I agree on almost all your suggestions but there is something that must be said: usb cables have no impact on sound whatsoever - they just pass digital data. No need to buy fancy usb cable. I’ve seen recording studios with $10k monitors, hi-end preamps and consoles and pretty inexpensive but solid Mogami signal cables AND basic USB cables. Speaker cables, signal cables matters. USB, optical - they don’t as long as they are well built and cost no more than few bucks.
@@alexkane84 and you certainly can hear that, do you? Supra ply 3.4 is one of the worst speaker cables i have ever heard. Very unnatural sound with very bad stereo image. The sound was leaning towards the left speaker - unbalanced stereo image......!!!
I have a CD player with RCA, Optical and Coax out options. I wanted to use the single Coax to get the signal to the Amp. Can I build a single Belden 8402 cable to connect it? If so, should I ground both ends or have it be directional? Basically, would I build it the same as your DIY Belden video? I didn't know if the process was different for single audio coax out or if I needed to use actual coax cable instead of the speaker wire method.

Hi Tharbamar, very interesting and usefull stuff, as usual. I have a pair of Mogami 2549 xlr to xlr that is being used between my chord hugo TT2 dac and the Acoustic Eenergy AE1 active speakers. While I'm happy overall with them I tend to find the cables a little bit too cold, thin, bright sounding, lacking some warmth in the midrange, in my system. I want to buy either the Belden 8402 xlrs or the Canare L 4ES6's to give it a try. The problem is that the Belden would cost me two times and a half more than the Canare. Do you think tat I should be ok with the Canare or the Belden is the better choice? Thanks
Will I hear the difference using canare 4s11 speaker cable over the no name 10awg ofc cable I usually use in a 7ft run?, I'm interested in trying a new cable to drag out more bass details in my system.
You have a link for AES/EBU cable and that is all Mogami 3080. I believe the cable I purchased for this was Mogami W3103. Are either sufficient for AES?
I have used the Mogami quad for interconnects and find it very good, especially for the phono stage to amp pair - I haven’t tried the Belden yet. The Mogami was at least as good as low/mid priced AudioQuest and WireWorld pair that I tried. I did use the Belden speaker cable and really liked it. Then I tried the WireWorld Mini Eclipse silver and to my ears it was significantly better than the Belden, so I bought an 8 ft pair for the main system.
Love the Belden 9497. They just sound right in my system. Decided to try the comparable Belden 8470. Definetly more airy and emphasis on highs, sounds more transparent, but the bass is suffering. Not the mid bass, but the lower frequencies. In your experience, will the sound characteristics change with burn in? Will i get my bass back?

Updating my comment below, I have about 20-30 hours on the Jib Baobab HDMI Cable, it has improved substantially & at this point (I suspect another 50 hrs will improve performance more) is as good or better than my existing Cable. In my System this is a good recommendation....
I really enjoy your equipment reviews and like the channel a lot. However, cables make no audible difference in sound quality, whatsoever, unless you have one that is faulty. It is pure snake oil. Same with power cables, and conditioners. It's total nonsense.
Yes. You can measure them with basic equipment. There is no measurable difference in them that is even close to audible to the human ear. The noise and distortion levels are so low it's completely inaudible. The difference between $1000 cable and a $20 cable is so close to zero it's laughable. See any number of measurements on AudioScienceReview or Audioholics. The differences you're hearing are confirmation bias and placebo effects. If you don't believe me try a blind study and have your wife swap the cables to see if you can tell.
@P Gansz, Measurements don't tell the whole story, what about guitar strings or violin string or microphone that record them? every musician knows there is the different in sound by minor changes but would you care for measurements of those, probably not if you know good sound. So basically you are saying pro studios where they record your favorite music uses snake oil cables? please try to visit George Lucas ranch(Skywalker) if you have chance, I don't think anyone from ASR or AH is respectable as sound engineers from Skysound studio.
@@Tharbamar Thanks for the reply. You cannot discredit electrical engineers with hearsay. However, I also agree measurements are not everything. But, there is powerful snake oil here. The entire point of an amplifier's power transformer is to "condition" the power feeding the amp. Conditioning power before a power transformer is tantamount to suggesting your multiple thousand dollar purchase does not perform as intended. It's highly redundant and not necessary. I know it can be difficult to admit, but just try a blind listening test with cable swaps. You will surprise yourself. Confirmation bias with a new purchase for your hobby is very high - that's not news! 🙂 Really enjoy your reviews, thanks again!

