Some pairs had significantly better leather than others
One thing that I noticed stops the glitter effect is to take it out of the box and it won't come back. Works for me

Dope vid. I think your downplaying the bred toe tho. In my opinion it ranks among the the best. The quality is outstanding.
It’s good but it’s not exceptional compared to others. I’m actually taken back on how successful it was and how well resell shot up soon after release. I don’t think anyone expected that given the visual of the foot site maps.

The black toes jordan wore had the black tongue while the black toes released in the public in 85 had the white tongue if I recall.

Like I stated before these reviews on the bred toes are subjective. I purchased two pairs. One at ftl and one at fta both size 9.5. The One for Footaction was like your typical Jordan bred, royals quality as of late. Now the one from footlocker omg! It was straight like Freddy Krueger’s face lol. Super plush super tumbled leather. When I pressed into the leather it was like mashed potatoes super soft lol. My pair from fta was stiffer and was a lot less tumbled than the other pair. It’s just blows my mind how Inconsistent the materials are on these shoes. Some pairs have only plush side panels some only toe box and some like myself got very lucky and have the uppers, side panels and toe box that super plush soft extra wrinkled leather. I wish all pairs of the bred toes came like that one pair I got from ftl. Just very odd on Jordan brands part.

The only shoe I’m missing from my collection that I really want now is the Chicago 1. Hopefully someday I’ll get em. That 2015 one is so good.

Pockets hurt but I was able to scoop em after holding back all of January releases. They’re worth it and last a good while.

Copped from a reseller on release day. Sent my wife to track a pair down for retail on the info that they were widely availible. She froze out there for nothing in her UGGs 🤣. I was at work. I am sure the shadows will be similar in units.
I just wanted to say that the bred toe 1s are REAL leather no synthetics at all. If you read the sticker on the insole it will say "All Leather" aposed to a leather/synthetic on say the sails and some other pairs. It may still not be the heighest quality of leather but it is certainly real.

I won several pairs from the weberstown mall shoe palace but happened to let my little brother and my good friend get the extra pairs and just got one for myself. I plan on doubling up if I can maybe get another pair for a decent price. the leather quality on the pair I got was very nice and i’m hyped for them.

Wrinkles in leather doesn’t mean quality, it’s just preference. If you like a smooth leather such as on Chicago’s or if you like that tumbled texture such as on a pair of shattered backboards (which look more better with creases) but both have good quality leather.

Yo so you know I did a sole swap using the all black yin Yang's to do a royal custom last year. I have worn them continually for a year now. No glitter because i used acetone to do the sole swaps and have no glitter issues. I'd confirm and say its the varnish that is causing the stripper ass sweat look on the black areas of the leather

You the only other person that has ever said that about the real og black toes. I like the black tongue verison better. Guess maybe for the 35th anniversary 2020? I think the bred toes are my new favorite 1s. Idk I love wearing my banned 1s from the outlet to much hate not being open minded. To me it's like the perfect colorblocking "Bred toes". Also wondering if the air jordan 3 is getting a premium/ pinnacle verisons this year. And if one day we will get pinnacle 1s OG colorways .

hey quick question, idk if you'll respond but did you ever wear your shattered backboards 2.0? I bought a pair on stockx and looking at your review i noticed that my pair has the same creasing on the tongue as yours. Literally the exact same.
Never wore them. A lot of these sneakers may have the same type of stamping on the material. A good way to determine is to look at other pairs listed and see if they match up similarly.
those old love 1s look pretty darn close to the black toes mj was wearing idk but the cut looks like a mid in that picture from what i see.

I use leather lotion by kiwi works great just apply and wipe off after 30 min.
Mink oil works for me🙏🏾 plus mink oil also prevents your jordan 1s from cracking after years
Quality wise these are most similar to the 2016 bred 1’s. You should have pulled those out instead of the 2011 banned
Thought the 2016 was ever more plush. I've done a grip of comparisons between the AJ 1s. I wanted to show some older differences.
That glitter stuff makes me mad I have it on both my DS pairs of bred 1s & royals 1 on all the black parts I get it off with water but it always comes back. I wish there was a permanent solution

Still looking, nice collection by the way, I have more 1s in my collection than any other retro J, but never wear them, I don't know why, maybe I don't want to mess them up!

To get the “glitter” off all you do is condition it with Vaseline.. let it sit for a few hours and wipe it off
It appears and reappears only on the black leather of various AJ 1s created during the middle of this decade. I’m most certain it’s a chemical reaction of the coating they sprayed over the leathers which causes a reaction in due time. If it was mold it wouldn’t affect every single pair of 1s ever produced on the market. The biggest driver of mold is moisture and unless every single container was dunked in water before it made it’s way to the mainland, then I’ll say that’s the issue. It only happens on 1s. No other sneaker has been reported.

JuggaloSupreme the average consumer of goods is not going to take their sweet time to perfectly paint match the color. Trust me. Nike just needs to come out with their version of the black toe 1 and be done with it.

Dude I woke up at 5 and left the house by 6. I waited in line and for 2 hours and the line did not live at all! Then when 8 hit the line moved but everyone was leaving and the stupid lady said. Sorry we don’t have any pairs left. I stormed like a bat out of hell. No one copped only the assholes who skipped to the front.

Try silica gel packs for the glitter problem. Just leave a couple in each shoe box.
Silica packs dry out the leather pulls moisture. I don't have any of those issues. I removed silica packs from my sneakers more than 10 years ago. They aren't good.

@@mjo23dan I have 3 pairs of DS Bred aka "Banned" 1s where one has this glittering on the black leather areas, whereas the other two where I had decided to remove the box and paper are in pristine condition with no glittering.
The glitter is inevitable. Look at other colorways during that era with black leather.
@@mjo23dan Before we continue, I love the fact that you are as enthusiastic as me when it comes to shoes lol. However, all of the Jordan 1s that I have - and I have a pretty extensive collection - which have no "paper" surrounded to them - have no glittering issues, whereas the ones that are kept with the paper do have that issue. I am a sneaker collector and sneaker entrepreneur with a pretty decent amount of inventory.
As do I but people that have brought this to attention have also used methods of storage such as yours including climate controlled rooms, no sunlight, silica packs, no silica packs, paper, no paper, etc. If you have not been affected yet, you eventually will especially if you keep DS. The conclusion that has been brought up time and time again is the use of black leather the brand had used during those years. Case closed.
