Diego, I have to say your videos have been amazing. I found your channel a few weeks ago and haven't stopped watching them since. I live vicariously through you until this spring when I take my first bikepacking trip. I hear you say all the time "why are you not out riding all these amazing places?" And I ask myself the same. So stoked to do this! Keep up the great trips and great videos! 👍
Thank you and I hope you get to go out there on a tour. It’s a lot of fun. Can you share with me how you were able to watch an episode that I haven’t yet made public? Thanks.
I saw your post on fb. This is nuts lol I wish I had done this when I lived in the states. The lack of bike infrastructure in the south put me off from trying, but drivers were watching out for you like those good ol' truckers, which is encouraging.
No doubt there is a lack of infrastructure in these southeastern states but it is totally doable. With that said, there are always dangers you have to be willing to take when bike touring using roadways. My channel attempts to show what to expect and how to manage with any circumstance out there. Please be careful.
The shipping infrastructure, the ships, the factories make an intriguing landscape of their own. I wouldn't be attracted to it per se in particular because of the smells coming from the refineries. However I am planning to go to Germany and ride in the Ruhr area. There is an expansive bike route network using lots of former rail roads throughout this historic mining and steel making area. Many mines are now depleted and closed. Several of them are museums now. Look for towns like Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg, Bochum. But if you go there stay off the Autobahn. Unless you want to experience an encounter with the police. Great video in an area I wouldn't normally consider for bike touring.
Beautiful weather to ride. Despite the busy highway you seem to really enjoy it. Actually, this is my kind of ride too it's busy but I kind of like it.😅
Hey you!! I missed you last week. 😢 Don’t do that again!! Hahaha I always look forward to your video on Saturday mornings. 😊 Oooh boy. This was a noisy video! Traffic doesn’t particularly bother me BUT, it does still generate internal stress! I certainly don’t CHOOSE it; sometimes ya just have to do what ya have to do ❤️ your show!!
That is for sure, you gotta get in that traffic at times to get somewhere. Thanks for saying that about my channel and I hope to keep up with the weekly episodes but now that Im back to working it might be tough to not skip a week here and there. Be safe out there.
Thank you very much. Im committed to grow my channel and try my best to progress the quality of my content. I wish I could devote more time and funds to it but that will hopefully come in due time. Thank you for watching.
Bro, how awesome. What a day. You inspire and motivate. Never fails to make my day. I’ve been following u now for a while and really enjoy your style and narration with details.
That's really kind of you to say, thank you. I love this process and Im always trying to improve and progress at it all. Loving cycling is a the heart of it all.
Well once again you and I have rode same trail although not exactly same loc. MRT is my go to when I ride to downtown STL and then along the river. Also did a day ride a while ago in NE MO! Loved this episode Diego! Well done and you seemed to be enjoying yourself. Great tune last towards the end too!! Thanks for helping me get through knee surgery!!
Another great upload. When you plan a ride do you make your plan based on miles per day that you want to accomplish or do you just pick the place to get to and go? Any particular speed you're to reach?
When you are touring one-directionally you take into account the wind and elevations up and down to decide what destination(s) to choose from. Most times there is one specific end point but I always try to see the options if there are some. Maybe I get somewhere sooner then expected and I go further or cut a day short elsewhere if I have reasons why I slowed down such as detours due to road work, an unforeseen stop at lets say Telladega Speedway for instance, or a rain storm that held me up. Speed is not a concern at all but getting "there" before dark is so I hurry up to do so if I need to.
Thanks for that information. You're the first person who has ever explained to me the thought process behind their planning. Very much appreciated. @@FlyscoutRyder
Great video as usual Diego! You rode right thru my area in this video. I ride the levee often and sometimes take the Plaquemine Ferry across the river to ride the other side.
I wanted to go across the river but the bicycle issues I dealt with while in New Orleans kept me from doing it. I just couldn't spend more time there. If I go back I will definitely take the ferry over.
Yeah that was a bit hectic to get to New Orleans. I was really close to getting hit about three times while riding in the city. Needless to say I was looking to get back to the westward cycling into Arkansas. Still some sketchy situations ahead, though.
I heard from other bikers the roads in LA are bad and I guess they were telling the truth. All those trucks and bad shoulders are giving me bike touring PTSD. [ just Like Vermont and Indiana ] I want to bike the Miss River from Illinois this summer and I think I'll stop at Memphis.
Riding along the Mississippi should be a blast for you. I have friends that have done it and they had a ball. I've only crossed it twice but never been along side it. I have ridden along the Missouri and that was really special. Take care,
rumble strips on the right side and no edge? Welcome to Mississippi. At least most people here will get over for you and give you some space. The other 10% of drivers here are just assholes.

The Ruhr area sounds interesting, I will take a look. Thank you. Be safe out there.
Ahhh….two words a biker loves to hear: “Tail Wind!” (Among others) 😊 Glad to see you enjoyed Cajun Country!
"Tail Wind" I sure love it. Thank you for watching.
Hey, I stayed with that WS host in 2019. She had an outdoor shower, pole barn with her bikes, a bunkhouse and good stories. Love your choice of music.
She was a sweetheart. I highly recommend anyone to stay with her. Thanks for reaching out and for watching this episode.

Hi Thomas. I'm pretty sure you and I share the same love for traffic, lol. These three days getting to New Orleans from Natchez were a blast.

Ah, once again Diego you captured my focused attention. This was a fantastic account of a grand adventure. ❤🎉😅. I celebrate your determination. Thanks
Thank you, Verlin. Always great to get your 👍🏼
Too bad we can't turn our bikes into cars when need be 😅
What a great adventure so far. Thank you so much for the videos. -8 here tonight. Take care, Al
Hi Al. Glad to hear you are still enjoying the content.,
Awesome video Diego. Thanks for doing this for all of us viewers who wish we could be there with you.
You are welcome and thank you for saying this. The whole process and experiences make it so worth while.
Found you looking for vids from Muskegon, MI area. Now I'm catching up on all of them. Great job!
Thank you for checking out the channel and reaching out.

Awesome ride man, thanks for sharing🫡
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hopefully you stayed in the big easy for a while, and partied hard! What a city!
No heavy partying but I did have a few beers here and there and I did eat in some outstanding food joints. They have unreal food there.

I'm a little disappointed you didn't party as much as I would have, but I'm happy that you ate as much as I would have! Lol

Great video as usual Diego! Interesting scenery and journey into New Orleans. Crazy traffic at times though. Looking forward to more! 👍👌

Nice one 👍
Cool video! Going by that famous river. But those highways look horrible.
Those are difficulty routes to do but well worth it once you get to the MRT. New Orleans is especially a "must be hyper focused" city to ride in.
I usually bike on louisiana roads. A lot of people are scared or intimidated by it but it's not so bad to me. But I've done it for a long time.
Agreed. Not bad at all.
I thought about doing this, but it was too scary for me!
There are some difficult sections.
riding from natchez trace to New Orleans is risky, people in the south will run you down. Nice video, cheers.
Yeah, that was a stretch to pay attention on. The levy section was well worth it. The Mississippi River is outstanding.
awesome!! dude!!
Thank you
Is it true downtown New Orleans smells mostly of vomit and urine Iv been told this by several people
Not true.

Too good. I had a great time cycling in Mississippi and you are right about most drivers' kindness

Hi Mark. Great to hear from you. Yeah this was a fun ride and it is a blast to ride the levy on The Mississippi River Trail.
Actually Roads and industry do not make me want to finish last 500 miles of my own trip
i would recommend a rail trail or maybe going out west or north like Utah and S. Dakota. Plenty of beautiful endless safe miles there. Keep us posted
