I’m happy to play Barry-O’s BBQ Challenge at TPF, but like everyone else, it’s not a game I would buy. There are so many great Oursler games out there, why would I want that game in my line up? AP is disappointing. I want them to succeed, but then we get things like this. I even liked GTF enough to make a trade for one, and I still enjoy it, but here’s the thing, I never would have paid full price for one. The trade value landed around $7K and I felt that was fair for that game.
Nick, you’re not wrong about BBHr’s subscription service. I do play mine a lot. But I have to agree with you on the costs of qualifying for the yearly tournament. Their subscription service is obviously to dissuade people from putting them in their basements and keeping it in the bars.
I went to a random arcade bar with a friend in his town, and it had a bunch of broken 90s machines and a freakin PoTC CE. I was just starting to get into pinball, but the freaking thing blew our minds. It was so insanely good. We were amazed at amount of toys and features it had, and we did not even understand the rules (gold collecting) or ever saw the canon being fired. Even without that, I knew I wanted one, until I saw its price… It really is the GOAT imo. I hope they do a rerun, I might buy one even though I dont have NIB money at all. That night was full of euphoria, holy moly, it was so fun…
I remember watching the BP reveal and it’s still a popular video in my watchlist. That video practically put the BP guys on the map. I jumped on the waitlist for a POTC the day I saw the BP reveal. Over the next 12 months, I watched every JJP video involving its production, all the drama, etc…finally got my LE in November 2018 and I have owned it ever since. I will never sell it as it’s easily one of the best games ever made, if not THE best game ever made. My wife would never forgive me if I ever sold it. You’re correct Nick, there’s a difference between depth and complicated. POTC is deep. Solid review. I don’t need movie clips in the game. Watch the movie if you want movie clips. It’s so unbelievably tragic how JJP has abandoned POTC owners since. Still no final code. Will not buy another JJP game because you can’t ever trust that JJP will finish anything they start. The excuse that it’s unnecessary to finish the code because it’s unrealistic to think anyone will ever see the ending unless their name is Karl DeAngelo is lame. The ending should be in there! It’s on the playfield! What’s the point of any form of entertainment if there isn’t a goal, or an ending…especially after JJP said the game would ship with 1.0 code. Now here we are, 7 years later. Even Stern gives JP owners an option to just play the wizard mode, so in that, it could at least be coded to that could be something that we could see by itself. How many betas are they up to now? And how many games have they released since POTC shipped? Ugh…JJP needs to do better.
I hope Barry-O had a good 401k bcuz I don't think the family is going to get many residuals for this and HAGGIS at least they kissed their customers before they F@#K them with that statement this was one of your funniest shows keep up the good work great show as always
I had a potc ce for 4 years until I sold it. Biggest reasons I sold it was I got 30gs for it, it didn't have all the assets and actually has very few assets from the movie. It really had nothing I cared to see that really caught my attention as far as movie clips. If they would have had better actual movie clips that people wanted to see, then I would have said it was perfect. Also, airballs and balls getting stuck on parts of the playfiend happened constantly. Playfield quality was not good, mine had bubbling issues and it took over 3 years for me to get a replacement playfield that I was told would take a month. Then to boot, they contacted me a year after I sold it that I could order a new playfield that I had been waiting for for years. I honestly didn't mind getting rid of this game at all & I think it goes to show just how different peoples opinions can be. I have no interest in this game anymore unless they remake it with more assets then I'm in!
And I'll add to my original post that to compare it to cactus canyon both being ranked 14th on pinside is an absolute joke. POTC is 10x the game CCR and anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy!
I have a Big Buck Reloaded in my basement. I have ZERO interest in Big Buck. I am only interested in the other games. I also have ZERO interest in playing online. None of my guests that come over ever play the Big Buck game either. They only play the other games.
I have both the Stern and JJP Pirates games. I have played the Stern version 100x more than the JJP game. I have played the JJP game about 10x since I got it about 9 months ago. If I had to choose, I would definitely take the Stern version.

BBQ pinball by American? Feels like a PinBall Adventures theme and follow up to Punny Factory

Thank you, we'll eventually clip it and make it it's own post.
