    Before too long, the entirety of North American lithic history will be available on your channel lol. Awesomely informative and excellent traditional flintknapping skills. You’re the best my man!

      I wish! There’s so much to cover and so little time to make it all. Thank you so much!

    I wasn't expecting those markings to come out of that core! Great work! Great information! Wonderful video over all!

    I think this is one of your best videos yet! I love all the "Technical talk" and archeological explanations you gave to better understand how these people theoretically got to where they did and did what they did.

    Beautiful point. Enjoyed the narrative very much. Thanks for putting together a great video.

    I was glad to run across the video. I think that you and I traded points several years ago in a Paleoplanet PITH trade.

    Have you done a cactus hill pre Clovis type point?

    • @pathwaysofthepast
      @pathwaysofthepast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t, although Cactus Hill probably isn’t actually a pre Clovis sites

      @@pathwaysofthepast interesting. The radio carbon dating seems to refute that claim at 15,000+ bce.

    One (another?) way they were made is from a "blade" being shaped to a point - Parman style. Dr Davis himself shows some details of that here:

    Wonderfully done as always Silas!

      @pathwaysofthepast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah except for the three larger points which were made from bifacial preforms, the others were made from long, narrow flakes. I’m not sure if they were made from “formal” blades or blade-like flakes. But yeah they liked to do minimal retouch like Davis said

      @@pathwaysofthepast I keep trying to find the right person to get a 3d model of these, or some casts, and just haven't found them yet... Hopefully someday. I would love to get a closer look. Western Stem Tradition was fond of blades in their toolkit, so I'm probably projecting a touch.

      I'll check with Dr. Davis but I believe that the scans we used in a couple of the papers that came out recently on Cooper's Ferry might have been released to the public. Shoot me a DM and I'll get back to you on it.

      @@chucklearnslithics3751 Good luck -- I emailed Loren Davis several years ago looking for a 3d model after reading that he has scanned them. No dice so far.
