Omar: I apologize for singing with the chorus, but your posts are among my favourites anywhere. The reasons? (1) you're entertaining -- save me from the earnest academic reviews and posts; (2) you're knowledgeable, and your views are practical -- your choices and compromises of weight v. "specs" v. . . . . tradeoffs . . . always seem to match mine, and are always considered and self-questioning; and (3) YOUR PHOTOS ARE GREAT. It's a pleasure seeing great images, with wonderful (but frequently simple) compositions that call attention to your subject, your story, your place -- all without calling attention to the photographer. Your stuff doesn't scream "I'm Omar and look at me even though you can't because I'm behind the lens!"; rather, your photos just say "look at me -- I'm great!" Keep it up, sir!
I actually decided to choose the Nikon Z6II over a Canon R6 because of Nikon’s mirrorless lens selection. I know at first Nikon was really criticized for the direction they were taking in regards to lenses, but I feel like now their lineup is far more fleshed out than Canon’s. I hope you’re enjoying the Z-mount as much as it sounds like you are! As always, great content!
@@cj7073 I think a big criticism at the time was that they started with f/1.8 lenses, the 50, 85, and 35; people presumed they weren’t pro lenses because they weren’t 1.4 or 1.2. Then they released the 58mm f0.95 before releasing a more practical professional 1.2 lens, which people found reasons to complain about. They’re all really good though, and the 1.8 lenses make a lot of sense since they’re really well corrected but still relatively small, and good high ISO performance makes up for letting in less light. Still, I understand, we all always want MORE BOKEH!
@@shlawchablaas And the 1.8s aren't as expensive, right?! I'm sure they will make 1.4 and 1.2s and slap a yellow band around it and charge $$$$... hehehe
I have to say that I really do like what Canon did with their compact 16mm lens. Wouldn't mind such a lens for Nikon as well, in line with the 28mm and 40mm.
I’m a Nikon z shooter and I definitely think Canon’s RF glass selection is substantially better. The compact 70-200 2.8 and the 28-70 2.8 are both a big advantage for many types of photographers
@@shmuelaryehkoltov241 that’s why I went to Nikon as well. Ideally if the budget allows in the future I want to keep both systems as I can’t do without one of them.
There seems to be a lot of Fujifilm shooters who switch to Nikon. I haven't seen Canon shooters switching to Nikon, but I hear both Sony and Fujifilm shooters switching. Could be interesting to know, if there's a way to find out about this, if this is just pure anecdotal or there is something to it.
Omar's enthusiasm makes me want to sell all my gear and invest in Nikon lol. I'm not gonna do that but it makes me more passionate get to out there and take more photos. I've never owned an Nikon but man I'm eyeballing and F3 high point. Thanks a lot Omar keep up the good work!
Christopher frost just reviewed the 24-120 and he said it’s one of the best he’s ever tested. I do the same Job as you Omar so I know why you love the 24-70 2.8 or better yet why you “need” it more than love it. I too need it but I use the 24-120g vr and for the event work it’s great! I realized that I’m usually at 3.5-4 anyway when using the 2.8g I hate that lens too heavy and carrying it all day shows up on my body the next day especially when the you add a speed light. Check out the new version of the 24-120 very versatile. They are also releasing the 28-75 2.8 let’s see how good it is Matt Irwin has one just unboxed it so reviews will be coming it’s about 1100
I shoot events hybrid with Nikon as well. Coincidentally I shoot mainly f3.5 on stage. My 2 focal lengths are generally 24 (on stage) and 50 for crowd. Im looking at getting the 28 and 40 f2.8 as I want lighter lenses going forward.
Living in New Zealand, as soon as I read the first review of the 24-120 f/4 lens for Z mount, I jumped on line and bought a copy through a local importer who gets stuff directly from Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan. A reasonable deal. Definitely one of the best lens purchases I've ever made. So versatile and makes such excellent images!! Later I learnt there were long supply delays in the US. Hang in these folks, it's gold!!
I'm a vintage lens user (on Fuji X-H1 & Nikon d810) and there's just something magic about all the nikon 105mm lenses for portraits. Mine are ancient, 105/2.5 and 105/1.8 and I just love the photos I get with both.
I have the 135mm 1:2 Ai-S as I am a 135 type of guy. It is excellent, heavy but also well balanced on my D4. There‘s also absolutely no alternative available from Nikon.
