You and the rest of the Four Pillars really opened my eyes to what a really good game was in a time where I thought that Rogue was good and AC1 was bad, and even though Rogue will still have a special place for me being the second AC I played, thank you for putting out content.
I sat down to play Rogue remastered, because I said "this is the only assassin's creed game I have never played, lets get it over with." And then I realized I had played the entire game years ago on release and forgot it in it's entirety.

@@alexanderl9721 I agree, that's why I commented it. It was baffling to me that this game was so non-memorable to me that I literally forgot playing it. It probably has to do with the fact that the visuals are so close to Black Flag and III that my brain somehow merged the two. Like, that entire scene with the Ghost Ship in ACIII somehow just sucked in my entire experience of Rogue.
@@HereticASSassin Even though I'm biased over it because it's my first Ps3 game/AC game, as I grow older I do realize how dumber Connor is.. I was 13 when I first played it and all my thought process was Haytham was always lying to get in Connor's head. AC3 is still my top favorite game but story wise it's bad while I don't like Origins for it's gameplay but I like it's story. AC3 is still a game with Assassin gameplay which I think that's what people forget to mention and you don't need a crouch be to an Assassin.(my opinion).

Four is my favorite because I played it first, and I loved all the elements that were involved in it, and it really got me hooked on the series, but the Ezio Trilogy is a very close second. I love how those games were done, and I honestly miss them. Don't get me wrong, I liked elements of the newer ones, but those four really stand out because I loved how they played and how they worked.
Assassins creed settings work best in the middle-ages or renaissance. Not too far back in history and not so near to the present day, just right in the middle, I guess you can call it the "goldilocks zone".
This is one of the best criticism I've ever seen on ac games. Now I completely disagree with him but has valid reasons as to why he doesn't like these games unless other people who just nitpick and complain.

Now if only the next game can pick up from where they were trying to go with Unity...I have little hope, but wanna see the franchise go back to its roots. Or at least make it so you can play stealth or button masher but make them feel like balanced skill trees so players can truly choose their preferred style.

I would probably only go back to black flag for the ship segments & pirate aspects of the game. I'm sure almost everyone goes back to that game for the same reason. I love black flag mainly because of the pirate aspects (70%) & only a bit for the story (30%). It's more like Valhalla where you're mostly a viking & a bit of an assassin. In Black flag, you're more of a pirate than you are an assassin. It's the best pirate game out there, but in terms of it's name "Assassin's Creed," I don't really think it gives the franchise justice. I say this because almost everyone I see who praises the game only talks about the ship & pirate aspects of the game, I hardly ever come across comments praising the story or talking more about the creed.
I respfully disagree with him putting origns kinda low the story was one of the best ones, the writing was amazing and the characters were amazing I liked the music, dlcs, graphics
Unity was the cyberpunk before cyberpunk, Assassin’s Creed used to be so unique and was an icon even games like Ghost of Tsushima a far better game then quite of few of the most recent AC titles combined but it’s still compared and even touted as the AC Ubisoft should have made not a lot of games have that much weight and now they’re trying to make Assassin’s Creed into fantasy RPG but it’s just a poor mans Witcher/Skyrim, and the thing is it never needed it, what a majority of fans wanted is a well written character and a game that’s not totally falling apart, no need for RPG elements, superpowers, and magic
I’m on the same page as you Tyler, I’m done with Assassin’s Creed. I was really hoping Valhalla would be the one to reignite my love for the franchise, especially with Darby and Montreal working on the game. But unfortunately, it had the exact opposite effect. Regardless, this franchise isn’t for me anymore, and that’s fine.
It just proved that the Montreal team and Darby, for how much love and care they put into the AC lore and brand, have no real power over the decision makers at Ubisoft who just want epic fantasy RPG MTX games
Me too. I’m so fucking done with this franchise I really think so and that’s alright because I can go and enjoy the AC games I love and am passionate about which are the first 6 games and Origins and I genuinely think this is the end for me going forward and it really is for the best. 👍
I had some hope with Darby, but I didn't have much hope for Montreal personally, notably Ashraf. I often find myself not understanding why people like Origins, as to me, it was the game that kickstarted the trend that the games have been on. It may be the better of the 3, but to me it was the one that started changing things too far. Ditching Social Stealth, the rpg system, etc. plus a weird origin story for the Brotherhood. It didn't help that I..mainly liked Black Flag's story. It is, to me, a pirate fantasy simulator, honestly. So much focus was put on the ships and being a pirate, and it kind of showed where Ashraf and them stood on a number of AC mechanics. Social stealth? Not really needed. Typically missions for assassins? Tailing. Progression through being a pirate is much more emphasized. The story is good, kudos to Darby. The gameplay..i'm sorry, AC3 did much better on the gameplay for me. And even the story felt more about being an Assassin.

