A great bike and i got rid of mine but have two 1977 models with the downpipe wihich i may convert, at the Bultaco shop I worked at in the 70s we called the Frontera the Pursangador because it was basically a Pursang with lights that replaced the Matador and a heavier flywheel. Of course it was more powerful later with the reed valve, we'd ditch the stock shocks for Works Performance, install a Diamond primary and drivechain, add Barnett clutch plates, Mugura quick throttle, Metzler tires to replace the crappy Pirellis, new bars and grips and then you had a deadly enduro weapon. The stock Amal square body carb was as good as a Mikuni really but a good Twin Air filter replaced the junk stocker. I still have all my 125, 250 and 360 Pursangs and on a vintage MX track in the right hands a precision instrument of destruction, the big Maicos may pull the holeshot on you but you get them in thr corners once they start wrestling the weight of those beasts. Eating rocks from the 501 is unforgettable so its best to make a quick pass of the German menace asap lol. I could go on but no one cares. Bultacos are Strong Stuff from Barcelona Spain.