Nice to see the 105/1.8 get mentioned! At a family party a few years back, I used the 105/1.8 and the 85 1.8G in consecutive shots and...definitely felt right away the 105/1.8 had a little bit more magic for whatever reason.
@@Funktrainer I have had the 135 f/2 AI for ages, but recently got a half-priced 135 DC for my Nikon Df (the DC ring wouldn't lock so the lens went for only $260 or so). The weight balance on the 135 DC is a lot nicer and despite some reviews online, I have been very happy with wide-open sharpness with the autofocus lens.
Thomas Heaton just did a review/discussion of the 24-70 f/4 vs the 24-70 f/2.8 lens. He is a landscaper photographer so the f/4 lens was pretty much a no brainer. I think for the work you do speed is much more important with the low light situations. Welcome to Nikon!
Another excellent video. I have just bought two Nikon Zf cameras and Omar's video is really helping me decide which lenses I need to try. I always enjoy his work and after recently watching some truly appalling videos from other TH-cam presenters, I can only praise Omar for his sense of fun, his honesty and his great photos. Quite a few wannabe presenters would be well advised to watch Omar and pick up some tips on how it SHOULD be done.
@@sharladelancey she actually likes the grip much better on my Fuji X-T4 over her Z6 due to having smaller hands. Though she doesn’t like the grip I put on the X-T4. As for weight, she doesn’t seem to mind the weight, saying she came from using the Nikon D810, which was a hefty tank of a camera in comparison.
I have just recently bought the cheap z mount 28mm f/2.8. Think about getting hold of one, shoot and check the images it turns out. I cannot believe it is that cheap. Such an incredible lens. I liked it so much I’m also buying the 40mm f/2 version. The fact they’re so light and small and still produce such excellent images is beyond me.
I had just recently sold my X-T4 and bought the Z6ii because of your videos and I couldn't be happier. I loved the Fuji X-T4 and the film simulations that made the experience so fun to shoot, but I wasent crazy about the flip screen and the ergonomic felt a little lacking to me. Loving the experience so much with my z6ii with the kit lense and can't wait to grab the macro lense for this bad boy. Thank you so much for helping me make that decision with your fantastic videos Omar 😌 keep up the good work and never stop being a silly Goose.
Followed you when I was a Fuji X-T- 3 owner and just went back to Nikon with a Z 5 . You are always fun and informative to watch.Your event work is stellar - nice to see Bar-Bat Mitzvah events. Your street photography is inspiring and most bring out a big "wow" from me.
Hey Omar, thanks for the great video and content. I am a travel and portrait photography and love the Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras. The Z mount lenses are superb in their sharpness and rendering. I also purchased the Z-mount 50mm f/1.8 S lens. The resolution, color and rendering are superb. I'm seriously considering the new Nikon 24-120mm f/4 S lens for travel and general use. As mentioned the eye autofocus and tracking are not as good as with Canon and Sony offerings but the color rendition and dynamic range are what matter most in my work. In my photography journey I've shot just about every brand of mirrorless camera but there is something really special with the Nikon files. They offer a more cinematic rendering that suits my style and vision.
Cinematic is a good point. That is the reason why I am using the Leica M system with Leitz glass, the Nikon F system with Nikkors and a Zeiss lens and the Hasselblad H system.
I absolutely love your wide-angle shots. The party photos are awesome, and that portrait at 11:14 is stunning. It makes me want to experiment more with my 14-30 lens. The colors and processing are great too.
Awesome to see an experienced non-Nikon shooter discover Nikon. Nikon optics are second to none (in most cases lol - there are some dogs but not really in the Z mount), and the Nikon RAW files are also second to none. There has been a lot of haters in recent times pretty much as a result of mirrorless AF (which has been a bit behind with Nikon) but is now pretty much caught up with the Z9. Even the Z6/7II AF system is perfectly good for event shooting as long as you know the system. Anyway, love living vicariously through you as you discover Nikon and how great it is :)
Even the first gen z6/z7 are great cameras, in particular since the AF update last autumn. Those two bodies are probably the two most underrated cameras currently and can be had at great second hand prices! Agree, the Z lenses are great, even the cheap 28/40mm ones deliver really good images. Love the approach of the new Z 1.8 series, price and size between the old F mount 1.4 and 1.8, but optics certainly as good as (if not better) the old 1.4’s. I see them as 'baby' 1.4's.