I didn’t appreciate the first one when I was younger but now I really do. When I was young I felt the gameplay was repetitive, I still feel that way but because I realized the characters and story were so good that The gameplay isn’t as big as a problem in my opinion.
@@PoeticWeasel I get why he did it. Despite all the lore and important modern day story elements that wrap up previous arcs, for the most part they feel like easter eggs. The game oddly includes those things, but also doesn't care about them at all in the historical story. It feels very obviously like "throwing a bone" to the old school fans, while the game really just wants to be a viking rpg. The other games, excluding Odyssey, may not be great or advance the modern day story but they're closer to the heart of what old AC was.
Syndicate would've been loads better if they cut the humor, and made Maxwell Roth the main villain with some tweaks. His overall chaotic nature could've served as a great example of a "corruption of the Creed" sort of character, and showcased the darker potential of the Assassin philosophy in a way that Rogue never even tried to do.
I disagree with him on syndicate as well the story to me was amazing, the writing was very good I enjoyed the characters and the liberation aspect was pretty cool the gameplay was satisfying
Damm there are still people disliking unity in 2021.... So underrated... Gameplay is probably one of the best in the serie, with the best stealth and combat moves+parkour. Paris is gorgeous and more than 95% of the initial bugs have been fixed now. Plus the story is great, with french revolution in the background. My fav one with ac 2 and origin
For me the biggest flaw of Brotherhood is how rushed the game felt at the end. When Ezio got the Apple the game felt like the pacing were all over the place with the time jumps. It felt like a memory sequence was summarized in just one memory and with presumably cut content like the death of Ezio's mother I suspect it was to restrictions to development window of the game. For that reason for me AC2 and ACR still top ACB even though they both have objectively worse side content.

Why does People keep saying that Kassandra is a good charecter? She's really not. I think that odyssey had a lot going for it, but totally blew it. The combat is the worst, buttom mashing hell ever. The story is just bad. Oh yeah, also its a really stupid game. What i mean by that, is civilians will attack you while i combat with guards or something like that. Odyssey is the first game that ive bought that i truly hate. And, is it just me, or do the NPC's you can talk to all look the same? I have played AC II, AC Brotherhood, AC Revelations, AC Origins, AC III, AC Black Flag( still playing it), AC Valhalla(still playing it), AC Unity(still playing it) , AC Odyssey(still playing it); and so far my favorite AC comes down to Origins, Revelations, Unity, and Odyssey. Valhalla feels kinda boring it doesn’t intrigue me and also I feel overwhelmed with what the games asks to be achieved.
In 2, Ezio had a great speech after killing Savonarolo, making it seem he grew wiser as the years passed by. Next he goes to stop Rodrigo and he LITERALLY SAYS: I thought... I thought I was beyond this. But I'm not. I've waited too long... lost too much... Requiescat in pace, you bastard. Afterwards, he again manages to gain the upper hand, but now changes and decides not to kill Rodrigo. What was up with the inclussion of that line in the overall story?! Also, the game nowadays resembles the structure of The Last of Us 2; the protagonist driven by revenge, yet changes the mind right when it comes to killing the biggest treat. As much as I loved the game and still do, this impression formed in the recent times
i wish AC2 and Brotherhood would get a remastered graphical upgrade. those 2 are pretty much perfect but would be great to see them on the new engines graphics and physics. if i would have to rate the games its goes: Brotherhood > AC2 > AC1 > AC 4 > Revelations > Rogue > Origins > Syndicate > Odyssey > AC3 > Unity. i havent played Valhalla yet, still waiting for it to come to Steam and then buy it on Steam sale "if that is ever gonna happen" also the current state of Valhalla is also keeping me away. also Ezio was my all time fave character and Desmond was my 2nd fave character and i hate Ubishit for killing him at AC3 and when it comes to Revelations, i did love the story but the game mechanics and side missions started to annoy me, my all time fave part was the Puzzles for the best armour but it kind of felt wasted when u finally get it after u have all rdy finished the main story and made it pointless. if there where a new game + option so u can play the game trough with the armour i would loved it

The only thing I think I really disagree with is putting AC3 below Rogue and Syndicate. Honestly, in many ways for me, Syndicate is worse than Odyssey. At least in Odyssey there’s a bit more time where it’s trying to take itself seriously vs. Syndicate is just one big parodied joke. Idk. And Rogue? A quick cash-grab with little to no thought put into it where at least, like you said, there are true AC elements and philosophical discussions in 3. I’d have definitely put it in 8th, Rogue in 9th, and then the last three are just awful.

