    Hey I just happen to find this video on TH-cam. It's amazing because I lived exactly in the neighborhood you showed in the video. The shops and food stands you showed are exactly where I had my meals everyday. I've been away from Nanjing quite a while already, your video makes me so missing there. Great show, thanks from Germany.

    3:32 is that Callaloo or Pak Choi? Not sure if she is asking for the name of the item her chopsticks were in? I was not sure either. It looks more like callaloo though.

    • @LaurenWithoutFear
      @LaurenWithoutFear  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's some kind of traditional cold Chinese appetizer. It tasted pickled. I can't remember what they call it but I was told once before!

    Hey! Welcome to Nanjing! My favorite "spot" in Nanjing is an area (a quite big area) where the main campuses of Nanjing Normal University, Hohai University, and Nanjing University locate in. These three campuses are very near from each other and all have quite long histories. It takes about 10 mins walking from NanjingU to NNU. I remember the old campus of NNU was really beautiful and quite with many old buildings and big trees there. There are some little "hills" on the campus which makes walking there even more fun! (I am not sure how the campus look like now, haha) You guys have fun in Nanjing! :D

    • @LaurenWithoutFear
      @LaurenWithoutFear  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the NNU campus! It's so gorgeous and full of old trees, big buildings :) I've explored NU as well, but not Hohai U! So many colleges in Nanjing - haha

    Big Auto lobbying is not the reason America remains uncommitted to passenger rail infrastructure. Lack of consumer demand is the reason. China and Europe are far more densely populated than the US, so commuting by rail is efficient and popularly demanded there. Most US counties are too sparsely populated for passenger rail development to be feasible. There are a handful of American conurbations where regional rail transport investment could theoretically pencil out over the long run, but due to reckless monetary policy and soaring public debt all over the country, even in these places major capital investments are prohibitively costly -- and that's not counting the decades' worth of compounding debt service that future generations will be paying on those projects. A $150 million venture in China would cost in the billions in the US after adjusting for purchasing power parity. Look at California's "high speed rail" debacle and you'll see that there's a whole lot more going on than lobbying.

      @rtgtx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Cavitt Most of the Americans rarely travel out of the town they live so yes there is low demand. However lacking of affordable,convenient and fast mid-to-long distance passenger transportation may the reason behind the low mobility in US. What a pity.
