We need the backstory on Vander and Silco, I need to know why Vander tried to kill him so viscously. I know Silco does a lot of terrible things, but when it comes to Vander and wanting vengeance, I mean I don’t blame him, if someone tried to drown me and then fucks up half my face that leaves me in constant pain, I’d hate them and want them to pay as well. 🧐
Seems like we already know what their conflict was about. Silco was gready he believed that aim justifies means while Vander didn't. I think their conflict is the same as Jinx&Vi.
Yes! I totally would watch about whole genesis of revolution and story of best friends turned mortal enemies. Thinghs were obviously pretty intense back then.
If I had to guess, it was because Silco was ready to cause more violent unrest in the undercity to start a revolution and after seeing the losses and getting attached to Vi&Powpow and his little band of orphans Vander couldn't let it happen again. Silco was ready so sacrifice everything he cares about for a better life, Vander decided to endure the status quo to keep the people he cares about safe. And after some consideration and Silco probably repeatedly pushing the issue and hinting that if the kids are standing in the way he will have to clear it Vander probably decided to sacrifice the one to keep the many safe which as we all know backfired spectacularly. The part that gets me is that before Silco made up his mind to kill Vandor in ep3 he still tried to convince Vander to change sides and Vander just reiterated defeatedly that what is most important to him right now are the kids. Even after Vander tried to kill him and he only barely escaped with his life Silco still wanted him back, wanted their relationship back, even though he ultimately decided that in the great scheme of things that is also something he is willing to sacrifice for change. He did not kill Vander for revenge or because he's evil, he killed his brother because he knew that as long as he lives he will get in the way of his plans and slow down his progress. And it's so funny to me that Vander was willing to kill one part of his family to (probably preemptively) protect the other, but Silco (despite knowing his brother is a threat to himself and the cause he is willing to kill and die for) let his brother live for so long probably hoping he'd change his mind and I rarely see people point out just how many allowances Silco seems to have made for the brother who tried to murder him until his plans progressed to a point where he couldn't wait for Vander to come to his senses and choose him anymore. I mean fucking hell his brother tried to drown him and Silco still tried to WIN HIM BACK OVER to his cause. I just can't imagine that Silco was the one who started the physical part of the altercation that started in that drowning incident/attempted murder. Silco wants his brother on his side and he wants it bad and Vi and Powder don't seem to be afraid of him or have any memory of a traumatic event involving him, so Silco probably didn't attack them giving Vander the excuse of defending against immediate danger. Though I can imagine Silco verbally threatening the kids and Vander, knowing his brother not to mess around with his threats, taking that seriously and acting before Silco can plan anything and put it into action. Because Silco is fucking smart and if he wants it to look like an accident let's be honest he probably could.Either that Or Silco was trying to organize another riot that would have put many innocent lives at danger and maybe even led to Piltover sending in enforcers to purge all potentially rebellious elements. Either way, I am most certain that what sealed Vanders decision to kill his brother were words, not immediate actions, plans that Silco shared too openly with someone from the opposition he thought he could still trust. The fact that nobody was there to help Silco when Vander tried to drown him and Vander was the only one holding Silco under feels a little suspicious, making me think that might not have been a spur of the moment thing but planned out. The water is toxic, Vi and the gang don't even want to get in it to try and retrieve their valuable haul from it, yet somehow they are out there alone in the water? Why? Maybe because Vander thought another corpse floating face-down in the water wasn't as suspicious as his easily identifiable corpse on land and less likely to be retrieved from the toxic water, hence it would be less likely for him to get blamed for the death of Silco who seems to have a large following of revolutionaries? The 'water' would have probably eroded the corpse enough to be unrecognizable before the disappearance of the seeming Silco would have thrown up major red flags and his followers organized a real search. My money is on Vander made up his mind that Silco was too dangerous and lured his brother out to a secluded place near the water under the pretence of something to do with reconciliation and seeing his point and but being unsure knowing how much Silco wanted Vander back on his side and Silco, attached to his brother and trusting him swallowed that shit hook line and sinker, making the betrayal he felt when Vander (being mach bigger and stronger) grabbed him by the throat and dragged him into the water all the worse. Or well, at least that is what I imagine. It would make sense to me. Especially that Vander might have weaponized their relationship to lure him