i remember when this movie came out in august 2017 (near my birthday on september 2nd). i went to la with my mom and my aunt for my birthday. when we were eating my birthday lunch, i was talking about this new movie that recently came to theaters (leap). so my mom asked me if i wanted to go see that movie that night, but for some reason, i said no thank u instead of yes please. and i didn’t watch this movie until now on netflix and this movie was the BEST animation movie i’ve seen yet. and it would’ve made my 11th birthday amazing if i chose to see this movie instead of going to cheesecake factory instead 😭
Maddie was the Camille (like literary) of dance moms - She was portrayed as the most talented, perfect and best dancer of the show. But she was the bratty kid who was good at dancing, but was always given all the privileges and favouritism. She danced not because she wanted to, but because her mother and dance teacher wanted her to dance Chloe was the Felicie of dance moms - She had god given talent in dancing. She was the best dancer, but was never treated like one. She was always put in Camille's shadow and was never given the same opportunities or privileges Camille recipients. Yet her mother always believed in her. She may not be the most popular dance moms girl, but she is the most loved person of that show.
She is being forced by her mum and since she knows she cannot beat Felicia, she decided to tell the truth, thank god her mother wasnt there, I'd say her mom is the villain of the movie
The relationship between these two girls makes me think of Amity and Luz's relationship bro; literally, top student hating on the lower ranking student, then eventually respecting them and their skills, then finally befriending them. Plus the whole "my mother makes me dance" makes me think of how Amity's mother makes her be snooty towards others (at least at first)
I prefer this version of the dub. The one I saw in the theater last month had a bunch of dialog added at scenes where there shouldn't be. Like here that the part where the girls hug, they have Felicie saying she hopes the two can be friends. Sure it's cute but not needed.

I beg to differ. Felicie saying "I hope we can be friends" is a grand addition. More than cute, it opens, I feel, a chance for things to get better for both of them. We see that a little later when Camille tries to stop her mother, and gets Victor to save Felicie.
Realistically felicey wouldn't have had the time to get ready to dance the nutcracker on opening night if she hadn't practiced as camille's understudy, but it's so moving that I don't really care that much.
I love that Felicie and Camille have become friends to each other, after Camille said great job to Felicie, I wish she would also say her name, and apologize for breaking her music, like "Great Job, Felicie, and sorry I broke your music box"

Aye. Same here. There also remains the possiblity that the mother actually abused Camille. Here's what I mean by that. If you recall earlier in the movie, it showed a scene where the mother was overseeing Camille training & exercising. Camille was saying she was tired & needed a break, & the mother simply said tired is for either quitters, cowards, or losers, & made her exercise even harder
I have a theory of her mother Felice is a ginger right? Her mom was one, and Felice had green eyes which is rarer or not as common. The guard from the orphanage has green eyes as well (I haven’t seen the full movie in 3 months so bare with me if I’m wrong) I think the guard is her father and remember he always ran after Felice when she tried running away. But at the end he was the one that brought her back to the place where she danced. Plus they do look rather similar. As well Felice is taller then Victor probably getting the traits from tall parents that she had . The guard also mentioned that no one ever told him he can make it into the big city and that’s why he stayed in the country. I believe her mother was a dancer at the opera but died in the fire that Odette got her limp in. During the time of the fire Felice was a baby, and her father took care of her (perhaps in the country). I also think that Odette and Felice’s Mom were sisters or very close friends. I have a feeling that when Odette met Felice she felt that same connection she had with her mother. What do you think?