Origins is a decent game but I don't see it as an AC Game, its part of the RPG games. Bayek was great, Egypt was beautiful but the map was 70% Desert replacing the Dense Urban Cities. There was no focus on Parkour, Social Stealth and not enough on creating the Assassins Order. Origins could of been a better game if it were not AC, they should of made a new franchise because they clearly have not cared about Assassins Creed for many years now. As for the Narrative: Pacing was dreadful, worst part about it. Yet Bayek had a good personal revenge story, best part about it.

for me origins is not that good and ac 3 is not really that bad like i agree with james latest opinion on ac 3. And of course valhalla is shit but the game does have some bits that I can accept in the lore until you're playing modern day as a kind of a sage of loki who was also in the ancestor story. (also having assassins and templars would have been nice)
I don't consider Odyssey an AC game but atleast it was fun to play. Can't play any AC games before 3, I just can't with the controls. Valhalla is the only AC game I dropped and have no intentions to play again. It was repetitive AF to me

I respfully disagree with him putting origns kinda low the story was one of the best ones, the writing was amazing and the characters were amazing I liked the music, dlcs, graphics
and the setting of ac origins. the nile, the pyramids, the desert! :)
Unity was the cyberpunk before cyberpunk, Assassin’s Creed used to be so unique and was an icon even games like Ghost of Tsushima a far better game then quite of few of the most recent AC titles combined but it’s still compared and even touted as the AC Ubisoft should have made not a lot of games have that much weight and now they’re trying to make Assassin’s Creed into fantasy RPG but it’s just a poor mans Witcher/Skyrim, and the thing is it never needed it, what a majority of fans wanted is a well written character and a game that’s not totally falling apart, no need for RPG elements, superpowers, and magic

I’m on the same page as you Tyler, I’m done with Assassin’s Creed. I was really hoping Valhalla would be the one to reignite my love for the franchise, especially with Darby and Montreal working on the game. But unfortunately, it had the exact opposite effect. Regardless, this franchise isn’t for me anymore, and that’s fine.
It just proved that the Montreal team and Darby, for how much love and care they put into the AC lore and brand, have no real power over the decision makers at Ubisoft who just want epic fantasy RPG MTX games
Me too. I’m so fucking done with this franchise I really think so and that’s alright because I can go and enjoy the AC games I love and am passionate about which are the first 6 games and Origins and I genuinely think this is the end for me going forward and it really is for the best. 👍

I had some hope with Darby, but I didn't have much hope for Montreal personally, notably Ashraf. I often find myself not understanding why people like Origins, as to me, it was the game that kickstarted the trend that the games have been on. It may be the better of the 3, but to me it was the one that started changing things too far. Ditching Social Stealth, the rpg system, etc. plus a weird origin story for the Brotherhood.
It didn't help that I..mainly liked Black Flag's story. It is, to me, a pirate fantasy simulator, honestly. So much focus was put on the ships and being a pirate, and it kind of showed where Ashraf and them stood on a number of AC mechanics. Social stealth? Not really needed. Typically missions for assassins? Tailing. Progression through being a pirate is much more emphasized. The story is good, kudos to Darby. The gameplay..i'm sorry, AC3 did much better on the gameplay for me. And even the story felt more about being an Assassin.

I didn’t appreciate the first one when I was younger but now I really do. When I was young I felt the gameplay was repetitive, I still feel that way but because I realized the characters and story were so good that The gameplay isn’t as big as a problem in my opinion.
I would put ac valhalla on no 6 ,but overall I agree with the list.
Ironically enough, Valhalla has more important story and lore for the AC universe than Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, and Odyssey combined.

@@PoeticWeasel I get why he did it. Despite all the lore and important modern day story elements that wrap up previous arcs, for the most part they feel like easter eggs. The game oddly includes those things, but also doesn't care about them at all in the historical story. It feels very obviously like "throwing a bone" to the old school fans, while the game really just wants to be a viking rpg. The other games, excluding Odyssey, may not be great or advance the modern day story but they're closer to the heart of what old AC was.
Syndicate would've been loads better if they cut the humor, and made Maxwell Roth the main villain with some tweaks. His overall chaotic nature could've served as a great example of a "corruption of the Creed" sort of character, and showcased the darker potential of the Assassin philosophy in a way that Rogue never even tried to do.

