This is why I want to keep ETH, he develops young players, look at Hojlund, Garnacho, Mainoo, etc. Dalot has been one of the most underrated signings as well bcz he couldn’t defend before ETH and now he’s just a better RB, now all we need is Frimpong and Dalot has some serious competition to be the best RB

Frimpong wouldn't fit into our defence unless we switched to a back 3. Firstly that back 4 would be tiny and teams would exploit it, alternatively we could switch Martinez over to left back to allow for some taller dominant central defenders.

That first goal surely sums up ETH and what he is about. He has identified Rashford and Bruno and Dalot of the players he inherited, he has developed Garnacho and brought in Hojlund. The first goal looks almost like a set play. I don't think people have allowed enough for what injuries in the back 4 did to what ETH is looking to do. Now that Martinez is back and we have a back four that is at full strength we start to see what he wants to do.

@@mm2801 You completely ignore the influence of the players and the board. Ten Hag inherited players from 3 different managers that choose when they do/do not turn up. Compounded with the state of the grounds and poor upper level management. LVG tried 3 at the back and surprisingly not top teams in the prem use that formation. Mourinho had better players. Ten Hag is trying to implement a more technical based style and if you don’t have the players to execute it ofc you’ll see the losses we’ve seen. Not to mention ten hag doesn’t do the negotiations his signings could’ve cost a lot less if it wasn’t for the board’s incompetence. The problem is he doesn't have proper techniques for crossing however he does for curve shots which would've made him a monster winger much like coutinho,he can only a manage a cut back which he puts in with lots of power most times and almost never plays his cross in front for a striker to tuck away

  • @user-ig1ps2mr2r

I really love Dalot. Even Mourinho praised him back in 2017/18 and we know he is always right.
He is so so complete. He can defend, invert, attack, has a good shoot. The problems are lack of quality crosses and defensive awareness (he has let in goals from the far post). He is underrated because he isn't world class in any department, like Trent going forward, Zinchenko inverting and AWB while defending but he definitely is one of the few players which should have a long future with the club. ETH has certainly improved him and will continue to do so.
If anyone remember, at Anfield, only because he took a touch and turned immediately while inverting into the middle from RB, we were able to create 2 chances.

Ha ha ha - "In this season's EPL, United has conceded 32 goals in 22 matches, with Dalot being directly or indirectly responsible for 24 of those. His situation mirrors that of Telles, making the team vulnerable. Despite his contributions in attack ( which is abysmal if you look at the numbers), they do not compensate for his defensive flaws. His performance is becoming a critical issue, one that could significantly contribute to ETH losing his job come summer.

AWB is the octopus, all over the player he covers and that is great in some games, but Dalot has much better positional instinct and he has better technical skills going forward. The club needs both, because for some games AWB will just shut down a dangerous player but you will lose other things. For most games Dalot will be the starter. Well defending is not all about tackling to begin with. Better body positioning, ball control and composure on the ball in defensive positions are some other qualities needed. Dalot has them all but lesser at tackling. And sometimes the best attack can be the better defence of not having put yourself or your team mates in a dire defensive position to make desparate tackles. Hence if we don't need tackling fullback like AWB this means we're alot better in our midfielders, wingers and forwards helping out in defensive duties. It is a good sign overall in the case of ETH system. Remember AWB was huge in Ole's counter attacking system for some the tactical reasons as mentioned above. So more of Dalot means ETH's system is gradually working for us.

Yeah Diogo is that guy. Honestly most of his defensive errors was because of Antony not having his priorities straight. Dalot has been playing RW and try use the outside space and to try make something because Antony will just brush the ball until the scrambling defense tracks back. And in games where we had someone like Pellistri on the right-Wing who will try to attack space on the and link a pass ,you got see a more solid of a performance from Dalot(instead of Bruno or a stubborn shocking selection from Ten Hag). But As long Diogo playing Antony in the lineup, Bro has put constantly whipping in cross ,overlap ,drift inside, dribbling on defenders ouside on the wing ,a weak footed through balls ,get into the box . Its unfair sometimes😅😂but Antony won't help with that. And then we blame Dalot for a defensive game at times where the bro tries to do right by his side! ..
All I'm saying is Man Utd has got a player there in D.Da

Dalot needs to improve his falling behind the last line of defense & keeping the opposition on side. He also fails to intercept crosses & is lazy sticking his leg out. He comes to the wingers to late & let's they run into the box, learn to jockey the opposition wide. He is a work in progress.

Jose signed Dalot who, at the time , was considered to be the best young player in Europe. Personally, I don't think he's a defensive full back, more of an attacking mid-fielder. He can 'go to sleep' in defence sometimes. Good player though in the wrong position.

Since Jim Ratcliff took over United hierachy is changing and you can see it on the pitch. In addition with the new football director, United players doesn't play for themselves anymore. Making overlapping runs and doing a extra passes that we have never seen before. It has to be because of top brass changes, im sure which comes with new rules set by the football director and who knows what these rules are except for the players. In conclusion i think United will continue to impress fans even more in the following days.

Dalot is one of those players that has moments of greatness along with some colossal mishaps - him and Garnacho are starting to gel well and i think that might have something to do with dalot being the more senior of the 2, and not pairing with who, lets face it, players who wouldn't be looking up to him. think of it like this, instead of standing there waiting to see what Rashford wants to do, hes in control and telling Garnacho "fetch"
I do however believe that there would be better options for that position available in the summer - along with a new cb. so his time is limited at united

In defence, he has to be much more disciplined at the moment he will miss a marking easily.

If Dalot is going to be our staring RB, then AWB should be redeployed to a sweeper in front of the defence, behind Mainoo and the other CM. Benching such a useful player is a waste of an invaluable resource.

    • @wr9209
      @wr9209 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Nah he’s definitely not good enough to play that position. You have to have arguably the best awareness on the pitch and positioning in that position, as well as a great touch. Just think last couple of seasons with Mctominnay/Fred etc getting caught on the ball. The reason AWB makes lots of tackles is BECAUSE he’s out of position and lacks awareness. The general consensus amongst football coaches is that the best defenders make more interceptions than tackles, because if you’re in the right position, they won’t be able to get past.

People don't "try to find a way to make AWB a superior fullback" ... Dalot is far better tactically, yes, and overall as a modern fullback but Wan-Bissaka is far far superior, defensively, especially against tricky, dangerous wingers and in one on one situations. Having the two is a very, very good mix. I believe we can appreciate one without denigrating the other.
