Great casting for Valya Harkonnen, both as young and as the Reverend Mother. The actresses are as talented as quite similar. Kinda reminds me of Rhaenyra Targaryen's casting as teenager and adult
Emily Watson supremacy ❤️🔥 so happy for her, I’ve been following her career for a while and to see her in such a huge production makes me proud and emotional 🎉
Tbh I had pretty low expectations for this to match up with the movies, but the first episode has me intrigued. Love the casting and also to see female writers and directors etc, that was certainly felt very positively in the episode. More of that please! Only wish Kasha had more time in the story, what an interesting character. Absolutely love the Harkonnen sisters and their complicated dynamics! I only wonder why they chose to deviate from the movie design in regards to the Harkonnen when otherwise it seems to lean on the other designs. All in all, exciting cast and so far cool writing and directing!
I hope I can look forward to seeing more of Jessica Bardem, young Valya. I think the first time I saw her was in Penny Dreadful, in a much different part. There’s something depressing in having a “recurring character / actress” that pops up for a bare 8 minutes of one episode.
It is both worrisome and quite striking that both the Actors and The Producers rationalize psychopathic behavior in the protagonist Valya! It is not some kind of 'stress response' for people to murder their colleagues to say nothing of total ruthlessness in relationship to their opponents in order to consolidate their influence and power - it is at the core of psychopathy. It reminds me of the comments of Theresa Russell years ago about the character that she plays, a Russian spy on The Americans. She did not understand that what she was doing was in fact psychopathic. This is part of the general and frankly very worrisome blindness that we have to psychopathy and I wonder if it's a fatal flaw because we keep appointing Psychopaths to positions of leadership. What could possibly go wrong?
I like how the blood flows down the stairs and then the next shot is of the green mass going from the women training down to the pool. Kinda showing that wherever these women are blood will pollute
SPOILERS: I kind of hope they don't introduce the concept of gholas in this show. That would ruin the element of surprise of Duncan Idaho returning in the next Denis Villeneuve film. Also, Desmond Hart looks a lot like Duncan too, lol.
Why would he be a ghola? They weren't even a thing for 10,000 years after these events, and created by the super secret Bene Tleilax, not the Ixians. They didn't even get good at it for more like 13,000 years after
I loveee thiss, it has soo much potential, but im nitpicking here that the editing doesnt really hit on the dream scenes or when valya use the voice, but overall great film and everything, hoping for much
Ngl, I was super lost watching this. I think trying to connect this to 10,000 years in the future puts a hamper on the possibilities the writers could do with the story
I've read some comments, turning off after 5mins, it's like a CW show etc... If you had stayed and watched it all, it turns into a fairly good opening episode, be it a little different from the films sure, but I'm in for the series duration now, a big thumbs up from me 😁👍
It’s been an impressive start, the production is absolutely insane. It’s t all feels very real and palpable. The cast is terrific as well. Very excited for the next few weeks ❤
A show no one asked for and has terrible quality for HBO. I’m wondering why all I see is praise online and no one liking or even talking about it. The money for this show should’ve been given to more qualified passionate filmmakers.
Tell us you never read any of the books, including the prequel one this show is loosely based on, without saying so. After they whomped the robots they put the brakes on scientific development including the requisite computer technology necessary to build a nav computer capable of calculating a safe interstellar jump.
@blackjac5000 The writers have already admitted to completely making up most of the story and only loosely adapting elements (like taking names and some plot points) from some of the worst books in the Dune canon.
Desmond hart (travis fimmel) 🔥🔥🔥 So intriguing! Hope we will see this character grow and climb to the top! The first Kwisatz Haderach? If it is, that will bring a fresh turn to the story ✨👍👍👍👍 let's go i'm in! 1rst episode is fire 🔥
@aegnor2102 It's worse. Because the Acolyte was concocted up by modern day Kool aid hairs. This show had plenty of canon to work with and decided to ignore it and deliver more modern day influenced slop.
@TCO_404 No. It isn't. Bene Gesserit were never a bunch of kung fu girl boss warriors. Also, Brian Herbert isn't Christopher Tolkien. His additions to the canon are pretty garbage.
@@HeWasRight1488the BG always had the weirding way and prana-bindu, which among many other things gave them those hand-to-hand combat skills. In fact, those BG skills became a huge part of the Fremen's fighting style as well under Paul's leadership.

Thank you Max for this incredible birthday present for me, this humble Dune fan is extremely happy with this beautiful production ❤️
Happy Birthday
Congratulations
Happy birthday!
Great first episode. Looking forward to seeing where this goes
From penguin to dune ❤

One of the best new shows to end 2024
Political intrigue, conniving, drama. I love it all
very good show, has the Dune meditative vibe but it's entertaining, and the music and visuals are superb

There are more flashbacks down the line!
There was a weeks-to-come trailer where they show scenes of her back on Lankiveil.
Im intrigued it feel like it hard to pack vast mythology in the pilot episode but, they did a good job.
Desmond’s pyrokinesis smellsvof Ixian fuckery. I just know it.

My boy Desmond has to be a Ghola sent by the Ixians 😏
Interesting that the actress playing Kasha says she’s fixated on Desmond’s eyes. Just like Hayt’s eyes that captivated Paul and Alia so much.
