Seems he read only some chapters form these history books of his... Also - he's not building any *roads, FFS!* And that's the *REAL legacy of the Roman Empire!*
Not only that but Caesar is just about as delusional as it gets. He bases his nation on the Roman Empire but not at its height, but rather its downfall. Overexpansion when there simply isn't enough manpower to hold all of Legion territory and NCR territory if they manage to conquer it. The assimilated tribes that form the backbone of his forces still remember their origins, he hasn't wiped out their memories of their culture or homes because it hasn't been that long. He runs a dictatorship where his contingency plan if he dies is putting Lanius, a fucking barbarian in charge of complex tasks like supply chains and strategy. The final nail in the coffin is that Caesar's motivation is rooted in Hegelian Dialectics; that conflict between opposing nations is inevitable and through conflict, a greater nation is born from the two. Except he never seemed to realize that Hegelian Dialectics is a THEORY, not a law of nature.
@@everythingsalright1121 also his legion is not at all like Rome. While the legion just expands his territory, the old Rome absorbs the knowledge of those people who gets conquered (so Rome would use tecnology much more than the legion) and also it would be a fucking repubblic, not the "empire" that caesar worships as a good thing (look what happens if caesar dies in NW) and the corruption thing is something that even in an empire can happen. I'm not even sure if a modern rome would still use slaves, but considering that they would be seen as slavers and also hated for this i kinda feel like they wouldn't even rely on them. Being a roman should be a privilege, not a disgusting thing
It's a nice touch that basically no one is sad to see him go. I love the subtle world building, that Mr House goes through massive effort to present himself as this infallable great man whose gonna save humanity, but nothing outside his own voice and sock puppet world suggests that at all. Like how two of the three tribes he managed to wrangle into something that looked like a society are actively conspiring against him, and the third is trying to bring back cannibalism. He has no real allies, just robots. You can debate whether the NCR or Legion would win the Second Battle of Hoover Dam without the courier's intervention, but the game effectively starts with House having already lost. The guy he's groomed as his right hand man has already sabotaged his plans and is gearing up to kill him. He lucks out with a second chance, being forced to trust a fucking mailman he's never met with the product of 200 years of scheming. Also how killing Mr House is almost an afterthought for the NCR and Legion, you just get it out the way as step 1 and then get onto the real buisness of defeating the other side. They don't even think twice they just ask the first guy they heard got into the Lucky 38 to remove him from the equation. From a narrative POV you could kind of see Mr House being canonized as the true ending - it's the 'neutral' ending, and he represents Vegas rather than something from outside (Geographically and also from another Fallout game in regards the NCR), but we're given almost no indication he could possibly win or has any kind of future outside his fantasies. Even militarily he'll admit the NCR and Legion have him beat, and he needs to play them against each other to have any kind of chance. IMO if there ever was a canon ending that follows what we're told I think it's a narrow Legion victory where the NCR is pushed back to the Mojave Outpost but ultimately survives and wins the war. The NCR is finally forced to look inward, goes through unrest and famine and reforms into something sustainable. Ceaser succeeds in that sense but the Legion collapses as a glorified raider band, having finally been the thing to 'check' the bloat of the NCR. Mr House dies in the crossfire as a footnote and weird pre war relic. An old world spirit laid to rest.
Honestly kind of strange how people defend him by saying he has a master plan to explore space travel yet we're no given no evidence whatsoever other than his own word
@@thatguyfromouterspace5753 I mean, They're ancaps, they're gullible as shit. Anybody who trusts the future to some "smart" investor capitalist deserve nothing but bad subways full of burning cars and mockery.
Seems like a big Legion/NCR cope. NCR will crumble due to the war and internal corruption but not before the Legion breaks when it tries to push into their territory under Lanius, or stagnates and eats itself should it stop marching. NCR morale in the gutter, Legion on the edge of destroying itself due to it's nature since it's inception, etc. Little hope out East, House's entire plan kinda hinged on you to begin with by the looks. He needed an agent since the start be it you or any other loyal and competent merc. (It's also morally wrong to kill him according to the game itself so there is that)
However, he is a character with "good karma". Well, if you think about it, you are not killing a dictator but taking everything from someone including his life for you or other faction
I just think it's cool to see all these different reactions compiled like that. Not sure any of the 4 endings are really good long-term, but killing House still felt bad to me because he was a defenseless old man. Too bad there's no other way to take control of the system.
Out of all the endings, the best one for Nevada/the mojave was the one where Mr. House won. The NCR was too incompetent, corrupt, spread thin, and apathetic to help the people of the mojave.

