  • Clearsound Baffles are a transparent, lightweight acoustic treatment system for use in live music applications to control and improve sound.
Praised by both musicians and audio engineers alike.
Clearsound Baffles reduce bleed from instruments into other nearby microphones on stage and naturally dampen the delicate high-end frequencies necessary to help vocalists cut through a live mix. Unlike other acoustic treatment options, each Clearsound baffle is lightweight and can be quickly and easily mounted on a cymbal stand, then positioned wherever treatment is necessary.

This does not lower the volume in a room. This is useful to tame cymbal volume and harshness = a more balanced sound from the OH microphones. If you place those microphones 20 feet away from the drums, you will barely notice any difference, because at that distance the sound is 90% reflections and very little comes straight from the source (and that's the only thing that gets a little tamed when close. You could easily get the same results with any material, but would not be see-through.

This is absolutely correct. If the issue is overall volume from the drums, different remedies are more valuable (acoustic treatment, drum treatment, drummer treatment). But if cymbal bleed is the primary issue (as it is for most people), this is where Clearsound Baffles truly shine.

Nice I think this might do the trick for our church drummer instead of getting the traditional drum sheild

Do you recommend double braced stands? Or can you use flat based stands?

    • @clearsoundbaffles7302

Ryan Donohue Each baffle is about 2 lbs, so even the lightest duty cymbal stand will work. Boom stands offer much more flexibility in positioning. Also, check out our “Plug” Mic Stand Adapter, which allows you to use mic stands you may already have. A set of 4 costs less than a single boom stand!

I've found that coating the bottom of my drummer's cymbals with gaffer tape while he's at the bar works better and is much cheaper.

Clear sound baffles I'm a drummer at my church my church is a pretty decent size Church not too big not too small kind of in the middle right now I have a plexiglass cage box over my drums and the roof on top of it the plexiglass cage chokes the life out of my drums and I have some of the best microphones I have higher end Sennheiser mic on the drums a beta 91 in the kick beta 52 outside the kick and sm57s on my snares and some decent overhead mics but the drum cage sucks the life out of my drums I noticed that when I take the roof off of the drum cage the drums sound better and more defined but way too loud and I want to purchase some clear sound baffles and get rid of the drum cage but I'm kind of scared because I don't know if the clear sound baffles will only stop the mic bleed but not balance out the sound or it's not too loud and piercing for the audience I have to figure something out though. Because that from cage is ruining the sound of my drums it would be nice if I could at least try to clear sound baffles out before I purchase a set of four for the church particularly the big 30 inch baffles the big boys those are the ones I want to try

This is a common concern with many churches we work with. Our baffles will most certainly help your drums breath and sound natural, but the fact of the matter is that if the reason there's a cage around your drums is because of sheer volume, the solution will likely come from treatment of the drums or the acoustics in the room. For example, Big Fat Snare Drum quesadillas are a great way to reduce volume in your drums while still maintaining a great tone. From there, baffles can help with your cymbal volume, and then there's a chance you might be in good shape!

@@clearsoundbaffles7302 I’m about to meet a friend who plays at a church campus that uses those and maybe I’ll get a little more insight. I play in a 2000+/- sqft church with an electric set because the acoustic set is nasty loud even when playing moderately. Paiste Signature Cymbals is what I have but can’t use and just looking to see the best option for sound. Thanks for the response btw
