- How to replace the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor on a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, 2016 Hyundai Sonata or 2017 Hyundai Sonata due to check engine code P2122. My model is the SE model with the standard pedal.

Good sir. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my wallet. My dealership said it was going to cost me 850 dollars to unscrew to bolts and one plug. I just wanted to say thanks . And just to disrespect the dealership I changed it in their parking lot right in the face of the mechanics and service manager . Was done in three mins and gave a polite wavy when I drove away . Thanks, man. I got the part on rockauto for 170$. And that's all it cost me .
You are the man. Stupid dealership tried to charge me $758 to do this replacement. They just lost business with me.

Thank You Joe mine went out today and like you im in Atlanta. So I went to the dealership and bought it for $321. I put it in in about 10 minutes. THe dealership was going to charge $275 to install it

P2122 means a problem from the wiring/voltage coming from the computer side of the vehicle and not an issue at the sensor on the pedal unless you also have another code. DON’T BUY THE PART FIRST. Buy any cheap multimeter tester and check the wire connector that connects to the sensor on the pedal. I will be doing that once below freezing weather allows.

Mine just had this. I was about to turn left on a big street, but luckily there was no traffic but as I was turning the car didn't want to accelerate anymore, the check engine light came on and for a second there I thought my car had stalled for like 3 seconds and then I could accelerate again.
I took it to auto zone right away and it came out with this code which is why I'm here. The check engine light came off but after using a different obd scanner, I'm still getting the same code even though the check engine light is not on. Does that mean I need to replace it and could my car suddenly stop accelerating while driving? How dangerous is it to drive my car like that knowing the code is still there but the check engine light is off for now?
Whats the process for "learning" or reprogramming it? Just had this work done at a shop. Thats what they told me.
Went to an auto shop and this code came up on my 2016 model sonata. The engine light goes on and off from this code. Is it possible that it’s the car battery going bad and that’s why this code comes up?

Well mine the check engine like is off but a different obd scanner still pulls up the code. Perhaps this is a temp issue which can lead to a serious unexpected accident later? What are your thoughts on this?
@Ki1ngOfGods did you do some tests on the wiring and throttle body? As the code could also come up because of those
@@icywrath5384 I did not, but now that you brought it up, I will do this and keep posted. The light is completely off now. Either it was a false alarm or the issue is somewhere in there.
Light came back on again and car was having acceleration issues while accelerating after a green light. I thought it was going to die on me but car kept going, and the light went off. I just ordered the pedal now, online, I'll keep posted.

You should tried to clean it with an electronics cleaner. Also a dead battery could be also am issue
Pedal replaced correctly and check engine light still on,, dealership wants 160$ just for diagnostic check that is non.refundable. claims has to be electronic reset. Car has 55,000 miles and its not under warranty. Total B.S.

What was the symptoms before replace the TPS?Is your vehicle cranking at the time?
My vehicle stall while I driving. Then it would not start after that. Speedometer cluster started to flicker and various message popping up, such Check SCC, check smart high beam system, Check FCW system, Check LDWS, check TPMS... Were you experienced similar message on the speedometer clusters? The ODBII meter showed following error code p2127,p2122, p212200
