I don’t really have a problem about the genre definitions you gave but I think Ian’s idm sounding music is closer to the more chill and lofi sound of hyperpop that artists like aldn, Quinn, and glaive. Great video! I just think it’s a little more accurate way to describe it
I think the main issue is, Ian like others before him come into rap seeking to piggy back off the genre, get what they need then rebrand and disavow rap saying "that was never me" i.e. Post Malone etc and that's probably ly why people have issues with him. He looks how he does and is essentially only cosplaying for now till he gathers what he can and makes a mockery of it later. It's a very tired formula and too predictable at this point to not notice
Lol you wouldn’t say this about any other race. Post Malone doesn’t control the music he puts out his label does. There’s nothing wrong with versatility even Yeat has made country and rock songs
@@bwc-chvdhe wasn’t with a label when White iverson dropped. The whole reason he became popular (outside of having a good song) was the idea of this white kid rap singing with gold grills and braids. Much like yeat his appeal came from the sound and aesthetic he used from the black artists around him (outside of weilnd) like autumn, summrs, izaya, septembersrich etc
My thing is that almost all of us, no matter the race, have had rap and hip-hop playing at EVERY corner. I'm 28 years old. Even before we had cellphones and internet as a kid, we'd watch MTV at home for music and I was obviously exposed to rap/hip-hop, as were all my friends. Rap/hip-hop is treated as an exclusively "African" genre and white artists are gaslit about that music NOT being their culture even though all of us grew up SURROUNDED by this music. What do you expect? Are you guys really surprised that white kids want to make music similar to what was pushed on them in their entire process of development? If you want to stop white artists making rap/hip-hop, then you'll have to remove the entire influence that those genres have on American culture.
i def didnt mean to say that white people cant rap lol. im white and i rap. was just tryna talk about the unique ways that white rappers go about promoting themselves in a neutral tone
You should do a video on cash Cobain and on how we came a long way in music, especially producing. With Dunk Contest and Fisherrr going viral, ppl need to know his come up.
Cool video dude. I’ve heard about this guy a lot recently, never heard his music though. Might have to check him out.For the record, Yeat is real dope. He’s definitely different from what I listen to in HipHop. And Jack Harlow got bangers , not gonna lie.

This is so true. Regardless of race he barely passes as original. I wish he couldve uses his talents to blow up instead
@@bwc-chvdLabels white washed rock and roll sooo… that is Jerry Lee Lewis’ entire career. This is older than rap.
I really hope Ian doesn't go that path of abandoning ur sound and treating rap as lesser once you blow up
THIS IS WHY HES THE GOATTTTTT!!! HE GIVES US WHAT HE PEOPLE NEED!!!!!!!
Checked him out because of this video, he sounds every other typical Opium/rage beat rapper
i feel u on that but he got some bars off on that song
Ian gentrified my neighborhood and im white
