The wrapper by DDMF is really cool, especially if you are looking to use it in a sound design. It works by using patch cables instead of just putting them in a row like inserts. It works really well.
This is exactly what I need, but I can't get it to work. Pro Tools just won't find the plugin. I followed your other video on finding plugins and it still won't appear. Downloaded the AAX version, installed in the common files\avid\audio\plugins folder, deleted the InstalledAAX file and rebooted Pro Tools. I've done this several times over and even when I set the plugin sorting to manufacturer, I don't even get Blue Cat as an option. Even tried downloading the standalone version thinking maybe it was some weird driver issue but the standalone works fine. I'm so lost.
I forget exactly how it was with blue cat, but generally when we install plugins for pro tools, we are just running an installer. So, I'd have questions about your install process here, especially the deleting the aax file part. You might want to check to see if there was something like a dmg or exe installer (depending on your system), and run that. The other thing I would ask is this: what type of track are you trying to put the plugin on?
How do you get Pro Tools 12 to see Blue Cat, I added a new audio track click on insert can't find it, I installed Win App x64 demo and VST Demo not in pro tools list anywhere HELP!
Did you install the AAX version of Blue Cat Audio's Patchwork? Pro Tools isn't compatible with VSTs, so installing the VST version of Patchwork won't help you use it in PT. I don't have a windows system, so I'm not 100% on the windows 64 bit version, but it might be a standalone app, or something.
Hi Cato: Great stuff! ... Questions: Did you create the VST folder yourself? How does Patchwork find it? Or is the folder automatically created? And does this work with virtual instruments in VST? Thanks, and more power to women in engineering!!! Lou Carlozo, Chicago
You know, it's been a while since I've had the VST folder, but I think if you don't have any plugins yet, then a folder is created on install. I think it either auto does it, or prompts you about it. I'm not sure if there are any virtual instruments that it works with - I think pretty much all the virtual instruments I'm using have AAX versions - but I know it won't work with some of the ones that I have, because I have tried that out of curiosity. Maybe there's a way to get it to work, but I haven't dug into that yet.
I'm not sure. There might be by now, but I haven't looked into that. I'd search for VST wrappers for AAX plugins and see what comes up. Let me know it goes - good luck!
I use it because I worked in big commercial studios for years and that's what you need to know to do that. It's a career decision. Now that I'm sunk into it, I keep using it. I did recently revisit and take some lessons in other DAWs though, and found that there were things you can customize in Pro Tools that aren't available in other DAWs. But, it was *mostly* stuff that you wouldn't need unless you were working as an audio engineer: for example, stuff that's useful when you have a client in the booth and you need to be able to multitask and work, while also being ready to hit record the second the artist is ready. So, it can be a pain for newbies, that's for sure, but that kind of comes with the territory sometimes for things with extra customization. So, I keep using it. But, most DAWs are really good nowadays, so I think which is best to use depends on the person and their needs. I'm certainly not going to assume my perspective applies to everyone and start something about it. 😆
Oh man, this unlocks a whole new ground of possibilities, i didn’t know about this plugin ! Thanks

Nice tutorial.. really helpful! ❤️
I hope it solves my problem. Thanks! 👍🏻
thanks for the tutorial!
Sure thing, I'm glad you liked it!
Does this affect the quality of the plugin, audio samples (if it's a virtual instrument plugin) or the stability/responsiveness of the plugin?
Thank you
Great Tutorial.... 🌹🌸👌

Is there delay
what do you mean? There are definitely delay VST plugins, if that's what you're asking.
aren't there any free ways to do this?