For example in old amps the transformer, the caps, the wiring, switches, potmeters were good or high quality from cheap to expencive. If so, should I ground both ends or have it be directional? Basically, would I build it the same as your DIY Belden video? I didn't know if the process was different for single audio coax out or if I needed to use actual coax cable instead of the speaker wire method.
These cables are not designed for COAX cables, please check with Blue Jean cables for custom cables.
Mogami 2549 is the best interconnect cable I’ve used. Very neutral sound signature.
Thanks! I made a similar version of your power cables, really like them , Thanks 👍
How about RCA subwoofer cables for the LFE signal from an AVR?
I like Blue Jeans cables, thanks
Hi! Belden 8402 xlrs or Canare L 4ES6 for electronic music? My setup: Roon Rock - R26 Gustard _ XLR _ Hegel H390 - Monitor Audio Gold 100.
I would go with L-4E6S personally if I have similar setup, thanks
Que pensez-vous des wharfedale evo 4.2 je les ai associés avec mon denon pma 2500ne en bi-cablage
It will be very good paring.
@@Tharbamar merci beaucoup
Have you ever tried van damme up-lcofc hi-fi speaker cable? If so, how does it compare to some of the cables you have mentioned? Thanks
Great vid with excellent info as always. I always enjoy them. Well done.
Absolutely wonderful advice Tharbamar, I have so much respect for your channel and your honest opinions.
I was wondering what your opinion was on the Belden 5000UP speaker cable?
I have not tried them yet, will do when I need new wires, thanks
Hi @Tharbamar. Have you ever compared 4s11 and 2s11 ? There is an opinion that the 2s11 is more transparent.
Hoping to hear your thoughts on belden 8473 I got a 1000' roll for free it was sitting around the shop and my boss gave it to me
It should be very good speaker cables.
Definitely will be buying Mogami cables, any clue where they sell Mogami cables in Canada?
I would check on eBay first.
@@Tharbamar I will try but can it be trusted
Yes look for reputable sellers.
Have you experienced Supra Cables? Heard good things about them
I may have some Supra RCA cables somewhere but it's been awhile, thanks
Any of these cables may have a chance against qed revelation? Have qeds already but id change as now i driver beafier speakers and changing the Amp for something more powerful. Qeds are 1.5mm so a small cable
May I ask that you look up Tempo Electric Silver cables.
With their concept and my observed listening, how can a cable sound better than this absolute basic and simplest form of cable engineering?
Yes did check them out it seems very nice, personally I like silver cables between my turntable and phono section, thanks
@@Tharbamar
I appreciate you checking them out.
Great video and nice Sony hapz1
For you is better an ofc or occ cable? I have to buy a new speaker cable and I don't know id is a better buy a Sommer Quadra Blue (ofc) or an oehlbach xxl fusion 2 (occ). Thanks as always
My favorite is OCC cable.
But the canare 4s11 is occ ?
@El_white_horse No. Canare 4S11 is not OCC or OFC
Hi! I would like to know which way to go as far as connection is concern to get the best sound quality from a balanced cable. Is it XLR cable male/female with 1/4 TRS female adapter or XLR female to 1/4 TRS as one cable (without the adapter)? Does it make any difference as far as sound quality? Thanks.
One cable will have better performance than using it with adapter but most of the case there may not be major noticeable in sound. Thanks
rrr perfect timing for this video
Are canare 4s11 and mogami w3104 OCC wires ?
They are not OCC wires.
It is a bit confusing then. You mentioned OCC method in the beginning but talk about non OCC wires further. I thought you would recommend some OCC wires.
Why Belden 8402 over Canare 4S11?
Not one over another, I use them all depending on paring.
The best cable is the one that makes your buddy go wow.
Especially when you say was only $ 1000 ........American......per inch.
I use 6 meters of cable off my welder.
Thanks
"that"
I would suggest you to try L4ES6, Belden 8402 may not suit your set up in synergy department, thanks
Thank you
those belden 9497 do i have to use a banana plug or can i just plug em straight in?
Yes you can connect directly to the posts. Thanks
Will I hear the difference using canare 4s11 speaker cable over the no name 10awg ofc cable I usually use in a 7ft run?, I'm interested in trying a new cable to drag out more bass details in my system.
Hi
What kind of cables for phono innterconnect.?
You have a link for AES/EBU cable and that is all Mogami 3080. I believe the cable I purchased for this was Mogami W3103. Are either sufficient for AES?
My bad, I checked, it is Mogami W3080. Thanks
Mogami 3080 is very good choice for AES cable, thanks
I have used the Mogami quad for interconnects and find it very good, especially for the phono stage to amp pair - I haven’t tried the Belden yet. The Mogami was at least as good as low/mid priced AudioQuest and WireWorld pair that I tried. I did use the Belden speaker cable and really liked it. Then I tried the WireWorld Mini Eclipse silver and to my ears it was significantly better than the Belden, so I bought an 8 ft pair for the main system.
WW cables are very good.
@@Tharbamar The WW speaker cable smoked an AQ that cost $300 more.
@@PanAmStyle Thanks for the info.
May be if you do the quad wire set up, I use two of 9497(four wires) on each side, I have a few clips of them in this video, thanks
@@Tharbamar Appreciate you! thanks for the great suggestion. I'll try that. What banana plugs are you using on the 9497? Are they soddered or bare? I use bare wire right now and htink bananas would be good idea.
I’m using audioquest banana plugs amzn.to/3JZG2jE

