I went to CVS yesterday and an employee pointed me to a self checkout kiosk and stood there and watched everything I did ready to jump in and tell me the next step. And there was a woman waiting for a cashier cuz she was paying cash with no idea what to do, and the employee was too busy trying to tell me how to check out! They should have both!
The self checkouts in my local Sainsbury supermarket are faulty and twice have stiffed me out of money. I will not use them and wait for the staff to serve me.

self checkout is no different than getting your own gas, or getting your own fountain drink at the convenience store, or getting your own food at a buffet.
personally, i like self checkout better.....its faster. you dont have to wait behind a bunch of jackasses who want to have a 10 minute conversation with the checker.
