What an incredible documentary here today. The high courts, barristers, benches and bars in London. Amazing. The "compound" if you will, is a lovely campus. Quiet, serene, and regal buildings and so grand. Truly beautiful and old old glorious history. Thank you for such detailed education. I learned a lot in this one. The courtyard fields are beautiful as a large park. The buildings surrounding the park/fields are so well preserved and kept beautiful. Love the white hall. The school of economics is unique and fabulous. This will definitely be a stop and stroll for me.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a barrister, politician and the founder of Pakistan... In 1895, at age 19, he became the youngest British Indian to be called to the bar in England... The Lincoln’s Inn... Why was it called the bar? "The bar" is now used as a collective noun for barristers, but literally referred to the wooden barrier in old courtrooms, which separated the often crowded public area at the rear from the space near the judges reserved for those having business with the court... Barristers were official recognized as men learned in the law for the first time by a parliament statute of 1532 but it was not until 1590 that being called to the bar of an Inn of Court was established as the minimum necessary qualification for audience as a counsellor before the superior common-law courts... Once you're Called to the Bar you become an unregistered barrister...

Back in the day, The Two Fat Ladies did a show at Licolns Inn, where Clarissa Dickson Wright had been a barrister. They shared some details on the place as well.
What beautiful buildings and gardens. The history is something else and you must have done an amazing amount of research. The LSE building kind of spoils things as being too modern. The buildings were stunning and didn't look their age. The gardens were beautiful and it was nice to see some bluebells. The grass behind Lincoln Inn was gorgeous 😍. I couldn't get mine like that. It conveyed the sense of peace and quiet. The water 💧 ⛲ were very fancy for their job. I think if I were a barrister I would love to have an office their. 🏢. What was the garden on the right when you were looking at the bandstand. It had wooden fencing around it. Maybe I missed 😔😕😞 it in your commentary, my hearing is not that great. I remember reading that the beheading done in Lincoln fields was so bad Jack Hitch needed protection! He apparently messed some others up as well. I am sure the peacefulness of the outside of the buildings is not always reflected on the inside 🙄😀😑. Truly fascinating video.
Lesley, you are right about the LSE building it does look out of context with everything else here on the square. Love a good water feature! The garden was all part of the square but some parts were fences either for the members tennis area or for growing plants and protecting them. Thanks as always 👍😀