@@marcusbraun8889 The f1.8S primes for Z mount are all better than the F mount f1.4 counterparts. Not only in sharpness but also in colour rendering and contrast. So they're definitely great value. The only F mount lens that can really hold a candle to them is the 28mm f1.4E. Sometimes also the 105 1.4E.
@@tor2919 Agree on the Z 1.8 lenses - and on top of that those two F 1.4 are twice as expensive! I take two 1.8 S lenses over one of those F 1.4 lenses any day...
Omar, in line with the telephoto selection I got the F-mount Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E VR AF-P (released around 2017-2018) and it's light and cheap. Because of it being an AF-P lens the focusing tech is the same than that on the Z lenses and it works fast and accurate on an FTZ adapter; I own a Z6ii and the f1.8 Z S trilogy: 35, 50 and 85 and I can't remember a time when the 70-300mm felt different when focusing...just my 2 cents
I was so amazed to see your work and lighting techniques. Please put up a video on your style of lightings and modifiers you use on your event/client work. Thanks OMAR !!
I'm glad you finally embraced those lenses that store at a smaller than functional size. I love that feature on several of my lenses, even my crazy RF 800 f/11 IS STM does that and it's great! LOL I always enjoy your videos.
That bokeh on the bird 🐦 at the end of that video 🥵🔥🔥👌 hot beautiful stuff... Great work as always Omar... Went from Nikon to Fuji... 😂 But I doubt if I want to go back there just yet. Learning a lot though, 🙂👌
Omar, you’ve got a serious case of GAS! 😂 great choices of lens and the PFs are beautiful. I’ve got the 500pf and it’s fabulously sharp and light for the focal distance. The new 24-120 F4 looks incredible as well and by all accounts is very sharp at all focal lengths.
Love it. You are AMAZING! I am a NIKON user too, but not a Pro. I keep learning from you. Here the list waiting to learn more from you too. Camera setting both photo & video and the editing.Thank you that you re here on youtube
I just got the 24-120 f4 and am very pleased with it. I think I’ll ditch my 24-70 f4. Oh and thanks Omar. You just quashed my need for the 24-70 f2.8 saving me $1000s 😁
Mr. Omar G. aka Mr. Kit Lens (that needs to be clicked open first) Guy. 😉 I spent a long time with FujiFilm then moved to Nikon a couple of years ago. Other than Fuji's UI and tiny lenses, the Nikon's been terrific. I loved your pics with the Fuji's and the Nikon as just as strong. Also, solid TH-cam channel; just as entertaining as it is informative. Take care.
These shots are superb. That is why I love Nikon over the other camera. I started with a Minolta then I was introduced to Nikon. But I noticed in-home office setups I am seeing a lot of mirrorless cameras in their battle stations. Thank you for sharing these lenses.
Very enjoyable video, as usual! The native lenses for the Z-system are really fantastic - the only drawback is that they cost a lot. Except for one, which lately have become my favorite lens when I am with friends and family: The 40mm f2. It is light, small, fast, and quite sharp too - and costs less than 300 USD.
Love your video's Omar, they are very relaxed and humorous and not always too technical. "Why call it S and not a Z lens" ;) But your pictures speak for themselves that you are a pro. Love it.
Nikon shooter here. I heard a lot about the 105mm f1.4, some people compare it to the quality of Z glass. If I didn't have a 85mm 1.8 I would have probably gone for this but it does not make much sense for 20mm extra and 1/3 stop of light to buy this since I am happy with my 85mm. I use DX Z cameras, I am holding off on an FX body purchase to see what Z9 technology will trickle down to the new Z7 or Z6 once they come out.
Maybe you should get the new FTZ adapter and see if that fixes the focusing issue, I heard it does. But yeah the Nikon Z6II has been working very well for me, there's something about it. The biggest thing for me is the grip, its comfortable (unless you are using heavy glass) and the button layout I quite like. I only have the 24-70 f/4, 50 1.8S and the 28 2.8 SE - But I wish I had something longer for certain photos and that's where I struggle. I like the idea of the 300 f/4 PF but I saw how expensive it was and its a bit out of my budget! Haha. So I'm thinking about getting the new FTZ adapter and adapting the newer Tamron 70-200 f/4 VC and see what happens. Great video Omar. I hope to see some winter photography with the Nikon soon!
That 300mm at the end is beaut. It looks sharp as, but those backgrounds are downright vintage. Perfect. I can see why you love that 105, too. and anyone who dismisses having a 50/1.8 in their collection should just hang up their cameras now.
