This video doesn't really do her justice, but Amy really is one of the best Christines in recent years. She has a *beautiful* voice, and gives the character a vulnerability that makes her relationship with the Phantom entirely convincing. Seeing her paired with Ben was incredibly satisfying.
She was a much better partner on stage to Ben than Kelly was. You could sense the growing bond between them. With Amy's Christine, you understood that LND was totally possible. Not so much with Kelly's.
Have adored Ben's voice since Australia's Love Never Dies video. He makes such a superb Phantom. Wish I could have seen him live. He and Amy make a wonderful pair.
Ben and Ramin are some of my favorite phantoms... and although Ramin’s voice enchants me, Ben’s deep and powerful voice brings the more scary/intimidating side of phantom out... and it’s just perfect
Ben is awesome! Don’t know if he’s the best ever... but he’s up there. I really love Ben Crawford’s take on the role, search him in a recording of the performance (Ben Crawford looks silly in concert versions), when he’s on stage performing he IS the phantom. Also, Michael Crawford is of course the original and a wonderful phantom, he really is just so ghostly. But I think a combination of both Ben and Michael Crawford would be Davis Gaines. He is just a ghost! He sounds so mysterious and scary, yet seductive. Give him a shot
14:48 "You little *_V I P E R_* " I'm dying.... He's such a good Phantom but whenever he tries to yell out some emotional lines I burst into a fit of laughter LMFAO
That's how the blocking had always been in London unless the actor playing the Phantom was hurt. When the show originally transferred to New York, Michael Crawford was recovering from an injury he sustained, and so they didn't include the catch and it stayed that way everywhere but Her Majesty's. I fear with the restaged tour replacing the original when the show re-opens, we're going to loose that last bit of Hal Prince.

Ben is such a great phantom.. he's so professional and respectful working with both Amy and Kelly. I don't dig the friendship/dynamic between Sierra and Ramin.. I find it too flirty and sleezy I can't explain it..Ben is just a true gentleman
@@maxinewalters This is my take on why Ramin and Sierra are so popular: they provide a pretty standard take on their characters (interpretations) and they are in a very easily accessible version that fans and newcomers can all watch. This is why they are so popular; most people don't know more than that version (or the 2004 film, but the singing in that film......). As for Ramin, he is a great performer, but I don't feel he is the best for Phantom; whenever he gets emotional, he gets sharp and a little shouty (squeaks at the end of some notes). His vibrato gets a little wild... And he sometimes composes his own music to sing 😂. The reason I love Ben and Amy is that their phrasing is similar (classical training, yay!) and Ben has the best vocal control I've ever heard in a Phantom, and I've heard a lot. His voice is always so smooth, I've never heard his voice break in a inartistic way lol. He connects his notes and adds slides, particularly in MOTN and PONR. His "soar" in MOTN is the purest I've ever heard, especially the connection between "to" and "soar". It's so clean!!! The transition between chest voice and falsetto (Ex. "Close your _eyes_") in MOTN is supposed to sound smooth, and although the texture should be different, you should still be able to identify the singer/voice. Ben's mixed register is fantastic; see 8:53. Meanwhile, Ramin sounds like 2 completely different people in his different registers. In STDYI, Ben manages to emote anger, pain, and the phantom's deep-rooted self-loathing without ever going out of pitch. A lot of other phantoms, including Ramin, start inventing their own notes 😂. This is just my opinion, but I prefer when phantoms remain rooted in their notes, yet can still express everything they want with their voice and acting.