Hi! I want to thank you for all knowledge you shared with us with you TH-cam chamek. You are amazing, honest person. I made Canare 4s11 speaker cable after your video tutorial - wow just amazing cable. Now i want to make RCA after seeing your videos. Can you give me a little advice? In my country belden 8402 is almost 3x more expensive thank mogami 2534… Is it worth to add more money and get belden? :) I Have really bright system and belden warmth sounds amazing. Thank you again!
2534 is great choice, If there’s big difference in the price I would go with 2534 or 2549, thanks
Ok! Thank you! Do you prefer 2549 over 2534? And i Have one more question If i can? When using 2549 do you use japanese method as well - both ends ground connected to shield/screen? Thank you
Excellent, very helpful. Thank you Sir! 👍
Cables does make a difference at least from my own experience. I trust my ears. I don't care what other people think.
So how much was your turntable (because if it was less than £6000 then I would agree with you). Above that price the difference is immense.
If your cables sound so good, you don't need speakers.😂
Good to know, thanks for the tip.
Excellent Video my friend. DIY your own ends and buy the good stuff in Bulk !
Thanks 👍
Genuine OCC copper still improves a lot.
Honestly, I'm perfectly happy with 10 or 12 ga. OFC speaker cable. I am very skeptical of esoteric, expensive, outrageously expensive, cable. So much snake oil. I run live sound and I will say that Belden and Mogami cable is top notch.
Love the cable videos. Keep up the great work! Thank you!
Thanks
What a info? Love it… Thanks..ss…🙏
Pls.tell the difference between the 2534&2549 in terms of sound .Thx.
2549 is more accurate and transparent, 2534 highs are slightly rolled off, thanks
They both sound exactly the same. To say a cable makes the sound more transparent or has rolled off highs is complete hogwash.
@D2kno, Nah.
@@Tharbamar Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, not just “Trust me Bro”
I recommend cables with copper wire. The end. Amir showed differences of expensive cables (sometimes worse) are inaudible).
Great advice
Updating my comment below, I have about 20-30 hours on the Jib Baobab HDMI Cable, it has improved substantially & at this point (I suspect another 50 hrs will improve performance more) is as good or better than my existing Cable. In my System this is a good recommendation....
thank you!

Hi sir
Where you sir
I really enjoy your equipment reviews and like the channel a lot. However, cables make no audible difference in sound quality, whatsoever, unless you have one that is faulty. It is pure snake oil. Same with power cables, and conditioners. It's total nonsense.
pro audio cables are snake oil too?
Really enjoy your reviews, thanks again!
Hi! I like your videos but in cable misery it is just a subjective opinion.
In the golden age of hi-fi (retro) just began the cable misery but if You had a good source, a good amp and loudspeakers connected with basic, ordinary cables-the system was perfect.
The problem is that-in our time the quality of audio components - what is good or "premium" - in the golden age was ordenary. For example in old amps the transformer, the caps, the wiring, switches, potmeters were good or high quality from cheap to expencive.
Now the cheap is plastic shit-You can try on any cables not will be better. The mid range is almost that what was basic in old times. And the better or best quality? You cannot buy on that price but if Yes-the cables will be the cheapest part of the system 😎🤔
Canare and Mogami sound cheap and bad. Both brands had muddy, cloudy sound.
Say that to your favorite musicians and recording.
@@Tharbamar that's why many recordings sound bad, because they use mogami and canare cables......
I don't understand why someone who pays thousands in a hi fi system would buy the cheapest cables to connect it. Unless mogami and canare have high priced, high end models that i don't know about......
@@Jil8840 ... YOU quite obviously do not know much about anything audio related ... you think that high priced equals high quality ... you utter tool 😂🤣😅
