Brabantia Wall Mounted Folding Clothes Drier Review

    This video may not seem to have anything to do with bushcraft, gardening, self-sufficiency or prepping but being able to dry clothes for free in all conditions saves money.
    With the current (rising) cost of electricity everything we can do to save money is important.
    We use the washing machine, dishwasher, cooker etc. during the day while our solar panels (12.6kW system) are producing plenty of power and the charged batteries feed the house on a night - that provides most of our electric needs during the Summer, not so much in the Winter due to the short days up North.

      I got lots of infrastructure in before the covaids nonsense of 2020 and it has paid off big time. Vegetable gardens, solar power (no smart meter) and a better chance of navigating the nonsense coming our way leading up to 2030.

    If you have problems with condensation fill a pillowcase with silica gel cat litter it sucks up water in the air like dyson lol

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds good but the condensation problems are minimal now since we got a proper roof on the conservatory - that makes a hell of a difference to heating and keeping heat in the house as during the day I open up the doors from the conservatory to the main house when the sun is out and the huge volume of warm air warms the whole house then I close the doors mid-afternoon when the sun is off the conservatory. Free way to heat the house and it prevents cold rooms - definitely a bonus working from home.

    Thanks, Richard! Clothes are always better for 'a bit of a blow', and this looks like a great option for winter use. I have just been out with a measuring tape to see where we could fit it.

      Yes, it's blowing rain here today with sunny intervals and I've dried towels, jeans and other quite heavy items no problem - even my wife thinks it's great which doesn't happen much for my purchases since most are made in preparation for what may happen in the future, not what's going on in the present.
      It's hard being 5 years ahead, lol

      For sure and if the drier is under cover it can hang there for days in the Winter.
      I debated whether to make a review on this due to the nature of my other videos but it's a really great drier so I uploaded the video anyway.

    How do I install it onto my dryer

  • @sunkat_7809

    Hey thanks for this vid. I have this line and the mechanism to fold back down seems to be stuck. Any ideas of how I can release it? Thanks in advance 😊

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The release mechanism is often very stiff but I've not had any problems folding the mechanism away.
      I'm not sure what would prevent it from closing - sorry, I'm not much help here.

  • @junehall5210

    It says on instructions put metal plate with 35cms space above....is this correct & why???

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't notice any instruction about leaving a space but I imagine that fixing which holds it to the wall needs to be a minimum of 35cm down from any overhanging structure (e.g. roof) to allow the mechanism to fold away properly when the drier arms are pulled out and retracted. The stored arms of the drier do extend above the fixing plate.
      Hope that makes sense.

    With the wind we've just had and possibly more to come I'm surprised the washing stayed on the line 🤣🤣

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the clothes wouldn't stay on my main washing line but they were fine on this one as it's a bit more sheltered (and gets more sun) - I'm well pleased with it.

    Mine is not locking I don't want to force it as it feels it will break

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you push up at the point where it locks in the wall mount you can get it locked in with no fear of damaging the drier itself.

    DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON, 92 POUNDS ON AMAZON VS 21POUNDS ON EBAY.

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from the genuine Brabantia wall mounted driers which are between £92-£114.99 from various sellers online the only less expensive type which look similar are cheap Chinese knock offs on ebay and Amazon.
      If you have a link feel free to post it for the drier you are referencing.
