If you want parents to listen, the ones that are helping our children every day, some of us every hour, quit dismissing the "theories" we have literally seen work, such as food allergies/reactions. When my child was younger, I could tell you which food he ate by the reaction; they were that defined. You might want to add "Is This Your Child," by Doris Rapp to your reading. It was life-changing for us. Some parents, me included, work our entire parenting lives dealing with it and problem-solving because I refuse to medicate the problem away, which is malarkey anyway. So, the parent issue may be true for most, but not for us. In addition to teaching my own children, I've successfully taught classes of all ADHD students, both on and off medication, and continue to do so today.

This video is hard to watch. Beside disabilities, or better to say learning differences, many these kids have strengths that are totally ignored.
ADHD, Dyslexic, etc. kids process information differently that may result in great creativity, hyper focus in the activities, projects they like, learning while fidgeting, jumping around, etc. (that may help them to focus, which is not allowed in regular classrooms with many students).
I am trying to use my children’s strengths while studying with them. One on one, or a small class works the best. The teachers together with the parents’ help can find what strategies work best and motivate children accordingly.
Parents need to be very careful choosing the right program, or school, observe teachers as much as possible, help them, educate themselves.
Half of the teachers couldn’t teach my children, they didn’t have the patience, or experience, or the knowledge how to handle the kids. The other half were/are brilliant and can engage my children.
I am closely monitoring my kids’ educational experiences. If the environment or the teachers are not a good fit, I change the teachers, learning centers, programs, etc. It works well for us. My children are able to interact with the typically behaving and learning peers, cope with somewhat noisy classroom environment (still learning the skill), and are doing well in homeschool program and in online classes.
The key is to customize their education according to their learning strengths, with minimum distractions, giving them brakes, a prize upon completing a school day (whatever motivates them).
Throwing ADHD kids into regular classroom or segregate them as in this video is an educational failure.

The parents of ADHD children struggle at parenting their children at home. Many times that means the child spends more time by themselves, more time in front of a screen, and less time engaging with people in a balanced and structured way. They don’t have a healthy diet at home so their mood swings back and forth… added sugars and a high concentration of fatty processed foods… So when an “adhd” child enters a classroom where they need to focus on a single voice or a single activity… it’s completely foreign to them. And if their home atmosphere is completely out of control… or they’re simply lonely at home… you will see a child who exhibits adhd symptoms in a classroom environment… TEACH THE PARENTS. FORCE THE PARENTS TO CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIORS.

The children (with the Blue cards/bad behaviors) should still be allowed to play with the other kids, so that they can learn how to interact with them & copy their good behaviors. The teacher & aides should supervise & point out the appropriate behaviors to everyone especially to the child who needs to learn to control his behaviors. Separating the child & giving him demotions is indefensible, mean, & totally inappropriate. You’re segregating & punishing him 👎🏼👎🏼

@@CocoChanelle-1 that's not always true. My daughter had ADHD. Still does but she's 33 now and has learned to manage it.
Her dad and I were literally Nerds. Neither used drugs or alcohol and our parents were the same. We did extensive family research on both sides of our families because it was so important to us to understand our daughter. Conclusion? Some people are just born with this or it is from childhood vaccines? We never found an unvaccinated child with ADHD or ADD issues. Even now we continue to look.

This video is outdated. Universal design of classrooms asks us to consider the environment. This video is highlighting what's wrong with the adhd child not whatsxwrong with the environment and the school system.

I hope viewers are aware that some of those methods used by the teachers are outdated and no longer used. Sitting the child in a closet facing the wall is a big no no . Also a child can be corrected and redirected without being shamed like this little boy was😢. The task behaviour method is damaging because the child associates writing with bad behaviour. I like the younger teachers method of touching the children gently and speaking in a calm gentle tone. The older teacher who put the child in the corner seems irritable and on edge. There are so many things wrong with this video the most glaring is not integrating children with adhd in a regular classroom with support. YT should take this outdated video down for disinformation.

Chalk boards! Giant glasses! Left brained classrooms! Ruuuuunnnn!
Kids are meant to physically learn their environment FIRST, not glued to a chair for 7 hours until 18 hours a day.
    It's not a new thing, it's unbrainwashing.

What is outdated? I feel like this is still useful. This type of intervention I think should be used or introduced when you are teaching kindergarten when school starts. The charts can be removed when the students have mastered the behaviors in the classroom. It could be then revisited when a child reverts back to the unwanted behaviors in the classroom. This intervention is beneficial to all the students and not just the child with ADHD or other issues.

@@norM_ystical Do your own research. ABA is just a teaching technique just like others. It all depends on who the teacher is. Just like regular school if you get a bad teacher you can be abused. I'm on the spectrum and use verbal behavior type ABA with my son and it's made me a much more positive patient parent. It's far from abusive. Don't listen to haters online. They don't even know what it is.