@12:20 😂😂… that moment alone was worth watching this video for. The discussion on the lenses are just a bonus 😂 Dude…. Your videos are packed with information, fun and so much humility. Love your work. Me a Canon RP shooter wondering if I should switch to Nikon or Sony as Canon is way too expensive (and why… oh why did the R6 have to be just 20 megapixels 😤😖) But Canon colours SOOC are so correct that that’s what’s holding me back.
I'm a Canon user but I really love watching stuff other people shoot with. Also, as a motorsports photographer I'm usually way on the other end of focal lenghts - long and longer, though I also love my Samyang fisheye.
I agree with you on the 2.8 24-70. It's a fantastic lens but so heavy . Recently was in Colorado and the hike at Rocky Mountains and other sights was tough. I bought the kit f4 with the Nikon Z6 but sold on Ebay and at times kind of regret it. Your event stuff is great by the way
Hey Omar, just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos (been watching them for years, we bought the XT-20 practically at the same time!), whatever the subject is :) You're a great guy and I very much like your style and humour while being informative at the same time. That's it, just wanted to say that, as I am watching a Nikon Z series (with no intention to switch from my recently-bought EOS R setup) just for the enjoyment and fun to hear your thoughts on them! Keep up the good work and ciao from Italy! :)
Nice lens collection. For my z6 I use the following. I have the z 16-30mm F4, z 35mm 1.8 s, 50mm 1.8g, 85mm 1.8g, 105mm 2.8g macro, and a sigma 70-200mm 2.8 contemporary.
Hi. considering the 105mm 2.8G instead of shelling out for the 105mm Z - but i am very uncertain it. Does it hunt much, and is it as sharp. Would appreciate any input. Regards Gunni Grahn, Denmark
Because I watch TH-cam on my TV I don’t usually comment just press the like button. But your videos are GREAT, I like the way you review gear but then add your own photos of what the gear can do “your photos are amazing by the way”, I love the way the colours POP!!! I’m a Fuji guy myself and just waiting for the XT5 or XH2 to drop in May and see if I stick with Fuji or jump ship. The autofocus needs to be improved or I’m off. Photography is my hobby, not my job. Thanks Omar
Hey Omar, have you tried any of Zeiss' Classic ZF lens line up? I mean the all metal classic lenses. I noticed you appreciate how lenses render things like contrast and colour instead of over emphasis on sharpness and would love to see you review something like the Zeiss 35mm f2 Distagon, 50mm f1.4 Planar or 85mm f1.4 Planar. All manual focus but that can also be nice in certain circumstances. In fact the the manual focus works amazing on Z6ii compared to my old D750/780. And thank you for all the great videos, always a joy to watch 😃
Thanks so much for these videos. After 15yrs shooting pro with Canon, I have sold all my kit to move over to Nikon Z7 mirrorless. I have been struggling with what lenses to get, as my Canon 24-70 f2.8 was an absolute work horse. Still can't decide if I should get the new Nikon S equivalent, as it's as good as the primes, or just get that kit lens and spend more on primes. Your the second vlogger to praise that 105mm f1.4. Maybe that will do instead of an older 70-200mm, which rarely comes out of the bag. Hmm then there's the Sigma Art lenses.
You would like the 24-120mm f4 S lens for events, it’s fine in low light especially with Lightroom noise reduction. Colors pop and stars out light at f9 images quality just as sharp and excellent bokeh except you have more reach. Compact and light. The 105mm F1.4 was E version, correct? All good lenses you have there👍🏻
Excellent Omar thanks for sharing your set/views. I am glad you have moved to Nikon as I have just moved from a series of Nikon dslrs to Z7, and I think your channel has always been good but now it is directly relevant to me so have subscribed. As others have said your photography is excellent- you have a gift for composition which I find tricky at times. Thanks again. Ps I find the z 24-70 f4 that picked up really cheap used amazing…I have hesitated to consider any primes in the 24-70 range, might just continue with old manual Ai mount Nikkors with a cheap z converter for now!📸. Regards Andy
Love the video and your ways of explaining things. My lenses are nearly identical to yours, exceptions 70-200FL version and 58 1.4 beast. LOVE my 105 1.4. Your pictures are fantastic!
Super helpful review. Lot of focal length overlap in your collection, but you made some solid points on why you’re still holding on to some of your duplicate lenses, which I understand. I have a Voigtlander 58mm manual focus, which I love, but to marry with the Z7ii is going to require the purchase of the FTZ adapter, at about $200, which I’m reluctant to invest in. 👍👍
The answer to the question about Z S, Z is the mount, S is the "Superior" nikon lineup of Z glass. I could be wrong but I think it is analog to the gold-ring F glass.
