
Good spot
How'd you even see that?
@@justrandomthings319 It's always important to look at the content of the graph and make sure it displays info correctly. It's something business school taught me.
@@bluejay12100 I just meant it as a compliment that you have good eyes. Did you pause the video to look at the graph or see it while the video was playing the first time you watched it?
@@justrandomthings319 Thanks and I glanced at the graph for a few seconds and saw the error.
You should do more research before making a video like this. A lot of false statements
Michael Jordan didn't actually wear the Jordan 1's in his rookie season.
He wore Nike Air Ship in a red and black colourway which was against the nba rules.
Honestly, check out the rookie season!
I just purchased a pair of jordan 1 mids and sat me back £120 so not that bad in really
Next on Bussiness Insider : " Why Is Coccaine So Expensive "
This hurts to watch, the fragments are more expensive because they are way more limited than the 350s. LMAO do your research before creating a video
Eh still think the video was nice
Watching bug out get his Jordan four white cement stepped on in do the right thing It’s such a monumental scene especially since they weren’t so rare back then and they only cost like 100 bucks if somebody stepped on those shoes nowadays they would be murdered no questions asked
Can you do why Louis Vuitton is so expensive
