- BHO 670J celebrated it's 40th Birthday on 17th June 2011.
Following serverals years absent from the rally scene, this video shows that the coach is mobile and will be on the road for the new rally season.
There are also a few photos within this video of the coach during it's 19 years in preservation with Redmann.
BHO 670J will be participating in the 50th anniversary events of the Bedford VAL chassis, which is taking place within 2012. More info is availiable at www.bedfordval50.co.uk - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I got to see a Bedford Val at the Lincolnshire show this year 2023 didn’t get a ride in it but to see these great coaches I was overwhelmed l am so happy to see one on the road 👍
lovely VAL coach, a reminiscent of the glory days of the great Bedford.
N N Creswell of Evesham Had Bedfords :-) One of them is JRB 663V a Plaxton 'Supreme 1V' bodied Bedford YMT Now long gone :-(
Great video great sound 👍
classic stuff for a great classic bus! long live the val!
just wish we could find one of the ex barton vals! been looking for years not the yeates one tho any of the others plaxton or duple or harrington!
hope to see the val at next years party.
cheers ian.
Do you know if it once belonged to Buddens Skylark of Romsey as that reg is local to my hometown? Buddens had VAL70s in the early 70s with Telma brakes. Took me to school. My favourite coach with the Duple body. Classic!
@leopardstudio1299 Thanks for your comments Ian. :-)
Hope to see you at one of the gatherings next year. If you come, make sure you find me and say hi. :-). Sadly only Barton VALS still in existance is the Yeates 966 RVO example, which is preserved with Fowler, Holbeach Drove.
Nice coach! This looks like the one from the 1969 "The Italian Job" movie with Michael Caine in it. Very fitting music as well :).
Not to be an anorak about it, the Italian job coach was on this chassis but it was a Harrington Legionaire body, this one is a duple.
A lovely Val is that...
Is it on the road now?
fantastic....true blue !
I took my pcv test in a Bedford YMQ!
Thanks red347
Did you do one for her 50th?
Nice bit of editing!
@1100HondaCB It has a Bedford 466 engine. This engine was fitted into the Bedford VAL 70.
Very unusual for a bus to have 2 axles front,I have not seen that before.
What engine is in it?
@deandave123 Bedford 466. Is that 466 cubic inches. I knew it wasn't the usual Leyland, AEC or Gardner lump, but couldn't place it. Thanks for the info.
Are there any new or recent video's
The engine is in the front?
All Bedford VAL's had engines in the front - under the cowl beside the driver.
Would you ever sell it? -its a lovely coach..
I hated these VALS with a vengeance! 1st sniff of a hill they virtually stopped and on wet roads the front end was lethal. One of the few vehicle types I did my best to avoid. On the credit side, the passengers found them quite comfortable.