Thanks for the input. Left my Fuji X-H1 for a Nikon Z6 II and intended to go for the holy trinity of 12-24 / 24-70 / 70-200mm and nothing more. So far i ended up with the 14-30mm F/4, 24-70mm F/4, 70-200mm F/2,8 - but had to ad the 50mm F/1.8 and the 85mm F/1.8 Thought of changing the two F/4 lenses for faster ones, but i think you just talked me out of it. So far i also kept my old 85mm AI-S F/1.4 & AI-S 135mm F/2.8 for fun and experimenting. Now i have become more interested in what i can do with the 1.4 as you state that that F/stop is bokeh bokeh bokeh. I am still trying to figure out which lens to chose for macro photography. Again, thanx for a fun AND informative video
I enjoyed the video. Your images are wonderful . I have had the 24-120mm f4 S line since December. It has effectively replaced my 24-70 f4. Great lens. The 20mm 1.8 S lens is incredible as well. It could easily replace what your old Sony glass used to give you. The advantage that I have is being a Nikon user for a very long time. I often still use AIS manual focus lenses, adapted, as well as many F mount options. When I want character, simetimes those old lenses are the ticket. I have deliberately kept my Z system light, knowing that I can use my high speed F zooms, if needed. However, two F lenses you highlighted are definitely still on my wish list….the 105mm f1.4 and the 300mm. Dreamy stuff!
Hi Omar ! Awesome video. You always make me laugh with . I am using both camera systems, Nikon & Fuji. I like the the Fuji, because of its small factor. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! I mainly shoot with a Nikon d7200 but tried a Fuji Xt3 but it didn't quite give me the rich colors I was use to from my Nikon and I didn't want to jump on the Sony bandwagon. The z6 was missing things I needed but since the z6ii came out and after the lastest update I'm now ready to go to get my Nikon mirrorless camera!
So great that the 105m 1.4 still gets so much love in 2022. :D I know you love the Sigma 50mm 1.4, but if you want similiar character like the 105mm 1.4... you gotta try the 58mm 1.4
In my opinion the AF-S 105E is one of the most amazing lenses ever created by any lensmaker (including Leica and Zeiss). It just renders such lovely images.
The 105mm 1.4e was so tempting that I finally pulled the trigger and bought a used one in great condition from a Japanese seller on eBay recently! I haven’t shot any real photos with it yet but admire that lens every day. LOL. Everything is so perfect with it!
Ok, really interesting. I had thought you had bought the 70-200 because I remembered you loved it when you had it on loan, but definitely the 105 makes sense, and the 300 seems like a cool choice. I have the 70-200 and the 2x TC which on a crop body comes out to 600mm 5.6, so the same as your setup, but yours was probably lighter and cheaper to get the same quality! I kinda feel you on the 50mms and 24-70mms… I just picked up the 1.2 S and the 2.8 S respectively, and man, they are huge! I had the Nikon 50 1.4G which is small and beautiful but is not so well behaved with fringing like your Sigma Art; and I started with the 24-70 f4 and already knew it worked really well for me most of the time. I guess I just fell into the trap of thinking, I really ought to be using the “pro” glass, so I need to buy the 1.2 or the 2.8. I could possibly see myself selling one or both although there is no doubt they are awesome lenses. And finally, speaking of amazing, heavy lenses, I also love my Sigma 28 1.4! Not enough people seem to know about it, or even the idea of shooting wide lenses wide open. Maybe a video idea in there somewhere?
hello Omar, thank you for all you do in this chanel. I am wondering if I could use my old Nikon lenses (80-200 2.8 G) on the new Fuji XH-2 with an adapter. I shoot only landscpes with slow speed and don't need any AF-C mode ... Any advice could be very useful for me. Will show you beautiful landscapes from France 😎
First off, super cool photos! I use the 50mm 1.8 S with my Z5 and love it, it’s an awesome lens. Will probably get the 24-70 f4 but I don’t know if I’d get any other due to their price and size. Although that 14-30 looks awesome too… jeez you’re tempting purchases, Omar! 😂
Indeed! Long focal lengths like this make for great portraits. Just watch out as too much ‘compression’ can be almost as bad, in certain instances. Almost like using a wide angle can be on the opposite scale. Sports Illustrated shooters often use 300-400 mm focal lengths for the swimsuit stuff. 👍✌🏻📷😊
As always you got it managed to be entertainingand informative - that's why I like your channel. Could you please make a video about your current Fujifilm camera and lens lineup?
