Burson does Rock. I have the Burson Soloist 3X Performance and it's great. Almost has a little hybrid tube amp flavor. Great balanced amp for a variety of music genres

Good video. Decent option for ppl looking for an affordable gear with playmate 2. If the can't reach higher..

@@TheHonestAudiophile especially giving ppl another option outside going the chifi usual market no shade to them, and buy something that isn't focused on best measuring devices but sound. Burson recent stuff namely, seems pretty on point overall.

Great Video, how do you feel about the Burson Funk versus other class As like the GSX mini or the Singxer SA-1?
I really enjoyed the Funk, especially for the speaker out capability. As for sound comparison to the GS-X Mini, the Funk is warmer overall and the soundstage is compressed a little bit and the detail retrieval and resolution is slightly behind. I haven't heard the SingerX SA-1.
I wish they would make a balanced dedicated headphone amp in this price range. Something like the Soloist 3XP with the Funk's chassis and form factor.

@@TheHonestAudiophile You mention the soundstage is a bit cramped. Could you name some other amps as reference points? I'm new to your channel, but I see you've recently reviewed the iFi Signature and Diablo, which I'm familiar with (but haven't heard). What amps would you say have larger, similar, and smaller soundstages compared to the Funk? I don't suppose you've heard the Soloist 3XP or Jotunheim 2? I actually just received my Jot 2 and, at least based on SE output (waiting for my balanced headphone cable to arrive) am disappointed by the soundstage it projects into my Arya, which is supposed to be the soundstage king (at least, after HD 800 S). I'm hoping running it balanced will take care of the sou damage issue, and I wonder if that's perhaps the reason for the Funk's underwhelming soundstage.
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou I've reviewed the Burson Playmate 2 and Conductor 3XP and they both had similar stages to the Funk. As for other amps the Topping A90 is not a recommendation. The iFi Signature and Diablo are both excellent amplifier that have a touch more width. The Geshelli Labs Erish and Archel are both excellent and also have a tad more width. Don't get me wrong though, the Burson have a nice stage just some times it sounds a bit too small and cramped.
I have the soloist 3XP and love it. Curious to see how it compares to a GS-X Mini though

Can you specify what version you tested in terms of op-amps: Basic or Vivid?
I used both of those op-amps. Burson included them both.
idk if i want this desktop amp. I'm looking for something more incisive but not too bright. The warm burson sound with it rounding the edges on transients just wouldn't sit well with me. I like my sound to have a lil bit of edge. My search continues.
Totally understand. HeadAmp GS-X Mini, Drop THX 789 and THX One Linear are my daily amps.
