TIMESTAMPS FOR SPIDERS/ARACHNIDS 1:18 -> 1:28 Several, animated (intro) 6:05 -> 6:10 One, real (a solifugid digging) 6:15 -> 7:06 Several, animated (two spiders, and two solifugids) 8:50 -> 9:23 One, animated, but only if you are in the camp that horseshoe crabs are arachnids 9:24 -> 11:03 Several, animated (one spider, one scorpion, one solifugid, one ricinuleid) 11:04 -> 11:32 One, animated, but only if you are in the camp that horseshoe crabs are arachnids As a spider scientist (and the science consultant for CCZoo), I love these wonderful animals, but I realize that being startled by a spider can be scary (even if you like them!). An important part of overcoming arachnophobia is building positive interactions with arachnids on /your/ terms, so hopefully this helps some of y'all do so and enjoy the videos.
Personally, I hope it will be in the arachnids, because that'd be really cool! But I dont know enough about genetics to analyze the evidence on either side (I mostly study behavior).
I thought the same thing for a long time, especially with how it's spelled. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense with the way it's spelled. "Zo-ology," not "Zoo-ology." There are only two letter O's, and we can't just pretend the -ology part isn't there, so... yeah. I practically live in the biology department at my school, and all of the professors there pronounce it the way it's being pronounced in the video

Love the milotic reference!!
Lmao
I too am secretly trying to evolve into a crab
😄👍
Feebas and melotic analogy was just amazing.
I like how pokémon evolution is better at describing metamorphosis than actually describing evolution
This course is the first that I've kept up with as it comes out. Thank you for making such engaging and informative videos.
I looove Rae! There's been a host of epic host on these channels - she's absolutely one of my favourites! 😙 Loads of love from Denmark ❤️ 🤗
Outstanding survey. I think you just turned on a huge number of people to study biological sciences. The production and talent was excellent.
As soon as she started talking about within-lifetime phylogenetic mysteries, I literally yelled at my screen "EEL BABIES!"
The mystery of turtle evolution just blows my mind. We have so little certainty that they could plausibly be closer related to mammals than reptiles.
That is the one hypothesis that got thrown out a while ago! These are just the 6 that have been proposed over time.
Oh wow, a Homestar Runner reference in the wild with Fhqwhgads
I've never been so proud to be a taxonomist in my life.. Rae, you are radiant
Science is always about proving itself wrong and I simply love it for that.
This course just keeps getting better ✨
0:22 nice Animal Crossing reference
I always look forward to these videos

WHATS A MAn GOTTA DO...
Can I get some eel DI-
I'm curious about the horseshoe crab, which group do you think it will belong to?
Personally, I hope it will be in the arachnids, because that'd be really cool! But I dont know enough about genetics to analyze the evidence on either side (I mostly study behavior).
I just realized the fhqwhgads reference is probably for the parents watching with their kids.
My back hurts.
Love the Uno reverse cards!
+1
Awesome video! It was super interesting and well presented. Love this channel!
Now I know that being a scientist is playing UNO all the time.
That would be a bit of fun
Whoa! You spelled "Fhqwhgads" right!
Great video, and great throwback reference!
I am not a zoology student but damn, this video is in such a way, it even get me interested

**insert that Sam O Nella Sigmund Freud scene**
WHAT’S A BROTHA GOTTA DO TO GET SOME EEL #%^*
I am enjoying the series
This is my favorite episode so far. Tks
The horseshoe crab debacle is a rollercoaster lmao
Huh, funny enough, found out about the eels on a podcast just yesterday.
Love the video 💖 Thank you.
Brilliant.
love the angler fish reference
Love y’all!!!!!
Just chiming in to acknowledge the fhqwhgads reference. Everybody to the limit!
#1 summer jam
thermites are roaches! what the i didn't even know that
Fascinating
Nice vid as always

Where my Homestar Runner fans at?
Everybody to the limit! The Cheat is to the limit! Everybody come on Fhqwhgads!
I'm phylogenetically challenged.
I know you'll be here Morgan
Wait everything wants to be a crab?
I mean i'm down. Seems fun... Just wasnt aware.
Beavis and Daria
I could see zoologists spending more time arguing over classification than doing actual science!
scientific classification is *the* thing a zoologist does... mostly ;-)
Arguing over the classification (if done with evidence) *is* real science!
"arguing" over classification is still science. They still use a lot of statistics and analysis to determine the classification of organisms
I find it extremely odd that this video didn't focus on the Deep-sea Angler Fish and it's sexual differences. Now to go listen to the song again...
Don't worry, I can take it plainly spoken.
Uno No U Horseshoe
That can’t be how zoology is pronounced ... can it???
Both pronunciations are accepted! (Im pretty sure I say it the way you are used to)
