My fave at the first listening from this album: I’m Fine, Still There and Counter. After listening the remaining songs (Monster, Melt Down, She Smiled, Shxxty Game, Help Me Rock & Roll) at their concert (Forever Young) I started loving them more😂. They added few adlibs at the live performances so the songs become more enjoyable for me.

1:09:18 This is a very intentional punny? lyrical moment actually. The lyrics are about a guy that wants to confess and is really scared and is hoping to borrow the help of "Rock&Roll" i.e. a "cool" song to help him confess. So when the shoo-bee-doo-bap part comes, YoungK follows up with - "Not this kind of a song", in an almost panicked, fast manner. So yeah I see why musically you're not a fan. But it's a very very well timed moment, lyrically. I love this song because of all the great lyrical moments. It's really quite different to how they usually write songs. It's almost like a webtoon character singing this when he's bursting with feelings before a confession. I think the denimalz sounding moments also add to this feel of the song.
27:54 I was same like Umu, I'm not really a fans to Melt Down at first, but after their concert at Jakarta, MELT DOWN IS TOTALLY SONG THAT I LISTENED EVERYDAY TO🤩 Cuz I remember how amazing the drum snare at back, it feels like "DHUG DHUG DHUG" shaking my body up to down
its been 3 months and i still cant get over the vocal harmony layering in the bridge for monster,, feels like im ascending to heaven everytime i listen to it
young k actually said they got not fine's chord progression, flipped it up, and worked with "im fine" as keywords for the new song haha so idk if it's a total response to the lyrics and situation from not fine but they're definitely related.

Funny thing is She smiled is their best charting b-side feom bandAid in Korea. It was on the charts for a while. Its also my least favourite song from this album. But i love this album overall. Moster, Still there, Shxtty game and I'm fine are my top songs.
I think it's cause the difference in how it sounds live vs the studio recording is insane. When bandaid first came out, my first favourites was Shxtty Game and Monster. Then I saw them in October, and She Smiled shot its way up and knocked it out of the park. It's a very sweet song and hearing them sing it in person just feels so much sincere and lovely
interesting points on the songs, some of em made me appreciate the bsides more.. Shxtty game and monster are literally the stars of this album for me ❤ close runner ups are counter and help me rock n roll
My personal top 3 is Still There, Monster and I’m fine but there are times when Counter sneaks up there. I hope you and henry would give us your thoughts after seeing Day6 live as well!!
Finally! i was waiting for your thoughts on the album. As for me i kinda digress with umu since i´ve always wanted to listen to a day6 album with high paced rock from start to finish ever since i heard Warning! back in the youth part 1 era and they just gave me exactly what i wanted🤣. Not all songs in the album are like that but you can still feel that Rocky sound that sometimes got lost in their more experimental songs from other albums, my absolute favorites were Meltdown and monster since i cant decide which one is my favorite and i rank it number 2 on my list only veaten by the demon which is my favorite album.
I agreed with a lot of what you said about this album being too happy.. i just love sad songs and angst too much lol but i think it reflexes where they are in life. I wholeheartedly disagree when it comes to Not Fine tho! It is my favourite song on this album! I don’t think it’s particularly happy… there are sad undertones, anger and sarcasm that i absolutely LOVE!!!!!!!!
I’m glad you pointed out the mixing issue, because the mixing in Melt down really bugs me a lot the balance of instruments and vocals are off, and this has been an issue for a long time I really wish JYP got a new mixing
1:09:00 that part means "not this song tho" referring to if rock&roll would help the persona in confessing to their crush, they should give them somethng cool instead of this song that sounds down bad hence simp vibes haha yes it is sumn like an inside joke sungjin added for humor. for me it comes out of timing cos it's sort of an added, passing thought that sounds like "yada yada yada, oh but not this tho!"
I’m an I’m fine enthusiast bc I’m addicted to the minor 4. Idky they never get tiresome to me LOL. I also feel it’s rly cathartic and I love the rhythm on the “you’re gonna die and I’m gonna die” part

My favourite song on this album is shxtty game. at first it was actually a little bit unremarkable, i just thought it would be good as a bgm for an adventure comedy anime like ダンジョン飯🥰 but since i found out that its bridge is actually quite retro (like umu), i suddenly realized that it's especially, especially a good song for theater jazz or Chaston dance, even with a little bit of Broadway flavour, like Chicago. Then I started trying to dance to the song... It's now the song I've looped the most times this year. even its unresolved ending, feels so natural for another loop that I always forget to turn it off🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for reviewing DAY6 songs again. I can feel how Umu excited in this EP by her voice and her energy but may I ask you to use calmer sound when you do a podcast? For me, it is really difficult to listen hours long podcast with roller coaster vocal reaction 😢. Or it might be better to use airy voice rather than full bright voice. However, that’s just my preference.
Loved watching you two talking about the whole album and each songs. I really enjoyed the explanations and your opinions. It made me notice those things you mentioned too. I wonder if your top 3 songs will change after you listen to the songs on their concert because mine kinda changed. Hearing Monster live was life changing and Help Me Rock&Roll live performance was much more fun than listening the audio, I mean the song is already so fun but my excitement definitely was ON TOP. I think 'I'm fine' is kinda bad bye song, i listened to it right after 'sad ending' and 'I'm fine' seems like the opposite perspective of 'sad ending' and trying to push away the other

That's so funny! 😂 Because I used to watch their shorts a lot with the recording process and also be fascinated with their creativity and teamwork! ^^
I really love Still Here, is my top song from this album. Is such an emotional song and their voices you can feel their raw emotion! Since they start at a low tone than the rest of the song it gives you goosebumps😩🩵