Do you have any video tutorials on using on camera flash with your Nikon cameras? It looks so good on the dance floor! I shoot with the Z6ii and the 24mm 1.8 S lens for the wedding dances.
I feel you about adapting certain lenses and balance. I prefer native z mount lenses on the z6 for that reason. The FX mount lenses with the FTZ can feel clunky when swapping between them. If you want an ultra convenient walk around lens check out the Nikon 24-200 z mount. Its one of my favs. I replaced my previous 70-200 2.8 as its just about good enough for most situations outdoors.
I've been watching your videos for some time now and I am always amazed by how you find that absolutely beautiful light for those portraits. Other that that, very nice videos. I viewed some of them multiple times, I admit :)). They helped me a lot and they're funny too :)) Btw, I own two D750s and 20 1.8g, 50 1.8g and 85 1.8g but today I ordered my first Z6 II with the Z 50 1.8S as it's Black Friday Pro in Ro. Can't wait to grab those and try them out.
Love your work Omar!! I have Nikon (D850) that I can't part with plus a Fuji Xpro3 with several fast primes. I tend to use the Fuji most of time but love the Nikon!! Also recently purchased a Nikon F5 film camera which I'm enjoying!!
Hey 😊 Would you pick the Sigma 70-200mm sport with the ftz adapter or the Nikon Z 70-200mm. I'm struggling to decide, between these two and there aren't a lot of great reviews on this. Would be great if you got the chance to make this video's 😅
"I don't know why they don't call them Z lenses?" [1:50] The F-mount has been around for over 6 decades, and the Z-mount is likely to also be around for decades. The lens series, though, change every decade or two. For example, your 50mm f/1.8G lens was preceded by the 50mm f/1.8D lens. The D-series lenses gave distance information to the camera which could be used for better flash metering. The G-series lenses removed the aperture ring. The E-series lenses changed from a mechanical linkage to set the aperture to an electromagnetic system. With the Z-mount, there are currently the S-series and the -series, which are basically the "kit" lenses. Within a decade there could easily be another lens series, even if we cannot think of what would make it different right now.
I thought having the fuji's 50mm f2 and the 56mm f1.2 was too much, but after watching your video I'll get the 50mm f1.0 hehehe!!! Great photos as usual!!!
I have both the 24-70 f4 and the 2.8. I tend to put the f4 lens for shooting family holidays or snapshots . It is very light and if I don't need wider than f4 it is great. I kept it even after getting the 2.8 :)
I just sat down to check people's views on adapting Sigma Art lenses to Z-mount. Little did I know that I was going to see you praising so MANY of my favourite lenses ... including the 105 f/1.4E AND the 300mm PF!! I feel so validated ... rofl :)
Hey Omar, Love your videos as always! You have that carefree vibe and the joy you have in photography is all that matters. I own a Z6 ii and do mostly event photography and videos. Haven't had a change to get a hold of the new Tamron 35-150 f2.8 lens but I am very much on the fence thinking if I should cross over to Sony and get this all in one lens. I wanted to get your thoughts and see if you had a chance of test out the Tamron lens on the Z cameras? I do have the Megadap adapter as well so that's an option I was thinking as well.
price to performance ratio, af and especially the lens selection from sigma and tamron are good points ins favor of sony! (I bought a nikon z6 a few days ago, but if I had more money I would`ve probably bought the sony a7 IV.) your nikon z6 II has probably slightly better ergonomics, a better evf, a better display, (maybe you would miss the top display?) and some lenses like the 14-30 f4 have a very good price to performance ratio. Another reason I bought the z6, is because I heard the af got way better because of the fw update 3.4 . your nikon z6II can also get a few fw updates in the future- but I would never trust a company with software that`s not already on the device. (Fujifilm was amazing with fw updates in the past, and nikon a few months ago had great fw updates like fujifilm in the past.)
Hey @omar, love the vids! I'm heading off to Morocco for some gorgeous photography walks through medinas.... is my 24-70 and 50mm prime gonna be enough for me, or do I splurge on the 14-30? What's the no-brainer here? thanks in advance!
I will always be a Nikon fan boy, to me Nikon has the best color profile and produces the most pleasing images that I have to tweak the least, they come out of the camer😢almost ready to enjoy which I appreciate.