Damm there are still people disliking unity in 2021.... So underrated... Gameplay is probably one of the best in the serie, with the best stealth and combat moves+parkour. Paris is gorgeous and more than 95% of the initial bugs have been fixed now. Plus the story is great, with french revolution in the background. My fav one with ac 2 and origin
For me the biggest flaw of Brotherhood is how rushed the game felt at the end.
When Ezio got the Apple the game felt like the pacing were all over the place with the time jumps. It felt like a memory sequence was summarized in just one memory and with presumably cut content like the death of Ezio's mother I suspect it was to restrictions to development window of the game.
For that reason for me AC2 and ACR still top ACB even though they both have objectively worse side content.

Why does People keep saying that Kassandra is a good charecter? She's really not. I think that odyssey had a lot going for it, but totally blew it. The combat is the worst, buttom mashing hell ever. The story is just bad. Oh yeah, also its a really stupid game. What i mean by that, is civilians will attack you while i combat with guards or something like that. Odyssey is the first game that ive bought that i truly hate. And, is it just me, or do the NPC's you can talk to all look the same?

I have played AC II, AC Brotherhood, AC Revelations, AC Origins, AC III, AC Black Flag( still playing it), AC Valhalla(still playing it), AC Unity(still playing it) , AC Odyssey(still playing it); and so far my favorite AC comes down to Origins, Revelations, Unity, and Odyssey. Valhalla feels kinda boring it doesn’t intrigue me and also I feel overwhelmed with what the games asks to be achieved.
Black Flag Above AC1 makes me sad.
Ac1 is special and shouldn't have to be ranked at all.
They're both great but for different reasons
In 2, Ezio had a great speech after killing Savonarolo, making it seem he grew wiser as the years passed by. Next he goes to stop Rodrigo and he LITERALLY SAYS: I thought... I thought I was beyond this. But I'm not. I've waited too long... lost too much... Requiescat in pace, you bastard.
Afterwards, he again manages to gain the upper hand, but now changes and decides not to kill Rodrigo. What was up with the inclussion of that line in the overall story?!
Also, the game nowadays resembles the structure of The Last of Us 2; the protagonist driven by revenge, yet changes the mind right when it comes to killing the biggest treat.

i wish AC2 and Brotherhood would get a remastered graphical upgrade. those 2 are pretty much perfect but would be great to see them on the new engines graphics and physics. if i would have to rate the games its goes: Brotherhood > AC2 > AC1 > AC 4 > Revelations > Rogue > Origins > Syndicate > Odyssey > AC3 > Unity. i havent played Valhalla yet, still waiting for it to come to Steam and then buy it on Steam sale "if that is ever gonna happen" also the current state of Valhalla is also keeping me away.
also Ezio was my all time fave character and Desmond was my 2nd fave character and i hate Ubishit for killing him at AC3
and when it comes to Revelations, i did love the story but the game mechanics and side missions started to annoy me, my all time fave part was the Puzzles for the best armour but it kind of felt wasted when u finally get it after u have all rdy finished the main story and made it pointless. if there where a new game + option so u can play the game trough with the armour i would loved it

The only thing I think I really disagree with is putting AC3 below Rogue and Syndicate. Honestly, in many ways for me, Syndicate is worse than Odyssey. At least in Odyssey there’s a bit more time where it’s trying to take itself seriously vs. Syndicate is just one big parodied joke. Idk. And Rogue? A quick cash-grab with little to no thought put into it where at least, like you said, there are true AC elements and philosophical discussions in 3. I’d have definitely put it in 8th, Rogue in 9th, and then the last three are just awful.

I agree with most of the list and there reasonings but AC syndicate was surprisingly high up there and I originally had Valhalla just after origins but the post launch of this game made me drop to third worst IMO syndicate second worst and odyssey obviously the worst
Valhalla left me with such mixed feelings that I have to rate it worse than AC3..with odyssey, I knew from the get go that it was garbage. Which is why it's not even good enough to be on my list
Unity is not better than ac3 at all and neither is syndicate actually I think ac3 should have been after ac4

Origins is a decent game but I don't see it as an AC Game, its part of the RPG games. Bayek was great, Egypt was beautiful but the map was 70% Desert replacing the Dense Urban Cities.
There was no focus on Parkour, Social Stealth and not enough on creating the Assassins Order. Origins could of been a better game if it were not AC, they should of made a new franchise because they clearly have not cared about Assassins Creed for many years now.
As for the Narrative:
Pacing was dreadful, worst part about it.
Yet Bayek had a good personal revenge story, best part about it.

And of course valhalla is shit but the game does have some bits that I can accept in the lore until you're playing modern day as a kind of a sage of loki who was also in the ancestor story.

I don't consider Odyssey an AC game but atleast it was fun to play. Can't play any AC games before 3, I just can't with the controls. Valhalla is the only AC game I dropped and have no intentions to play again. It was repetitive AF to me
