My 13 year old son and I met Bill Farmer at a comic con in Colo Spgs a couple months back and it was an incredible experience. My son is an aspiring voice actor and we paid for a short experience at Bill's table on a slow morning. Over the course of the next 25 minutes, Bill and my son did impressions, talked strategy, traded notes, looked at pictures, swapped stories and laughed. For an experience that was meant to last a minute or two, Bill gave us all the time in the world and was generous, thoughtful and kind. Those minutes will turn into family legend and will help motivate this kid to be a voice actor like his idol Bill.
I'm wondering when they inevitably have to replace him if they'll end up hiring someone with his accent, or just someone who can imitate it well. I had no idea Goofy even had an actual accent until I listed to this. It makes sense now objectively, but as a kid you're just like, oh, that's goofy, as no one else sounds like him. Well, apparently he sounds like Bill.
4:24 Gonna be honest, I have always preferred "Dad Goofy" from the Goofy Movies instead of "Idiot Goofy" from the new cartoons. "Dad Goofy" was still comedic and funny in a slapstick kind of way, but his relationship with Max and Pete made him feel like a character and not a like a clueless punching bag.
I mean Goofy in the original cartoons was a very silly. While I think both have there place I would say goof troop goofy was more like many other cartoons of the time a kid version of a sitcom Dad. (Which again is totally awesome! - I'm just saying it's not so much a departure for Goofy to be a bit dum)
I met Bill Farmer last year and he was one of the nicest people. He came in for a talk at my university and, though he didn't have to, he stayed afterward to meet everyone and take pictures. He even did the goofy voice for a few people's voicemails. Really solid dude.
Bill Farmer is a true Disney Legend (got inducted with Tony Anselmo in 2009 in there). I love hearing his interviews and after hearing his normal speaking voice, he just makes his voice sound more cartoonish which is why he’s been very good at the role for almost 36 years.

You know what’s wild to me about this is that I was introduced to Bill Farmer through hearing him on Amphibia (he played Hop Pop). I love that he does both voices.
I have his autograph on a goofy figure, grew up hearing his voice in my household, legend, sidenote ive gone on this ride with my children, it was fantastic, classic disney
Jace Diehl's videos are stunning. Cutting, guests, topics,... but for first time a have something wrong what I want to write. When he talked about easter egg, I hoped that I will see its, but nothing. :/ Pity, but it is still amazing video! Great job! :)
Goofy will always be my favorite! I have a pin and a poster of A Goofy Movie autographed by him. I also do the voice of Goofy on my school bus to amuse the children. I must be good enough because they recognize him right away!!
I swear to you Bill Farmer is my favorite human!!! How do you just casually get to talk to all these people. I would melt if I ever got to meet the man who voiced my favorite Disney character lol
The "new" voice of goofy, let's be honest, this IS goofy. He really made the character his own. Sure before him we got things like "how to", which are absolute treasures, don't get me wrong. But the amount of goofy content we've gotten since he took on the role far outmatches the content we've gotten before that. I honesty can't imagine modern day goofy without Bill Farmer.
Bill Farmer has been doing Goofy since 1987 so a lot of the content involves his voice. Similar to how Tony Anselmo has been doing Donald Duck since 1985 (1984 if you go by his cameo in the 50 year special). It’s just the voice I’ve always been used to with Goofy. I do like Pinto Colvig too.
My favorite character has always been goofy. My brothers has said new Disney has been ruined and they don't like it. This is so enjoyable to see them honor there roots. My mom put me on the spot to sound like goofy in one of the shows. I was like no. Ha, ha.

What show is that with Mickey goofy and Donald where they showed goofy looking ugly and smelly? Looks good. Kinda reminded me of SpongeBob close up ultra detailed scenes
I grew up with Goof Troop. I love it now but as a kid it reminded me it was time to go to school. It would of been different if it was an after school thing. A goofy movie and part 2 I love.
He started working at Disney as an animator in 1980. I still think he does animation for Disney projects. He was very friendly with Clarence Nash. They worked together on the Donald Duck voice. It wasn’t until the end in which Tony found out Clarence was retiring from the role due to leukemia and was planning to pass the role to him. I believe Tony does recite Little Boy Blue in Donald Duck’s voice in the 50 year special in 1984. It was almost Clarence’s way of passing on the torch to a new actor. Of course Clarence Nash died in 1985 and that’s when Tony took over full time and has been doing it ever since. As long as Tony stays healthy I think he may do the role for about 50 years cause he’s only 62.
David here from Florida I been a Disney fan for over fifty years, And the new ride looks fun!, but why change the look of the look of the classic characters? Is it just me, am I old fashioned? Please let me know here thanks 😊
iam noticing just now that he has a similar voice to charles martinet the voice of Mario. Just a little deeper and with an american acent. I bet he'd do a great impression of Super mario.
Bill’s natural voice is basically Goofy when the cameras are off.
Lol 😂

Appreciate what he brings to Goofy, and seems like a swell guy who is proud of his craft. Also, the Goofy Movie version of Goofy is still so iconic.

AAAHHH, HOO, HOO, HOO, HOOEY!!!
What's great about Bill is that being Goofy is hardly acting for him. The voice is practically there at all times, and he's naturally a goofy guy.

The real reason why Goofy has a southern accent is because Bill Farmer was living in Texas at the time, when he auditioned for the role.
