  • Wanting to make your attack more adaptive? Interested in creating a more aggressive disengagement? Perhaps you are wanting to give your attack a bit of a flourish? Look no further than the Coupé!
The Coupé is an adaptive, powerful, and effective action to round out any foilist's attack technique. It enables the fencer to avoid searches, create feints, finish in opposing lines, accelerate the attack, and transition into opposing lines.

I can understand reason of doing cutover instead of disengagement clearly for the first time from this video.
    Very helpful!!!
but i don't know the reason why disengagement is used more frequently
than coupe... is there weak point of coupe?

Frequency typically boils down to two things: coaching/instruction, and personal preference. The disengagement is pretty reliable as it doesn't really compromise point control and many novice and intermediate fencers are prone to high line parries such as Six and Four making a disengagement more advantageous. While this doesn't mean the parry won't find the attack, it persists due to less experienced fencers feeling less comfortable with a cut-over versus the more common disengagement.
