The crown is very important part of being a waver. Back in the day when I was a waver I’d go to school and my crown would be messed up and people would be like you have a bald spot and it’s like it’s my crown smh lol😂🤦🏾♂️
On god I used to get mad when they would say “Aye why you got a bald spot?” You try to explain what a crown is and they dgaf.

Great tip about cutting the crown a guard high than the rest. I think your cut looked great. I have been cutting my own hair since 1991 college days and have learned a lot from barber's, others who cut on the side as well as from my own errors. I have learned a lot from your post as well. @@qiana1976 she's Hella good, for what she does. Hopefully I learn hair add-ons. I can pretty much fade and stuff. My lines around the head is pretty bad and I can always increase my fading which on myself is presiten but on others I lack in comparison to my own hair.

I guess I'm lucky. As a white guy with straight hair all I do is a 2 on the sides 8 on the top undercut. No blend, no texture. I ain't been to a barber in years. But on the other hand, I've got "straight white-guy hair", even compared to other white people. When it's that short, I've got to put a half-dollar sized glob of Murrays in to keep it down, otherwise, it sticks straight up and I look like a walking makeup brush.

I always try it a guard size higher, but it keeps looking too high, so I end up cutting it too thin. Its amazing how the weakest areas look thick from certain angles and work on the mind. Self-haircutting can be very frustrating.

@@bernardovaldez9072 I mean I ain't no barber but I do have very straight hair that's hard to style and manage. I used to go into this local barbershop in inner city and they gave clean fades but couldn't cut the top at all. I went to a barber in the city centre and it costs more but but they listen so much better and have more skills. Look online and go to a well respected (more preppy kinda) shop and they honestly are so much better with the shaping aspect and you can ask them for reccomendations
@@bernardovaldez9072 also make sure you are using the right product, so if you are looking for a high hold on top use a firm hold matte clay on your hair when it's dry. If you want more movement with it use a cream.