I would have personally ended the video on the Ulysses quote. Only fitting for the final dlc's main player to give the last word on the matter. My views however are mine, and I cannot dictate yours. All I can do is offer my opinion on what I believe would fit best.
3:30 Ulysses is so right in this. The Old World can no longer be brought back to what it was. And even if a semblance of it does come back, the same mistakes that caused the Great War and the Resource Wars will kick in again. Moira in Fallout 3 even said that "Even if you reassemble a broken glass, it will never be the same again. But you can use those broken shards to build something else entirely."
Almost everyone are happy with House gone except for Ulysses that kinda saw him as the one one that might bring the old world back. Personally I don't really mind most of House's policies except for his headstrong determination to wipe out the BOS. House saw himself as an autocrat or dictator but he did justify himself that he is a better version since he cannot be corrupted and being almost a machine himself he can make rational and calculated decisions. The courier by his side will represent his heart and take care of the people of NV which House is certainly lacking.
Hilarious thing about the hatred towards House is that all these people in Freeside who said that they are glad House is out of the picture will be the next victims of Fiends since NCR can't even deal with a bunch of high on jet raiders and if by some miracle Fiends won't make their move and leave Freeiside and The Strip alone who's gonna defend them against The Legion if they are still around? Or probably worse yet, The Tunnelers later down the line? Securitrons are offline, NCR is useless, Legion will make them into slaves so what's left? The Kings lmao? That is of course assuming NCR won't just mop the floor with them first.
Why the fuck would the securitrons be offline? Yes Man literally handed you the keys to the kingdom! Mark 2 Securitrons have the sauce to wall out either NCR or Legion and they aren’t even living beings! An army of destroyer machines that require little if any human supervision vs scared grunts and fascist goons. Seethe House simp.
@@noellacrossme1534 I personally think that the Securitrons would just get chipped away at by the NCR and since they aren't getting new ones every day they would just die off slowly. Securitrons are the best bet against Tunnelers due to them having lights on them and so on but over all I think they will not be able to hold the strip even with mr house controlling them.
@@noellacrossme1534 Remember in the independent ending that the fiends are not attacked by the securitrons if you don't killed the fiends leaders or killed them. I guess it's true what they say that even in an independent vegas they will also give freedom to raiders in those areas
@@Gamer-ry6xy the fiends attacked Mccaran, not the main body of Vegas. With NCR gone from the territory let ‘em have it for a while, the Securitrons will get around to em after the heat from Hoover Dam dies down.
The securitrons are just protecting the Strip, I think they got cut from appearing i freeside until the end of the game, they already depends on the NCR and the Kings for protecting themselves, what I don't understand is how exactly they expect that the dead of Mr. House will benefit them
Ulysses response to House's death, accusing him of trying to make things like the old world, is directly at odds with House explaining, in no uncertain terms, that he has no intention of rebuilding the old world/democratic nations. "If you want to know the fate of democracy, look out the windows." His only focus is using his technical and business expertise to build the future.
Most of Ulysses' critiques are surface level critiques of the faction he opposes and the Courier supports. They intentionally appear inadequate to invite the player to think more about what they discussed with Ulysses, to look further into what he said and how it reflects within reality. At least his critiques of the NCR and Legion have merit, but his critiques of House are essentially just that he himself has PTSD over old-world things coming to wipe out what he knows, so I guess that line reflects on his personal trauma considerably.
I said what I said that needed to be said about the man who is more Old World than me. Than that wall. Then The Divide. Than The Big Empty. Then the flag on my back, and the flag I wave. Even then, with the death of a figure of times once had, the Old World lives on, through the cruelty of the Bull, and the ignorance of the Bear. It would take another Armageddon, much bigger, much more furious in its fury and dousing the world in it's invisible fire, brighter than the Sun above, and the suns that were dropped on the world all that time ago for the Old World to no longer exist.
House literally brought the Mafia back to Vegas and trusted them not to betray him lmao. The whole New Vegas experiment is an exercise in nostalgia for the one part of the old world House liked. The wasteland doesn't really need technological progress. The tech they have is more than they can deal with honestly. The wasteland needs a real society to progress, y'know farmers, traders, teachers, doctors, engineers etc. All House has are the robot gestapo, cannibal chefs, guys in pinstripe suits, and the mafia. And I guess the guy that makes neon signs.
House may have no intention of rebuilding a democratic society, but he's still bringing his Old World thinking with him: he wants to recreate Las Vegas in the form of a corporation, with himself as the President, founder, and CEO. While his only focus may be using his knowledge to build a future, the question of how he's going to fund it and to whom he's going to sell that product hang in the air. House has grandiose schemes, but he uses people. It's telling that he has *no* living allies, just employees.
Except the old world really wasn't a democracy. It was an oligarchy led by a shadow government that ended forming the enclave. New Vegas subtext is that, through the Brahmin Baron, the NCR is slowly following that road ; and all faction choices are terrible.
@@anthonyiglesias1221 he's currently running the strip as a business. There is nothing he cares about besides profit. He talks about his general plans, but he doesn't directly say he means to eventually help Freeside, etc. If he plans to continue running the Strip as a small, rich and exclusive city state, that does little to help many people - just make House and the families richer and more powerful. All the factions in New Vegas are different shades of grey and it's down to how you interpret them. None of them are perfect, but House definitely holds the most potential.