If you think the Z 24-70mm f2.8 S is front heavy you should try the Z 50mm f1.2 S. 😅 It’s on my camera 90% of the time. The MB-N11 battery grip helps make it more manageable.
Dude, your portraits and event photography is so inspiring! Your pics are so sharp, makes me want to go out and take more pictures!
Thanks so much 😁👍🏼
Right? This channel has a very non-serious vibe… but unlike most TH-camrs his photos are actually awesome!
Amazing work
@@ogonzilla watching this 2 years later, i diagnose you with NAS. Nikon Acquisition Syndrome. It will only get worse and you will soon find yourself with a noct
Omar went down the Nikon rabbit hole HARD and he's loving it. You're also capturing a lot of fun at the events you're covering, great work.
Was the criticism due to lenses being large
I went from Fuji to Nikon and I love both brands. Don’t know why but it looks like most people using one of these brands seem to love or value both.
Ditto here
Same here. Loves Fujifilm and still miss some things, but I feel Nikon gives me something Fujifilm couldn't give me.
@@shmuelaryehkoltov241 that’s why I went to Nikon as well. Ideally if the budget allows in the future I want to keep both systems as I can’t do without one of them.
Same here!
The F3HP is a legend.
Now you’re talking Joshua! 👍✌🏻📷
I have the 105mm F2.5 AIS lens. Fantastic lens. Saving up to get a full frame Z camera to mount it on. Currently mounted on my D600.
You are such a nice warm person I love the way your videos make us feel welcome. So thank you for that
Thomas Heaton just did a review/discussion of the 24-70 f/4 vs the 24-70 f/2.8 lens.
My wife uses the Z6 with the 24-70 f/4 and the 50mm f/1.8G as you mentioned for her portrait work. It seems to work out perfect for her.
How does she find the grip size? Is it uncomfortably large and heavy? I'm guessing not or she wouldn't be using it. Just curious.
@@danielschmaderer Thanks!
This is what I did 🤭and its the best decision I made in a LONG time.
Lovely images, Omar. Glad the Nikon system is working out for you. Interesting times we live in!
Followed you when I was a Fuji X-T- 3 owner and just went back to Nikon with a Z 5 . You are always fun and informative to watch.Your event work is stellar - nice to see Bar-Bat Mitzvah events. Your street photography is inspiring and most bring out a big "wow" from me.
thanks man!!
How you find the Z5????? I have an XT2 and I'm thinking about it, or a used Z6. Can't decide!
They offer a more cinematic rendering that suits my style and vision.
well said. :)
Cinematic is a good point. That is the reason why I am using the Leica M system with Leitz glass, the Nikon F system with Nikkors and a Zeiss lens and the Hasselblad H system.
I'm increasingly becoming an Omar Fan! Your TH-cam videos are as smooth as a Nikons z prime lens on a Z7II! Great work buddy!
The Nikon Z lens line up is just amazing. I love everything about the f1.8 S line prime lenses.
It would be AWESOME if you tried these lenses:
the 58mm F0.95 Noct (aka the best lens ever made),
the 58mm 1.4G (the king of mojo)
the 28mm 1.4E
You are really good at capturing emotion, Omar. And I do like that.
You are incredibly funny, I got so much joy out of watching your videos! 17 minutes video feels like a blast!
Those two b&w shots at 06’05 are sick! Incredible. Presumably they were taken with the 28-70 f/2.8.
Omar, thanks a lot. Amazing info and shots. Still, the shot at 7:22 blew my mind. so crisp and nice. Thanks for sharing!
Maybe your best video so far. I have not bought into the Z mount yet. But you definately tickled something. Great job.
Just bought the 28-75 2.8 😍 really love it. Just came over to Nikon Z6II from D750.. I’m stubborn love all things vintage but I love this camera!!!
Good choice with the 300mm PF, Omar. It's a great small lens 👌 Love it.
I'm glad you finally embraced those lenses that store at a smaller than functional size. I love that feature on several of my lenses, even my crazy RF 800 f/11 IS STM does that and it's great! LOL I always enjoy your videos.
I just bought a Zf and a 24-70 f/4. I'm still in the "I hate the locking lens" stage.
Very informative video. I appreciate your honesty.
That bokeh on the bird 🐦 at the end of that video 🥵🔥🔥👌 hot beautiful stuff... Great work as always Omar... Went from Nikon to Fuji... 😂 But I doubt if I want to go back there just yet. Learning a lot though, 🙂👌
Thank you. Took that this morning and it shocked me how nice. Glad it came through on YT.