into a deathtrap. Silco seems to rarely attach to people but when he does so he dedicates himself almost completely (unhealthy so) as seen in Jinx. I can't see many other reasons why someone as clever as Silco would meet Vander alone in a remote location after they made it clear that their ideologies were no longer the same and that Vander could and would not support Silco's goals going forward. It would also explain to me why Silco only Vander to join him again in the shimmer mill and in a life or death situation that had him at the clear advantage and why he did not seek him out sooner despite clearly still having a soft spot for his brother and hoping for reunion. The last time they tried this his brother used their connection to try and murder him, this time Silco can see himself as the comparatively better person by giving his brother the choice between reunion which would save his life at the cost of many others he cares about or certain death which would also lead to the death of those Vander cares about. Silco clearly thought he finally set himself up for success and to still be rejected, to see Vander choose death over Silco... That must have stung. However, ever the professional crimelord Silco put that aside, did not show weakness in front of his brother who once again rejected him most cruelly or his people who he must have total control over and resolved to get rid of all that would/could dross him, now and in the future. Probably tried to cut his own emotions on the matter off too (even though he clearly must have felt something only moments ago to offer the man who tried to kill him to fucking JOIN him). And wouldn't you know, his brother is cold for barely more than a minute and Silco emotionally attaches to the first person who hugs him. Someone who truly needs him this time, someone who can't leave him because they have nobody else, someone he can form, someone who can understand him better than his brother did, someone just for himself. Only for him to turn into Vander and become a person who would sacrifice his own life and dreams for someone else. Funny how that turned out. Yeah. Anyway: TLDR, I don't think Silco killed Vander out of Vengeance, he could have gotten his vengeance anytime throughout the years while VI and Pow grew up but he held back for some reason. However, with the near completion and success of shimmer Silco's plans were about to progress to a point where Vander who had a LOT of influence in the undercity could have messed up all of Silco's plans if he was left alive. So Silco waited to the last possible moment to abduct Vander and have him the choice between life and death (both would result in all vander currently cared about being as risk/dying) because he still cared about his brother and wanted to reunite even after Vader tried to kill him so he tried to force the issue and set himself up for success and Vander still chose death over Silco. So Silco, hurt and betrayed once again, went through with his worst case scenario and decided to eliminate all the people left who are string and have influence (and could have in the future like Vi who is a lot like his brother, a reliable leader). The killings weren't vengeance, he did not enjoy it, there was no mustache-twirling and maniacal laughter, no emotional speech of that's what you get for betraying me, you tried to destroy me and what I live for now I destroy you and what you live for or anything. The situation was unfortunate for Silco, he lost his brother and he going to lose capable people who would have been good resources for his cause so he has to deal with them. NBot because he is spiteful but out of necessity. After all, Silco is from the underground where there is "never enough to go around". Waste not. I mean just look at the situation Silco set up and the conditions he made his offer under. He holds all the cards, and Vander stands to lose everything but if he joins up with Silco his chances are better. Because if he rejects it Silco WILL go after his kids when they are in his way and there will be nobody left to protect them, he cleverly set this up, and STILL his brother rejected him. Killing Vander was a regrettable preventative measure but at that point a necessity to protect what is most important to him, a free Zaun. And I assume It was the same for Vander when he tried to kill Silco (because Arcane likes to set up emotional parrallells like that), a regrettable but ultimately necessary preventative measure to protect what is most important to him, the lives of people who deserve better.
Holy shit, sorry I'm only now seeing how long that got. I only watched Arcane a few days ago and I'm still totally hung up on all the drama and the well written characters. Yikes. Sorry.
@@Gnorkadork I agree with you, although I thought the fight with silco happened before Vander found the girls 🤔 cause in the flashbacks he looked a lot younger and no beard whereas he looked older when he found the girls. I still agree with you that it was probably silco being too radical in his dream for independence that pushed Vander but I’m not sure if the kids were involved at the time
Silco is a man who inspires to be better; to be more. But at the same time, he doesn't forget where he comes from!
I am so attracted to Silco that its ridiculous! I just love him so much!
He's a good looking man lol
@@DigitalChef_91 What you do if Silco walked into a room?...Me...I am going to the Undercity!
