    Honestly Bolt really does kinda expose the treatment of American directors and agents towards child actors.
    I remember Daniel Radcliffe talking about how Chris Columbus was super friendly with him and the rest of the children in Philosopher's stone and treated them like children first and foremost while following up with saying if they filmed in America hes not sure they would've done the same and the Harry Potter movies never would've worked and they never would've acted again.

    Bolt has a profound message: the things you initially believed in may not be as what it seems. Bolt's journey from "finding Penny" became a journey of finding himself, and when he did, he even had a mindset saying: "If you (Penny) should fall into hell, I'll fall into hell with you."

    16:05 It's even worse when you realize what declawing actually does. It removes the first bone in each of their toes. Jackson Galaxy explains it better than me, but it can actually harm the cat's ability to walk. So it's even crueler than you think.

    This movie is so underrated, at least no one talks about it even though it's a supreme masterpiece. And the animation and art style looks so good, the dog hair, everything looks so good in this movie it could be from this year. And it's so genius too, I didn't catch things when I watched it as a kid, like how Penny was repalced by another actress so they "had to reconstruct her face" in the show, I thought that Penny and Bolt simply went back to the show but, in the show, they had to reconstruct her face, not that it was another actress replacing her. I love this movie, it's just perfect.

    • @anasevi9456
      @anasevi9456 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep, and what makes it worse is cat's don't tear things up unless they are bored/neglected. It's not like a puppy going through a chewing stage that's unavoidable, though I find dogs are destructive for the same reasons otherwise. If you have an indoor cat which is best for the cat and wildlife, just accept they are going to need 10 minutes of play every day, scratch post, fresh toy every few months and a couple good windows to watch birds. Also having two cats can also save them a lot of boredom.

    • @Reptile_Gecko
      @Reptile_Gecko ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@codetron1.1 you realise the cats literally destroyed your dad's stuff because he very likely didn't have anything for them to scratch, right? A cat scratches for health reasons, exercises their muscles and keeps the claws filed down, it's people with shitty 6 inch tall scratch poles that get their stuff torn up, that's why Ana mentioned it being avoidable because it is, you give them a more desirable sized scratch pole (typically not just one) and put it next to furniture and they'll use it because it gives them a better full scratch, like imagine one as tall as the cat is in length factoring in their body length and both their front and back legs fully stretch, that's a proper height for a scratch pole.. Plus, uhh fyi some cats have literally almost died saving their owners, they can also be trained, so both those facts make them similar to dogs as well, it just depends on the cat just like it depends on the dog. It is because some dog and cat breeds are more independent while others more cuddly even considered lap animals.
      Oh, and on the declawing point if anyone didn't know it is surgery of the first digit on every toe, and also risks and typically causes a cat to be more aggressive and dangerous and have a greater risk to their life, as for example in the fostering world if a cat scratches you it's fine, but if they bite it typically has to be called in, which eventually can lead to them being put down for being dangerous. And all it comes from is people being lazy or cheap on their cat stuff (Which literally can be DIYed from scrap materials and cheap stuff like basic carpeting or rugs and PVC or spare wood), and instead going to the length of taking away one of their cats ways to defend itself.

    I really enjoyed the movie and like most Disney movies it has a really interesting production history.
    Origianlly it was a passion project by Chris Sanders (the director of Lilo & Stitch) and was going to be a completley different movie titled American Dog. It was going to be a much more surreal film about an actor dog getting lost in the wilderness and had to team-up with a feral cat and a radioactive bunny. If I remember right it was supposedly inspired by those paintings of dogs playing poker.
    Unfortunatley (or fortunatley depending on how you see it), Chris Sanders left Disney over creative diferences and went on to create How To Train Your Dragon over at DreamWorks.
    The 'American Dog' project meanwhile was handed over to Chris Williams & Byron Howard, neither of which had ever directed a full movie before (although both had been writers for Disney as far back as Mulan in 1998) but since then both have gone on to Direct several successful films. Chris Williams directed both Big Hero 6 and Moana and Byron Howard directed Tangled, Zootropolis and Disney's next animated film Encanto. So I guess in a way, Bolt is kind of a milestone. Disney lost the Lilo & Stitch guy but that opened up the door for all these other projects at both Disney and Dreamworks. Bolt was also the first film fully under the supervision of creative consultant John Lasseter.

    As I kid I was ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with "Bolt". I even bought a dog just so I can name him Bolt. Unfortunately my Dad is a huge "F.R.I.E.N.D.S" fan so he ended up with the name Joey

    I love this movie so much! And the fire scene and reunions, Penny's mom freaking out (this part makes my heart break every time), and then punching the agent! They don't make movies like this anymore!

      Same. So surreal when you know exactly what part of the soutrack comes next and memorize the moment that comes up from the scene select.

    there is a line in this film when bolt rescues mittens that goes something like
    “are you ready for this?”
    “no”
    “neither am i”
    ... if that’s not the most “ow screw it” energy ever idk what is

    As Bolt holds Mittens over the freeway, a transit bus numbered 2525 speeds past. The bus is inspired by the action movie Speed (1994), which starred Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