Great choice on the 300 PF, I just acquired one myself. I love the lens it is fantastic; it is sharp and very handy to put in the bag.
Oh my, your photos are stunning!!! Made me want to pick up my camera and work on my photography again! Thank you for that!
Loved watching you Omar over the last two years…but as a Fuji person. No problem at all with the Nikon stuff now. Good luck!
I spent a long time with FujiFilm then moved to Nikon a couple of years ago. Other than Fuji's UI and tiny lenses, the Nikon's been terrific. I loved your pics with the Fuji's and the Nikon as just as strong. Also, solid TH-cam channel; just as entertaining as it is informative. Take care.
Fuji user here. Absolutely adores the images coming from the Nikon Z. In the perfect world, I would buy them all….
I'm interested in getting that one. I've got the 50 1.8g so i don't know if i really need it.
The contrast and tonality on those Nikon files is extraordinary. Great lighting and editing, I'm sure, but also a nice start point too. ✌️
That 105f1.4 is a monster! The 300pf rips me apart, to go same way like you, including teleconverter, or 100-400s, on my z7II.
@12:20 😂😂… that moment alone was worth watching this video for. The discussion on the lenses are just a bonus 😂
Dude….
Great content. Just a small correction the DX mode on Z7/II will give you a 20.9 MP image :). I love the versatility Z7II offers!
Gonna have to buy that new 28-75 2.8 lens. Mine is shipping now..
Hope it's awesome.
Omar enjoyed your comments. Totally agree about thee 105 and 300. Both are superior lenses. best regards.
Grazie seniore!
So glad your a Nikon guy now!!! Love your videos thank you😀
Nice lens collection.

Omar your one of the few TH-cam photographer who can take excellent images! Excellent images bro. Get the z9 you won't regret its a Voodoo camera.
Thanks Omar
Beautiful colours and pictures ! Nikon files are awesome 😎
Regards Andy
thanks for the kind words. Colors and image quality are A+
Love the video and your ways of explaining things.
4:21 The excitement in their faces is priceless...
So far i ended up with the 14-30mm F/4, 24-70mm F/4, 70-200mm F/2,8 - but had to ad the 50mm F/1.8 and the 85mm F/1.8
Thought of changing the two F/4 lenses for faster ones, but i think you just talked me out of it.
I know you love the Sigma 50mm 1.4, but if you want similiar character like the 105mm 1.4... you gotta try the 58mm 1.4
Maybe a video idea in there somewhere?
hello Omar,
thank you for all you do in this chanel.
The 300 f4 takes the sickest portraits. The compression is insane.
Thanks,i like the music, the photography and narration... watching from Nairobi, Kenya.
I found a Fujifilm x100v in stock and got it and can’t wait!!
The F5 is one of the best SLRs ever made after the F2. I still love to shoot the digital ones made by Kodak from time to time. Keep enjoying it.
Hey 😊
Would you pick the Sigma 70-200mm sport with the ftz adapter or the Nikon Z 70-200mm.
I'm struggling to decide, between these two and there aren't a lot of great reviews on this.
Would be great if you got the chance to make this video's 😅
Fantastic photos, Omar.
You really enjoy the Z7? Am thinking about taking the plunge. Currently use a Z6ii.
"I don't know why they don't call them Z lenses?" [1:50]
The F-mount has been around for over 6 decades, and the Z-mount is likely to also be around for decades.
I feel so validated ... rofl :)
105 is LEGENDARY
Oh, and if you already have a few lenses for your nikon, you could still wait for the nikon z6 III.
Hey @omar, love the vids! I'm heading off to Morocco for some gorgeous photography walks through medinas.... is my 24-70 and 50mm prime gonna be enough for me, or do I splurge on the 14-30? What's the no-brainer here? thanks in advance!
I also like the Nikon 105mm f1.4, it’s great!
Excellent video Omar, What kind of lighting do you use in event?
Your photos are amazing man, great video….Love ❤️from 🇮🇳 India
Hi Omar, I am interested how you set up the lightning at your reception dance floors? Thanks so much, Johannes
It’s on my camera 90% of the time. The MB-N11 battery grip helps make it more manageable.
My Canon EF 85 f/1.2 L II (36.2 oz) + adapter is just as bad as my Z 50 f/1.2 S (38.4 oz). 🙂
