long story short, we don't do refunds or exchanges like america. once you buy, it's done. esp for chain shops, and credit cards. it's not impossible but you weren't being ripped off, you asked for something they can't do/not trained for (reverse card charge)- custom here is that reversal is to be done by the cardholder, not the shop. language barrier is also an issue - i suspect both sides are using english differently, including how the security guard understood you later, because as i said it's practically unheard of + ppl here especially don't say things directly in the first person (when they said, it's not done here, the translation is = i cannot do it). one last note about laughing/smiling - it's a cultural difference: you see more of this in stressful experiences tbh rather than outright aggression. they're trying to soothe the situation because they won't/can't tell you but of course it must feel odd as an outsider

Because too many works to be done when cancelling a payment. They need to do the CC refund and key in data. Then do some paperwork for report. If they are too many cancellation within a month the superior will be questioned by the higher up. In the end the higher up will questioning the staff ethic on not do their job right eventhough it is the customer who changed their mind last minute. After all, customer always right. So thats why there are policy on no cancellation or refund after payment be made. there are some food chain and mart that allow cancellation and refund but only supervisor/manager can allow to do so.
Actually to cancel it some of convenience store they need their supervisor to cancel....i dont why they need this kind of rule....sorry for you guys...mostly happened the staff is new or the manager is not there so ...for easy way they just state that they cannot cancel the order..
Don't let little things like that spoil your day guys. In Malaysia, it is best to use cash, especially when you're out of town. In Melaka, be sure to eat Baba Nyonya foods, Satay Celup, Popiah with pork lard, and also Portuguese seafoods at the Portuguese Settlement!😅😊

(물론 주인장에 따라 다르겠지만..대체로. 하지만 하루종일 안읽는 사람도 있긴 있었음.) 모든 커뮤니케이션이 왓츠앱으로ㅜ 에휴, 세븐 일레븐에서 너무 너무 답답하셨겠어요ㅠ.ㅠ 제 추측으로는 시골이라 그리고 편의점 직원 계속 새로 들어오고..신참들 엄청 많아요. 자신이 못하는 일은 배째라 안된다고 우김. 전에 7-11 한직원이 쇼피 (한국으로 치면 쿠팡) 스캔도 잘 못해서 옆에 동료직원이 교육시켜줬음. 자신의 무능력을 당황스러움을 웃음으로 무마 아니면 모델같은 두분이 멋져서 웃었을지도. (예전에 저도 편의점 직원들이 키득키득 웃길래 기분나빠서 왜 웃느냐고 비웃느냐고 물으니깐 한국인 보니 신기하고 피부 좋고 예뻐서라고 함ㅋ) 전반적으로 이런 일들은 주로 외노자들 (방글라데시, 파키스탄, 네팔 등)이 말레이시아에서 일하고 계속 일자리를 바꿔 직원들 교육도 제대로 안되어있고 이 경험 때문에 말레이시아에 대한 이미지가 나빠지지않았음 해요. 말레이시아 본토사람들 대부분이 친절하고 예의바르고 순수함. 갱갱님 흰 top과 저번에 사신 흰 조개 목걸이 너무 잘 어울리시네요. 봉달님 에어 비 앤 비 들어올때 여자들 표정 꼭 연예인 본 표정ㅋㅋㅋ 요새 말레이시아 편 넘 재밌게 보고있어요~~ 오늘 줄리스 땅콩버터 과자 사러 갈려구요ㅎ P.S. 기억을 더듬어보니 예전에 쿠알라룸푸르 7-11에서 cancel하고 딴 제품으로 급 바꾼 적이 있었는데 그 직원이 supervisor 불러서 처리하고 시간이 오래걸리더라구요.

I also recently found that out! Previously, I always had fast food like cup noodles or sandwiches at convenience stores. Last month when I went to TBS, I happened to encounter eateries that sell REAL food on Level 2 and was pleasantly surprised.😁
If credit card, it can be cancelled. I think the staff does not know how to cancel n do a new payment. It would be hard to reverse certain items since the cash register needs supervisor card bypass. So the best us cancel the card payment n re-do..
I'm sorry for the inconvenience but its also not in our culture to cancel cards transaction 🥲 I never did that and I never heard of anyone did that. Not just 7eleven, everywhere in Malaysia usually physical store don't accept refunds except online store where we can do it ourselves. Even big store don't have refunds or reverse card transactions I believe. Those kids probably don't even know they could that since we never really done that. I never thought it could be an inconvenience but seeing this I think Malaysia mart can start having that as well. As for the check in, its supposed to be easy. I feel like its the owner responsibility to help you checked in. Especially when you're travelers from overseas, they should've assist you guys with that. I'm guessing they have language barrier problem and never handle any travelers from oversea since they are not in the city area. 7-eleven got some weird rules. Once I wanted to pay by cash, then changed my mind because I don't have small change and wanted to pay using card. Then the cashier refused because he already scan and has open the cash drawer....very weird why can't they just cancel......!!
Because some situations need supervisor around, only supervisor has the right. Normal staff cannot or didn't have qualified just simply make a cancel that ask from client. Even at mall still same, cashier need to ask permission from supervisor if want to make any cancellation that client ask for.
It's not weird but a form of cash control for the register. More so, if his supervisor is not present. Even supermarkets does it (u will notice there are supervisors ard) ...👌

You can't do it without a supervisor (if you can in the first place, like if bagi muka or genuinely bought something wrong to replace, or the cashier own mistake, but simply changing your mind is not standard); but more usually people have to call the bank themselves. This part is not usual for them.

Dear both...not every country is similar to ur country or some countries that allow ur store card to pay for the goods u have purchased, or fully utilised whatever bal left therein. U have to conduct research first in a foreign country..👌
U already charged ur card..then u want to replace different item..it cannot be cancelled..as simple as tht..the staffs should properly explained it to u...ur card under visa or master not 7 eleven who takes ur money from the card...visa master will pay to 7 eleven and claim from ur bank so u cannot simply cancel card sale like cash sale...even if u have unauthorized transaction ur bank need to investigate first before u can claim any refund right...this is different from preauthorization by hotel when u check in..tht one they only reserve the amount in ur card first not charged yet so they can cancel the preauthorization..but for sale transaction once u have approved ur card will be charged..any issue u need to contact ur bank

I work in a hotel, refund needs to fill up form, take time. Top management do not encourage or like refund to happen.
I never cancel in 7-11, so i do not know about this policy.
