The fact that Igon's patched-together gear is clearly scavenged shows that he was a nobody who became a somebody via Dragon Communion, and his gear cobbled together from dragon bones and whatnot show that scavenger mindset, using everything you can find to your own advantage. And he clearly was doing well at the whole Dragon Communion thing, until he went after Bayle of course. I’m sure it’s been brought up before, but Bayle the Dread is likely a reference to Balerion the Black Dread from George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire.
Once you learn or figure out Igon's whole backstory, that line "Behold a true Drake Warrior. And I, Igon" hits so much harder. Igon sees himself in the Tarnished, a better version. He sees strength in them that he never had. They inspired him to, in his own way, pick himself up and keep moving forward in order to achieve his goal. Rest in peace, brother Igon. May thy harpoons forever fly true.
Igon is BY FAR my favorite character in the DLC. Any time I find myself having to describe my dislike of something I now think back to him for inspiration. And no I don’t think directly quoting Ahab would’ve been too on the nose, I don’t think there’s such a thing as “too” on the nose for Igon.
One thing I would love to know in the DLC is who took Mohgs body and brought it to the Divine Gates. Miquella has cut his body parts off. So he could not do it himself. Ledas group was far behind Miquella and none of them had a wheelbarrow with Mohg in it (Ansbach would not be pleased). And we don't really see any Miquellas servants that could carry that body. Maybe the hornsent, but how could they get to the Lands Between to pick the remains?
I've thought of this too and perhaps after we defeat Mohg and touch the withered arm at that moment he's body was also magically teleported straight to Micquella... It's a good question
@@jakelee8789 Ansbach did say that the body was absconded and taken to Miquella. Sounds like someone transported the body. Hard to be sure in FromSoftware games.
Classic Igon. If you're still open to video suggestions, could you try taking a stab at the fly sickness? I actually thought that was what was happening to Igon when I first found him, as I had no idea who Bayle was.
Anyone ever notice the parallels between Bayle and Mohg? They look very similar with their twisted horn design, both of their species have gotten sacrificed for an Order and built up resentment towards said Order, and they both embrace their true blood with the wings in 2nd phase? I’m sure there’s more connections out there too
Only an ancient dragon can take humanoid form from what we know. Man are not dragons but can become them through Dragon Communion, but even then it's either a humanoid dragon or a Magma Wyrm.
Think why he lacks armor is that the order of the drake knights is too long past it's prime to be able to manufacture armor and weapons for it's order.
Bayle should have been harder, especially if you call in igon. Everything was exceptionally done on this boss except for the difficulty. I got him done 1st try.
One of the first times I fought Bayle, I summoned Igon and he died. I was genuinely heartbroken at that moment as I thought Igon was so badass. Luckily, I ALSO lost that fight. When I eventually did beat Bayle (it took me several tries!) Igon was with me. When he said "You shall haunt me no longer" I felt such a sense of relief for the poor guy. What an amazingly written NPC - one of the best in any Fromsoft game in my opinion. BTW, will you guys be doing the Lamenter anytime soon? I recently completed their gaol and am quite interested in hearing their lore.

Hard to be sure in FromSoftware games.
its the "dont think about it too much"
Igon is the most likable badass in the Land of Shadow.
GOAT tier side character.
Oh, and - CURSE YOU BAYLE!
I don't remember where, but I remember someone describing Igon as "a man too angry to die".
Classic Igon.
If you're still open to video suggestions, could you try taking a stab at the fly sickness? I actually thought that was what was happening to Igon when I first found him, as I had no idea who Bayle was.
Definitely something we're looking into!
Mt favorite part of Igon is that he's also a smelly, drunk hobo in cut quests
Anyone ever notice the parallels between Bayle and Mohg? They look very similar with their twisted horn design, both of their species have gotten sacrificed for an Order and built up resentment towards said Order, and they both embrace their true blood with the wings in 2nd phase? I’m sure there’s more connections out there too
I did the same emote when I went back down the mountain to see Igon 😢
Mandatory CURSE YOU BAYLE!! Have a wonderful day.
Appreciated
CURSE YOU BAYYYYYLEEEE!!!!!
The hype man himself is here!
Even if Igon isn't the best spirit companion attack wise, he's by far the best hype man. "Curse you Bayle!!!!!" 💪🏻😎
I thought the dragons technically have a human form and the ancient dragon - man is the human form
He's on the list!
I was so excited for this video! CURSE YOU BAAAAAAAYYYYYLLEE!!!!
Igon is the reason I killed Bayle on my first try. He's the best hype man and I couldn't let him down!
in my fight igon got the last hit and im really happy at that, after everything he deserved it
Liking this video, WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS
WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF MY BEING!!
WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS!!
My favorite character of the whole game