No one likes House, and it is not hard to see why, as an employer he is great, but as a Citizen of, or a potential ally , he has much to be desired. He is a technocratic recluse, with no networking skills and no charm. He is intelligent but does not have the abilities of a great statesmen. He does not try to win your or anyone else support instead relying on contracts thinking them somehow sacred and unbreakable. Given he is in by far the worst position out of the 3 major factions that is saying a lot, because without the support of the masses, of powerful allies, and without a clear goal in mind in which to garner support, he has to rely on someone more capable. Thus it is unlikely he would be all that successful, and if he is it would not be for the benefit of Vegas or of Mankind as he thinks. There would be very little change, assuming he even gets that far without Vegas rebelling or sabotaging him, due to the myriad of problems present that Mr. House is unwilling or incapable to address. He's full of crap like that :D
He's not accepting mass-produced medication but an AutoDoc machine is ok?
No energy weapons but power-actuated lead projectors are fine? Is it about more or less cosplaying ancient Rome or is it about some actual rules?
Isn't he aware that Rome fell because it was only built for war?
C'mon man he's got brain cancer he has to be lacking somewhere

I would have personally ended the video on the Ulysses quote. Only fitting for the final dlc's main player to give the last word on the matter. My views however are mine, and I cannot dictate yours. All I can do is offer my opinion on what I believe would fit best.
yea
3:30 Ulysses is so right in this. The Old World can no longer be brought back to what it was. And even if a semblance of it does come back, the same mistakes that caused the Great War and the Resource Wars will kick in again. Moira in Fallout 3 even said that "Even if you reassemble a broken glass, it will never be the same again. But you can use those broken shards to build something else entirely."

Damn, I know about Hughes a lot and didn't caught this reference before, thanks bud.
R.I.P Howard Hughes.
I didn’t knew you can electrocute him. Of course, I’ve only beaten the game once so far.
4:25 Caesar = THUG LIFE 🔥🔥🔥🔥😂😂
My God, Obsidian recorded so much dialogue

I find the white gloves’ comment quite funny
This looks like a complication of interviews lol.

Everyone: Nobody care Boomer.

Those Fiends' comments makes me glad there's no Fiends Ending. Damn savages.
I have done all endings so far on NV. And I still think House is the best ending. Even if I didn't agree with some of his methods.
I agree, I think if he focused more on the regular citizens and the earth in general instead of going to space it would make him more empathetic
@@anthonyiglesias1221 he's currently running the strip as a business. There is nothing he cares about besides profit.
However, once he has his army of securitrons and NCR and Legion are not longer a threat, he can use the wealth of the Strip to expand and make life better for everybody.
That being said, it will still be essentially a police state and he will also be reliant on having allies.
There is also no guarantee he will help the average wastelander at all.
House does nothing to help anyone outside the strip, then conquers other towns 1st chance he gets
He attacks the kings if they have made peace with ncr settlers
He is a capitalist Ceaser
@Joshua-fi4ji House does say he has plans to revitalize the world and specifically the technology sectors to try and colonize other planets. He's pragmatic enough to realize that he needs to do A and B before he can do C.
@@Joshua-fi4ji House holds the most potential, but not all that promising.
House is a businessman, not an Politician or a General or a King, he is knowledgeable of business and economics but when it comes to politics, society and ruling he is clueless. I believe him when he says he can restart heavy industry, but whether he would be able too given how likely it is that he will be undermined and sabotaged by his own faulty reign is hard to say.
I do believe Mr. House is the best choice for Vegas, but he isn't as great or as infallible as most of us make him out to be.
