I was a trainee barman at the Skylon hotel, Drumcondra in the 70's and Peggy Dell was a regular customer on a Saturday night. She was a lovely lady as I remember!

My dad, and Peggy and their band of comedians, singers and dancers kept the Theatrical world alive in Ireland from the '30s to the 70s, through the 2nd World War, when overseas and British talent couldn't travel. They had to be multi-talented. Dad was 6' 4" (nearly 2 M tall,) but would put on drag and dance on stage, on roller skates!
@@patrickambrose5372 I was the closest to becoming an actor, but, with Dad as the benchmark for talent, , I didn't have a chance! I did do school plays and when I came to Australia I did commercials here and a few bit parts, but never a career. My 3 brothers were all behind the camera. My late brother Vic was a film cameraman on Documentaries and films (Braveheart was his biggest). My Late brother Mike and brother Glynn were Assistant Directors in film and TV. They both were many years on 'The Bill'

Peggy was active until the late '60s at the Metropole Ballroom and also taught piano. This appearance in 1973 rekindled demand for her. Wonderful.

I remember my parents listening to and enjoying Peggy Dell and Noel Purcell back in the 1960s and 1970s.

Noel's beloved wife, Eileen, passed away on August 19th 2018 in Dublin in her 101st year.
Many thanks, Gary for mentioning Mum. Not many people know she was a huge child star ("Little Eileeen Marmion" before Noel became well known.
