Felt every word especially the judgment people place when you’re not seemingly happy or expressive of the hard day or moments you’re experiencing on social media. Like we are human! Some people are not wired to be flawless and happy 24/7 with everything they post. Your journey is incredibly inspiring sis ❤️

Replacing social media with hobbies will completely turn your life around. After I deleted social media, I started reading more physical books. I feel more relaxed my mind is getting sharper because of it. Most people on these sites dont care about the next man when things get rotten in the real world.

“If you see me, you see me, if you don’t, you don’t” This right here I love about being off social media, I no longer feel the preasure to perform for an audience and if I just happen to meet an acquaintance on the street then great, but it’s not like they can go stalk me or I them, it’s such a freeing feeling.

Social media also causes you to not move on from people. Personally I like to "lurk" on people's pages, and sometimes curiosity would cause me to be nosy. Therefore upset/triggering me whenever I'd see an ex with someone else.

Social media is a pool of self absorbed individuals, that was me. I’m sure that was you. It’s more damaging than people think, and the worst thing that could have happened to society. You’re telling the truth Sis. That’s why I’ve been off Facebook for 2 years and snap chat for two months. Social media has us too invested in other people’s lives. We meet people, but not everyone is meant to stay or be a part of our lives. As time goes on people change, and everyone we went to school with doesn’t need to know what we’re up to now. I walked away in 2021 to breathe. I noticed that the moment that I wasn't present there, I was present in my life. I had bad anxiety about being single, about accomplishing my goals, about being out and about in the latest...and when I removed myself from everything that was going on, I felt...relieved. it's still up when I feel the need to go back, but I hardly do because I'm privately having the time of my life. And it's no one's business right now what's going on or what I'm doing. It feels good being anonymous.

I just felt like nobody cared about me, nobody like my stuff and started to feel jealous or sad seeing my friends have fun, i felt like my life was so boring compared to everyone else.. when in reality my life is fine. I am happy were i am in life i just comparing myself to everyone else… and it was making me depressed.. it got dark. Hours on tik tok scrolling my life away, not living in the present. Thankfully i deleted the app of my phone and fell so much better about everything.. But now the sad part is seeing that my “friendship” was never real..

Thank you for your insight! The only downside of not having any social media is that you are left behind in irl conversation about what people post online; this celeb did that, this influencer bought that- blah blah blah. But that cannot compare to the peace of mind I feel. I also don't consider TH-cam a social media since it gives me *the authority to what I consume.* I'm tired of seeing an empty argument on this point.

Thank you for sharing this really spoke to me deeply. I’ve been depressed for over a year now and recently have started to see how it’s affecting me. I put my goals aside, but when it comes to social media I drop everything I’m doing just to see who’s posting or if xyz shared a story, etc. I would often compare my life to those on media and would feel like crap because my life didn’t look like theirs. As I deleted Instagram and Snapchat I got recommended this video specifically. I think the timing was meant to be, because I refuse to let another day go by without living it with purpose, with authenticity that resonates with me. You’re right, live an intentional life. Who cares if you don’t post, your life is not inside social media, it is outside social media, but most certainly don’t get them mixed up. Thank you once again for your video it really is nice to see I’m not going through this alone. Thank you

You said a whole lot of truth in this video. At times I take a hiatus from social media because at times I begin to compare or feel like I should be doing more with my life. I'm now going to commit to only posting for my business and then logging off. It can become draining at times. I also felt every word you said about posting your man and receiving the goals feedback. This. I miss me. The me that didn’t get on social media until my 12th grade year of high school (2008-2009), didn’t get my first cell phone until I was 17. I was just living my life, didn’t care to do what everyone else was doing and was my own person. Social media literally makes me depressed subconsciously and wouldn’t know until I find myself lashing out or feeling low. That’s not me. Even going onto the man in my life page getting in my feelings if he’s online but haven’t responded as if he’s not human and need time to himself too down to seeing people having what I desire and feeling like a failure. I hate what social media does to me and how it changed me but definitely ensuring I fight to get back to myself. I tried to keep it for my art and to be more “social” but truly I’d rather have my peace & happiness. Slowly backing away from being on my phone so much too.

You made some brilliant points. Glad you understand and enjoy ‘social space’ now. Truth is no one gives a f*** about your SM posts and you’re way more interesting without an Insta not with one. Well, when it’s being used poorly like all the reasons you mentioned. If it’s literally used to connect & thrive with like minded people in specific groups that benefit your being then fine. But needy posts of what your eating in a restaurant & lifestyle shit is just embarrassing now, it’s old, and it’s like having a mental health issue engaging in the crap. I’m one year free of it all this week.

I bet you people can’t even write all the memories they had before social media existed on a piece of paper. Which tells you everything that they are not living in the moment. I can think of all the great memories from my life that had nothing to do with social media and I feel great about it. Never made one memory on social media cause it was that depressing

I like Instagram, but i do take breaks on there. Also, I don’t overshare either. I’ve been dating for some time and I don’t show photos of my boyfriend like that. If someone wants to know how we’re doing they would have to literally ask me when they see me in PERSON or through a text, phone call. They’re not getting “updates” on my page whatsoever about my relationship..I learned this the hard way when I was in my 20’s now in my 30’s. But, taking breaks is nice tho because I’m focused on what I’m doing in the moment and I’m not worried about other people

Hi Porcia! Loved this video. I agree that TH-cam is such a wonderful place to spend time elevating yourself. You also mentioned being intentional, which I think is so important in all aspects of our lives. It’s harder to be intentional when our minds are cluttered up with what we think everyone else would approve of, or what someone else would do or like. It’s even weirder when we see other people trying to take on and start to do what we are doing in our daily lives! It can definitely breed unhealthy amounts of jealousy in that way. We can really start to know and connect with ourselves when we aren’t paying attention to others, or worrying what they think about us.
