One of, if not, the finest movie I have ever seen. Due, to a great extent to the superb illustration of Mozart's genius by Sir Neville Mariner's rendering of his music.

How brilliant was F Murray Abraham as Salieri in Amadeus? If i had to choose one performance, BY ANY ACTOR, as the finest in cinematic histiry, this would be it. Flashing back and forth in every scene from idolatry to bitter hatred. Questioning why an obscene, giggling little "creature" should be god's instrument on earth. That is a feeling common to most of us. We witness these supremely gifted individuals that never realize that to whom much is given, much is expected. That is at the core of this incredible film. As the elder Salieri, Abraham takes it to an unfathomable level. Poignant, funny and tragic. All at the same time. The irony is that Salieri was regarded as a great teacher in his time. His knowledge of music was vast. Some of his students included Beethoven and Mozart himself!! The closing scene in Amadeus may be the finest ever filmed. "I will speak for you father. I speak for all mediocrities in the world. I am their champion. I am their patron saint." UNREAL. Waving as he is wheeled away to everyone in the asylum. "Mediocrities everywhere i absolve you. I absolve you." The greatest lesson in this film is that we are all essentially flawed. And the greatest absolution is the absolution we owe to ourselves. A lesson Salieri omitted to himself.
@@vladimirazubcekova7727Okay, I see your point. I was speaking about Salieri, not the Movie. But from my own point of view (which is the only point of view I can represent) I could not hum a Salieri tune if my life depended on it -- I've listened to a lot of it, but I've never heard anything catchy. Furthermore, I think the movie (and the play on which the movie is based) in fact revived interest in Salieri's work, not the opposite you suggest. The movie spurred great popular curiosity in Salieri. Finally, about the movie: it is also a piece of art. Shakespeare's "Richard III" is widely panned by scholars as a tainted historical narrative, but it stands alone and importantly as a compelling fiction, and fountainhead of cultural value. Amadeus too is fictitious, but simultaneously appealing and intrigues people to discover not only the works of Mozart and Salieri, but classical music, period costume and art and architecture, and even film and playwriting themselves. It is a vital film, which happens to be fictitious.

An absolute tour de force, both the movie and acting. Just a gem that rekindled broad interest in not only classical music but also period movies. Shame that Tom Hulce didn't receive an Oscar for his efforts, but Abraham's Salieri was as fine a performance I've ever seen - again and again.
Hoooo..... Qué hermosa instrumentación. Qué notas más finas. El Alma se regosija y se desprende lentamente del cuerpo,. Hasta flotar en el espacio.😊❤❤😮
Most people have a film or several films "of their lives". I do too, of course, but I also have another category : "the film scenes of my life." This is one of them. "On the page it looked nothing. The beginning simple, almost comic. Just a pulse. Bassoons and basset horns, like a rusty squeezebox. And then suddenly, high above it, an oboe. A single note, hanging there, unwavering. Until a clarinet took over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey! This was a music I'd never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing, it had me trembling. It seemed to me that I was hearing the voice of God."
É fato que a Academy Awards dá umas belas escorregadas quando laurea o Oscar de Melhor Ator Mas F. Murray Abraham fez umas das melhores atuações da história do cinema. Seria Antonio Salieri assim mesmo?
praise god, the alpha and the omega, the infinite in power, the creator and director of life and light, our celestial father who has been here before us and will be after after, the master of the day of judgment, the only good one, the god of Abraham, the god of Moses, the god of Jesus the messiah, the god of us, the god of the worlds, the god of the universe.. the all, praise you god that lives for ever and ever, Amen, Oscar Maldonado
Mr. Salieri, you hated God because he gave a coarse man named Mozart a tremendous gift, while he appointed a mediocrity to you. Alas, your gift of narrating so dramatically and effectively was also a gift...and yet you were unaware, and unappreciative. A shame. (yes, i do know this was just a movie). Let's all be thankful for our own gifts, and not compare with others.
One of the greatest movies ever.
Best actors for their parts.
History was made............again !
Thank you Mozart.

Music from the best ,calm me down and give joy.
This is a brilliant scene, it really does example the brilliance of Mozart and his genius

Exquisite bit of acting on the part of the aging Salieri who despite his agonized envy must recognize genius when he hears it
Do you mean F Murray Abraham?😂
F. M. Abraham is representing Salieri @@andrewashdown3541
Abraham's, performance was BRILLIANT.
It’s makeup and a wig. He wasn’t that old when this was filmed

Salieri was an amazing composer. his music is energetic, striking and lively. great talent.
Yeah, okay, but there is music that is remembered for literal centuries also.
